hey guys, I'm someone who regularly watches the quest but doesn't interact much. I wanted to ask something. We are not rolling for some things anymore?is it just that the rolls are not shown anymore? I understand that Boney does not show rolls for social things but I don't remember seeing rolls on other things for some updates now what happened?

Oh god Mathilda is already forty where has the time gone!

Oh god I just realized I've been following this quest now for years!

Oh god I was here when Mathilda was a brat fighting in Slyvania!

I feel old now.
Yeah, I have the occasional realization that I've been mostly lurking this quest for 3 years straight, 4 in like a little more than 2 months. I saw "Warhammer Fantasy Advisor Quest" and was like that is an absolutely great idea and I was right. And then fell in love with Boney's writing and loved every moment of it.
Edit: Just looked back and I think this was the second ever thread I posted on.

Remembers what happened to Gotrek

...Can someone check in on Kroq Gar for me pls?

Look, I have no belief at all that some random marauders managed to kill Kroq'gar.

(Besides, Kroq'gar's is a gauntlet, this is a prosthetic)

There are only THREE People in Warhammer Fantasy that I think could maybe beat Kroq'gar in a straight fight.

Gotrek (Because its fucking GOTREK)

Settra (The man of 100 titles, whos Chariot and glaive are two of the most broken pieces of equipment Fantasy has every seen)

Tyrion (This is a highly flawed choice imo, but the Blood of Aenarion is plot armor. It'd probably just let him survive rather than win, but still)

If you aren't one of those three I don't think you have a chance of fighting Kroq'gar in a fight. Kroq'gar's Gauntlet is more than safe from a couple marauder's... Then again... Looks at Gotrek...

A non-straight Fight, Melekeith, any Slann, Couple others could probably beat him.

Same and the time just flew on by ever since!

This update got me thinking.

Would a decades-long puberty actually be easier, due to the various transitions being more gradual?

Most of what Mathilde has been doing recently has been things where Mathilde doesn't know if better results might have been possible, which means dice aren't shown. Elves are trickier to read than Dwarves.

"Forgive me for not greeting you in the manner of your kind," he says, glancing up from the bow. "The blood of the yew is quite toxic to those not accustomed to it. I am Councillor Galrith of Miriel."

"A pleasure to meet you," you reply. "I am Lady Magister Mathilde Weber of the Grey Order."

"You wield the Wind of Shadow, I am told," he says as he works. "Much like I hear my distant kin in Ulthuan do, though my ancestors left them when the land was still whole. There is, I feel, more honour in doing what is necessary but not praised, than what is celebrated in story and song." He taps the stave while glancing up at you wryly. "The great hunter gets a canto, the bowyer but a stanza, and the fletcher not a line. And now you want to form your own legend that our labour will make possible."

"Elven artisanry is legendary, and among the Eonir it is known that House Miriel dominate the production of the finest-quality works. I do not intend to fail due to substandard equipment, so I came to you."

He looks up at you thoughtfully. "You twist words like my children. Perhaps that is what the other Houses see in your kind. But though I will accede to the collective will of the High Council, I will not bleed my own House dry to fund your ambitions. You will pay for our services, as all must."

"Would you prefer the coin of the Empire or Dwarven ingots?"

"Ingots. As your kind is so aware, many of our hills are rich in silver and gold, but it is needed where it is."
Have I mentioned how much I love elvish passive-aggression in this quest? Because this is a thing of beauty.

How has Mathilde's appearance changed at this point, from early in the quest? In terms of both age, hair and dress. There's been some incidental mentions, but it's hard to get a complete picture.

Well, she's got a higher hat to indicate that she is more physically powerful, a smokey stick to show she is more magically powerful, cooler clothing to show she is more politically powerful, and a big ol' belt buckle to show she is a B O S S.

(Actually though, I don't recall any signs of her aging being mentioned)

Imagine all the cringe things you did as a teen, but stretch out that period by a extra forty years.

Thanks, guess I don't need to wonder what intrusive thoughts will keep me up all night tonight. :stickouttongue2:

Thank you very much for the reply Boney.
I have to ask does that mean we'll see the rolls for the vitae god thing?

