If it's something that only takes a few hours, then Boney wouldn't have a vote on it because it'd be inconsequential. The only reason Boney would let us vote on the subject is if there are tradeoffs or other actions we could be doing with our time. Boney doesn't make situations where the vote has absolutely no downsides whatsoever.
The vote we're having is during a time sensetive event (before, the arrival of the Tzar, and currently the coming battle). Originally, the vote was to ride and find the Boyar and investigate him. This was all to take a single day, riding and all.

I do not think we will be able to find out the mystery of why or how this guy pissed off wood elves in a few hours, because the kind of people who manage to piss off age old murder trees do not give up their secrets easily. I fully expect an interview to either yield nothing or be refused, Mathilde has no authority in Kislev and I doubt the Tzar would be minded to lend him his given that it would not look very prestigious to be using imperial spooks as spooks in his backyard, also be might not care why the fey were pissed off himself.

So we would then have to do a clandestine operation and that would take way longer than we have to spend on this
Or, hear me out, it might reveal something. It costs us nothing to try, and if it turns out that we need to take follow up actions that are too long and will end up eating into our next turn we can just not do that.

Yeah I'm saying that if something has literally no downside, then Boney literally wouldn't put it up as a vote. If the whole thing is finished and apparently it takes a few hours to find out why Athel Loren is here then I don't expect a vote to pop up unless there's a tradeoff. Boney doesn't make pointless votes. You're making the argument that we lose literally nothing to do this.

Well depending on how it is written it might cost OOC time, but most likely if the answer is 'the Boyar told Mathilde do fuck off' it will be handled in one sentence I think.

I want to make it clear that this is my opinion. I'm not Boney or his spokesperson. I know he dislikes people speaking for him, and I don't mean to sound like that.

I'm here for the magic and mysteries, so I would very much want to know everything about what's going on here. But sadly the time for investigating the Boyar may be over. I hope we'll get some answers from the wreckage.

What are you talking about? There is a downside to investigating him now, it means not doing anything else, and I'm not saying we should investigate him now. I argued against it! I only say that while the Boyar might have information that is of interest to us we could find it out later. And maybe we won't find out, maybe he won't tell us anything, but it is literally no effort at all to try. None.

I literally asked about this, investigating the guy means not doing other stuff.
I doubt this is going to become a freebie afterwards.
Again, not voting to talk to him now. But why would this not 'become a freebie' afterwards? What do you think that's going to happen that would make getting information out of the Boyar impossible later but possible now?

Please try to understand what I'm saying. I'm saying that if we finish the arc and the whole thing is dealt with, a vote will not pop up if it costs us nothing to do it with no disadvantage. You keep misreading what I'm saying.

Not impossible.
A trade off.
Staying and investigating, assuming the guy survives, may mean we have no time for something else.

What she is saying is that if there is no downside to investigating him later then there would be no point is having the option of doing it now. The vote would be a no brainer to do it later, thus pointless.

What's going to happen is that the Tzar will disband the pulks and return to Kislev City, upon which the Boyar reverts to being the ultimate local authority and Mathilde reverts to being a foreigner with absolutely no jurisdiction in Kislev.

I'm sure that Mathilde would try to find out what's up with the Boyar after the fight without any vote with some rudimentary conversations and questions, but I expect that if a vote is involved, then the investigation action would be far more in depth than "just a few hours, absolutely no downsides to doing this".

Thanks for this, I've been trying to make that point and it is a little frustrating when people forget we do not have any authority to ask the man the time of day.

I don't see why we would care tbh. Problem taken care of, i really don't see why the genocidal woodstick got it into her head to murder someone but i don't think its really all that important to us.

Alright, so under what jurisdiction does Mathilde act if she investigates him now? Boris?

"Tzar Vladimir, the Imperinyi witch (that is currently de facto under your authority due to being attached to the pulks) is being mean to me."

"Imperinyi witch, why are you being mean to him?"

"Because the enemy seem to be after him, so what he knows might provide a strategic advantage if he answers my questions. Here are three Ice Witches who agree with this conclusion."

"Oh. Keep being mean to him, then."

If the Boyar is enthralled or a vampire, Mathilde may find that out after interacting with him for a while with Windsight on. If he's interacted with the spirits in a significant way, that may also have left a trace.

Her ability to see emotions means that she may also be able to see if his emotional state doesn't match what he should be feeling.

I think it's pretty likely that we're actually helping the/a wrong side here, and this is a plot that Kalashnikov or someone pulling his strings has pulled and is so far succeeding beyond their wildest dreams because Mathilde has piled in.

If this later turns out (and it might never come out, or take a while) to be the case, Mathilde will either look stupid or complicit.

The funny thing is that Mathilde hasn't even made a contract with any authorities, so theoretically she's not even operating under any of the Articles. It's not like she's breaking them, but she's certainly not even operating under them. This would apply:
12. Magisters are permitted to pursue agreements of employment with any persons or organisations: civil and religious, public and private, noble and mercantile, providing their employers are not enemies of Sigmar's Holy Empire or the people and that will not lead to the breaking of any of these Articles.
If she actually negotiated any sort of contract. I guess she can sort of be her own employer at the moment. Not that it matters, but I think it's funny that Kislev just accepted Mathilde into this whole military endeavour despite her having absolutely no papers or authorisation for this. No time for paperwork, we got trees to kill.

We are on the side that wants to kill Drycha, the ghosts of tens of thousands of humans and probably thousands of elves say we are on the right side no matter that the proximal circumstances are. Boyar Kalashnikov had better have a hell of a plot to match even a hundredth of the evil that the Briarmaven of Woe did in her day.

It helps that it isn't just any LM, but Mathilde "Vlag" Weber.

This hypothetical conversation would imply that the Boyar is talking to the Tzar, which could only happen after the Boyar reached Resvynhaf. If the Boyar doesn't want to give Mathilde answers when she intercepts him on the road then couldn't he just do that? And by the time they both reach Resvynhaf the Tzar might back Mathilde up, but that rather defeats the point of riding to find him. I might have misunderstood what the action '[ ] [GREY] Investigate Boyar Kalashinivik' means, is it about staying in Resvynhaf and waiting for the Boyar?
