I'm really hoping that planning out our library can eke ahead a few more votes. Talking to Belegar isn't time sensitive, but you only get to plan out the construction of a megaproject like this once in your lifetime.

To be honest, I'd prefer the library to Belegar, but I prefer the Vicarius to either, so with the vote at this point...

Wouldn't call it a megaproject, it's just a place where books will be, and I have faith in dwarf architects to not screw up the main objective; and any Ranaldian dedications should be subtle, so don't have to be baked into the architecture.

I don't think library is uninteresting and unrelevant, but the best king, and the gun elf who we discussed the dwarf guns with and who is the ruler of the Laurelorn province on the road from Middenheim to Tor Lithanel and who, in his words, is reconsidering how some kinds of humans can actually be ok, is more preferable to me.

The biggest problem we currently have with the Webway project is that we don't know anyone in Laurelorn or almost anything about the place, and we don't really have any good ways of finding out what the various options we take would mean.

The social option with the Vicarius is our solution to this. That should give us some hints of what we should be doing. We can't stay so ignorant of the key players and politics of the kingdom.

The library would be nice to see, but wouldn't actually tell us anything that would impact our future decision making in a way that talking to the Vicarius would.

78-78-77 between Belegar, Galenstra, and the library. Only two of these three can make it! (Unless we dislodge Thorek, Qrech, or Egrimm, which seems unlikely to me.)

I personally favor Galenstra and the library, but I don't think it's a huge deal whichever way it breaks.

[X] Belegar, to discuss who has been made Loremaster after you.
[X] The Karak Azul Architects, to get involved in the design of your Library in detail.

[X] Vicarius Galenstra, to get to know him and his Ward.

What's funny is that the previous, potentially massively impactful vote went overwhelmingly in favour of supporting Thorek by about 10 to 1.

The interaction vote on the other hand is extremely close. :V

Out of all the organisations in Shades of Empire, by far the most baffling one to me are the Knights of Magritta.

So you're telling me that these guys, after they deposed Jaffar and ended his empire and the crusades ended, they decided it wasn't enough. They spent 100 years attacking merchant vessels and raiding Araby, determined to conquer it so they would "never attack again" or whatever, and they only stopped because the merchants of the city were hit hard by the trade losses from these crazy knights attacking trading vessels. So they leave the city, form a secret society across the Old World, and this is where it gets crazy.

FOR 1000 YEARS they've been laying low with a grudge and a desire to reconquer Araby and unite Estalia. I understand wanting to unite Estalia or whatever, but what does Araby have to do with it? How the hell did these guys maintain a grudge and desire to conquer Araby for 1000 years? That genuinely stretches my SOD to an unbelievable degree.

Keep reading, there's some reveals on that front.

Fair point on the library being more important that talking to Belegar and his new loremaster.

[X] Thorek Ironbrow, to witness the arrival of the first Dwarf in Tor Lithanel for over four thousand years.
[X] Qrech, who is putting the finishing touches on his tome on the Chaos Dwarves.
[X] Egrimm, to try to sound out more information about the Alric situation.
[X] Vicarius Galenstra, to get to know him and his Ward.
[X] The Karak Azul Architects, to get involved in the design of your Library in detail.

Isn't the section in the book about how they haven't preserved their desire to conquer Araby, and the tensions between the alternate potential other agendas has reached the point where it could tear the order apart? It's an attempt to be a subversion of the trope of the ancient secret society that has preserved its goals unchanged for a millennium.

Regarding the Belegar can wait pov: talking about the loremaster can wait, but i thing that Belegar might mention the eyes of Grimnir being opened.

It will be good to know if Belegar made the correct conclusion about the what Waystone energy is being used for.

Waystone stuff:
[X] Egrimm, to try to sound out more information about the Alric situation.
[X] Vicarius Galenstra, to get to know him and his Ward.
[X] Thorek Ironbrow, to witness the arrival of the first Dwarf in Tor Lithanel for over four thousand years.
[X] Middenland, to see how the Ulricans are going with their new Eonir coreligionists.

Personal stuff:
[X] Qrech, who is putting the finishing touches on his tome on the Chaos Dwarves.
[X] Roswita, to get a sense for who will control Sylvania after you turned down the position.
[X] Pay a visit to your fief, to see if anything has changed. It probably hasn't.
[X] The Karak Azul Architects, to get involved in the design of your Library in detail
[X] Gretel, who's apparently spending her newly-earned wealth to make herself at home

Weird stuff:
[X] Ostermark, because you're curious about this Shirokij business.
[X] The Gold College, to see what's become of their research into Skaven technology.

Updating vote with a couple of extra bits because why not.

I like the leading votes. Belegar can wait, the rest, not so much.

I need to know more about Laurelorn movers and shakers.