Shems burning gaze is pewpew and anti Necro dhar/daemon right? That sounds crazy useful.

This is the official quest description, from the Collection of Important Information Post, under battle magics available for purchase with College Favor section. (It would probably be nice to move the BM descriptions for other colleges to the Spellbooks post sometime.)

Shem's Burning Gaze (10 favors): You fire several rays of searing light at the target squad.

There is actually nothing in there about being especially effective versus dhar/daemon, but on the other hand there's nothing about it being less effective against stuff that isn't that. It seems to be the the most baseline "Zap-zap" spell of Hysh. When you don't want any fancy effects, you just absolutely positively need to tear a few creatures apart with pure energy. I'm actually not putting it down by saying that; it's a handy trick for Johann to have in his pocket and would make me more comfortable sending him on combat missions.

Honestly, kinda horrifying. Those smiths aren't people anymore. Just mechanisms of flesh and blood bent to a singular task.
Really hope Max doesn't take it as inspiration.
Hard disagree. Sure, they're apparently very dedicated to their religion, but that doesn't stop them being people. Nothing in the update said they do nothing but smith, or that they're trapped or anything.

Settra loses that fight. he loses that fight hard. Settra is a skilled warrior, don't get me wrong, but he's like Malekith, jack of all trades, master of none. He's a ruler, a priest and a warrior (also his equipment is nice, but not spectacular. Both Tyrion and Gotrek have nicer toys). Kroq-Gar is solely a warrior and he's exceedingly good at it. Tyrion could definitely put up a fight, but would lose in the end (although, the Curse of Khaine does make that dicey. It's victory or death though, the Curse doesn't tend to do "lost but survived"). Settra IMO would only win if he got to throw around some magic.

There are a couple others who might take Kroq-Gar in a straight fight. Skarbrand pops to mind, as does Hellebron. Indirectly, and the list starts to get quite large because most high-level spellcasters could kill him in about five seconds given enough distance, by lore.

Boney, this reads as a bit wonky to me, the repeating glass bit:
There is glasswork of every size and made of a variety of glasses, including some
Maybe something along the lines of
"There is glasswork of every size and" of a variety of types
"There is glasswork of every size and" and made of a variety of substances

If you think this bit is worth editing, of course. Leaving the sentence the way it is isn't like... and actual problem, just that the same(base) word twice felt like... a hiccup? when I was reading it.

Just throwing out suggestions if you think the original is worth changing. I had something that was actually a good suggestion, but it slipped away from my sleepy brain, sozz.

Energetically seconded. How 'not people anymore' was taken from that bit confuses me and it was not my read in the slightest.

To avoid starting a massive fight where no one ends up happy (Because this is Warhammer Fantasy and people love to debate their favorite Hero/Spellcaster/Named character) I don't think Setra would go down easy, nor do I think it'd be a stomp, I think Setra's Equipment lets him do more than he might of. Thats all ima say though.

My main point was you need to be someone serious to actually be more than a swat for our favorite mounted Lizard

Longer hair in plaits, more muscle, more confidence, more intensity. Not so much signs of physical ageing.
So Mathilde does have the soul of a dwarf. Ageing only makes her tougher.

Well at least they don't repel the winds like dwarfs so windsight at least gives clues. Then again windsight is so common among elves that they likely consider wind attraction as part of normal body language.

Wait, plaits, plural?

As in... Pigtails/twintails?
One in each side, in the dwarven style.

Being good against demons and undead is an inherent property of light magic.

There are multiple sets of alchemical equipment in glass, stone, ceramic, copper, and steel. There are modular runic arrays and stencils for the quick and easy construction of the various kinds of magic circles, and a stunning variey of resonant materials to reinforce them. There is a veritable armoury of ritual knives, daggers, sickles, and hammers of every magically resonant material imaginable, and a second of more mundane tools made of materials chosen for a complete lack of resonance.
Should we expect this to be useful for our enchanting work or do our existing towers overshadow it in that regard/don't stack?
