Eat shit, Destro

So, random question, what do you guys think the next crazy weapon/ogre upgrade is going to be, I think we can give the ogres their own great swords proportionally sized

Taalite Great Bow company. LIke Ushabti great bows, but ogres in leathers.

Volley after volley of spear sized arrows falling from the sky. Good for army of the forest, range, or Ostland.

Ogre mortars.

Back mounted, halfling crewed. Not a replacement, but an addon to existing ranged troops.

For the melee spec Pulverizers... shoulder mounted swivel guns with halfling crews, designed for firing over the shield walls. Alternative variants would be molotov and grenade lobbers.

Loved update! Orturd's perspective was very fitting.

Its always nice to see what forces of Order are capable of when working together tightly.

I wonder if the ogres volunteered to eat the dead skaven to help Orturd with the clean up, they could get it done in a few days tops. :D

Nice to see the Skaven infestation in this part of the Empire get rooted out and crushed.

Strategically, this should make Karak Ungor and Karak Kadrin slightly more secure. However, Festermarsh was more of a far flung settlement, than some of the other Lairs out there.

Still, I'm not one to poo poo a success. I'm glad this place got stamped out.

Freddy: *Thousand mile stare* "That we should have some nigh unkillable, unstoppable engines of destruction on our side for a change."

Hahaha! We could actually make the Ogres living Siege Engines by mounting a couple of miniature cannons and halflings on them! :lol: :rofl:

Now just put at least 3 halflings on an Ogres shoulders with mini-cannons and bombs!

Nothing, that's my hope. I don't want another delay on taking the beastpaths. Three military actions available, and the majority could still choose to not take the beastpaths. The skaven went west for aid in this update!

I don't fully understand your argument here? What does Skaven going West have to do with Ostland's Beast Paths? Like if they were going west it was most likely to go to a place under Talabecland. We will probably get an Intrigue action to check if there are Skaven in Ostland next turn, but that's going to be an Intrigue action before it is a Martial Action.

This discussion got tabled by the QM. It's important, but until Torroar updates again, they want any reference to the Cult of Manaan and the Holders of the shore to not be brought up.

@torroar has his gender listed on his profile. It's male. Please don't misgender people and check a person's profile before you start writing about said person.

And thus disappears the last of Mark of Chaos' villains... That was a ducking filthy skaven, why am I feeling a bit sad?

Because you loved that game and now all of it's plots are now spent in this quest? This just my guess mind you.

you know, sometimes, the world is nice.

Good, wholesome skaven extermination. Nothing complicated, overwhelming overwhelming overwhelming force on Order's side for once. Just a nice cleaning. If the warpstone is cleared, "festermarsh" might even get a new name. Lovely little update.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next ridiculous upgrade for Ogres? Vapor Engine Based Flamethrowers. Flamethrowers are excellent against light armor quickly and heavy armor eventually. They'll have ironfists so they won't even be slouches in melee.
also: we were talking about getting the Ogres some proper designed blades? Competition Choppers are basically Machete or Butcher Knife looking hunks that hold up well to wear and tear from very violent use. They'd chop a hunk out of pretty much anything.
We also just saw the capacity for a thrown weapon (of any shape) to be incredibly useful as a combat assist. Ogre Javelins would be sickening against larger targets. We could also make an Ogre Sized Grenadier suit. Would probably be a melee with Ironfists that occasionally lobbed grenades hard enough to brain people before the explosion.
I'm a personal fan of a "half tank" idea that uses an ogre for mobility and the vapor engine for just the flamethrower and spinner. Will need us to have some "offroad" wheel solutions (both the wheel and perhaps suspension) but being a "more than full plate" ogre inside a metal prow that has a spinner in the front and a flamethrower "lance" on the right (or left) side for the pilot to use. It'd be like Ogre Cav without the cav. Disturbing charge, ludicrous power against light armor, gonna need some of the "infantry" ogre to handle armor and large. I'm basically picturing one of those foot-powered "cars" for kids except Ogre sized and in the shape of. Well. Half a steam tank haha
Frederick, by comparison, had brought his wife, the entire Army of Ostland, and a hell of a lot of mercenaries with him. It was still shocking to see them all in one place, after all these years. Gleaming ranks of hard-bitten veterans, swordsmen and pikes and guns and ogres. Not to mention their eclectic mix of war machines. After Karak Ungor they'd been split up this way and that across Ostland, on patrols and destruction missions for overly aggressive warherds and forest goblins along with the Army of the Forest, based on your conversations with Frederick. Aside from training sessions, they hadn't come together as a single concentrated force in years. Even knowing all that, you wouldn't know it based on the lockstep of their march and the glint in their eyes.
God. I loved this update. It felt like dessert, like the whole Karak Ungor gang back together without the crazy, oppressive bullshit ALL of our enemies were pulling. Like reverse KU, except no, Order was the side pulling esoteric units out of their ass this time.
Get some rhinox for real ogre cav. heavy cav is terrafying. Heavy ogre cav though...
I don't know. Do we really want to risk a belligerent species running lose in an already belligerent wilderness? Besides ogres must already cost an arm to supply sufficiently, how much would rhinox demand. Besides being a pain to control both on and of the battlefield.
rhinox are belligerent and violent in the extreme. They're not tameable, they're beatable. Which is entirely different.
actually . . . that makes me wonder about Elven interaction with them. Or Amber. Are they totally assholes or are rhinox just looking to eat and constantly being frustrated by interruptions
Nice to see the forces of order kicking ass and taking named Ratmen down.
Though we probably need to help secure the Warpstone and clear out Festermarsh to the best of our abilities.
All of it was great. Most people have commented on standouts especially visa vi Ortrud, so to add a different one I love the depiction of the Ogres.
Nails how they were meant to be the next (if not perfected) version of the OO's anti chaos forces and that they would be crazy strong without the maw (yes I know crazy strong with the maw, but IMO it holds em back a lot more than it helps) and practically unbeatable if they were ever made as smart as the OO apparently intended to make them.
Not really useful to have Ogre mortars. You can already just put the mortars on a mobile mount (like the dash cannons), and since mortars are indirect fire, the advantage of rapid mobility and rapid aim are diminished. Thunderbringers are able to load, move, aim, and fire all by themselves, even against a mobile enemy.
They'd also suck in tight spaces/underground, because of ceilings.
Lastly, if the weapon would need to be crewed anyway, it kind of defeats the purpose. Like with the dash cannon, a dash mortar is far more feasible to do than an ogre-carried mortar.
It depends on whether or not they have a herd structure really.
If they don't then they're a bunch of loners that occasionally meet up for sex at designated times and are more than likely pissed off at all the people making them miss said sex and regular food.
If they do have a heard structure then you might be able to train them, but you'd have to actually be able to catch them, pen them, be strong enough to control them and patient enough to break them in.
Considering non-Ostland Ogres would rather just eat and fart the day away I doubt any of them really bothered to make the attempt beyond "Punch, prod, and point."
I think torroar already mentioned how orges who follow Taal and Rhya are getting into using bows, which for them basically siege bolt throwers, and becoming skilled hunters so that likely means we will get our own version of ogre hunters.
Considering we are big on anything that makes it easier to track down and kill hostile forces in our mostly forested province its a good thing. We already took first steps with lots of ogres following Taal heading into wild to make a place for themselves there among nature in a balancing way.
In fact, you can argue that ogres aligned to Taal make the perfect predator species to hunt down and keep the populations of greenskins, beastmen, and other nasties down!
