Turn 6 Rumor Mill
Rumor Mill:

All Hail Otrud Hertwig, Elector Countess of Ostermark: In a tragic turn of events, the third Elector Count in a little over than half a decade has died. None regret Count Gruber's death, but the ending of the current Count Hohenzollern's father and now that of Countess Hertwig are most regrettable indeed. Bereft of a brother slain in the trials of Nordland just a few years earlier, Countess Hertwig has no more immediate family to rely upon. However, a strong showing at the Elector's Meet has resulted in new trade contracts and mutual defense pacts between the three northernmost territories of the Empire which are simultaneously what people are now calling the Northern Trident. Stephan von Kessel of Nordland, Frederick Hohenzollern of Ostland, and Ortrud Hertwig of Ostermark are the youngest Elector Count's in the Empire, with none being older than twenty six. The next oldest Elector Count is Alberich Rommel of the Reikland.

Disaster At Praag: Reconstruction of Praag, the one of the major infrastructure casualties of the Great War Against Chaos, has shuddered to a halt. Previously burnt down to the immense corruption and taint resulting from its devastation by one of the now dead Everchosen's lieutenants, it was hoped that it could be rebuilt to once more provide a bulwark against the predations of Chaos. Unfortunately it seems that the taint survives. Half rebuilt, Praag transformed overnight into a horrifying hellscape of twisting stones and screaming souls. The workers were driven utterly mad and attacked themselves and the Kislevite soldiery sent to guard them. Tzarina Kattarin however has remained adamant that work will continue.

Night of Strange Lights In Bretonnia: The legendary and mysterious Athel Loren lit up early in the year for entirely unknown reasons. It is said that ghost lights danced along the border between Bretonnia and the realm of the Wood Elves, and that strange music piped through the leaves and trees in disquieting tunes. While this has led to rampant speculation that the Wild Hunt was to be unleashed, others were adamant that it sounded far more like the Wood Elves were celebrating than anything else, not preparing for a wave of destruction. No one knows which is correct, and none are brave enough to travel into Athel Loren to ask.

Blood In The Shadows: The terrible threat of a revitalized Chaos war effort under the hands of the one known as Thorgar the Blooded One has dropped off significantly for unknown reasons this year. For the entire duration of the year the dreaded threat of the Blooded Ones unifying in one great horde while within the heart of the Empire ended as they streamed towards the World's Edge Mountains. Though dozens of villages and towns disappeared beneath their advances towards the mountains, they explicitly did not break their charge to attack Altdorf or any truly major settlements. By the time the Elector's Meet concluded, the last of the Blooded Ones had disappeared into the mountain range. It is unknown where this massive army consequently has disappeared to. No one is eager to find out, for they will surely return.

Guns Of The North: In a seemingly calculated move, the Grand Principality of Ostland announced a stunning reveal to the Empire: the creation of a School of Gunnery and Engineering based in their capital of Wulfenburg. Right on the heels of the botched reveal by Hochland of their own College of Sorcery which took up valuable resources and time that could have been used to assist in the liberation of Nordland, the Wulfenburg School of Gunnery and Engineering purportedly is only but a fourth the size of its much larger counterpart in Nuln. However, any thoughts of incompetence or incomplete instruction were put to rest when it was revealed the lead designer and instructor at the facility would be a dwarven Master Engineer named Valma Tharmaniz of the Clan Bronzeheart. Atop the entrance to the school is a cannonball at the center of a massive sprawling mural involving an enormous cannon battery, a herd of bulls, swords, guns, and more. Beneath it in enormous scrawled lettering for what is apparently the school motto 'To Hell and Back'. Furthermore, Emperor Magnus publically supported the creation of the school both during the Elector's Meet and afterward. The fact that this School was constructed just after the Nordland Campaign by its main orchestrator has caused many unimpressed looks to be directed towards the protesting Victor Ludenhof. It seems that the ancestral squabbling between Ostland and Hochland have not been dampened by time or conflict.

The Steel Bull: The Hero of Nordland, Count Hohenzollern of Ostland, has recently gained a new name. By all reports left an inch from death at the conclusion of his campaign to liberate his neighbor from the foul clutches of the now dead Otto Gruber, Count Hohenzollern attended the Elector's Meet in apparent full health. He would be seen across Nuln moving easily and conversing without difficulty. The enormous amount of scars covering the man ensure that none can protest that his near death was a falsehood, yet his stunning recovery and utter lack of slowing led to a name being bandied about by the common people of Nuln. By the end of the year, the name has become lodged and stuck. The Steel Bull, clad in metal and charging down the foes of the Empire, has even more incredibly been awarded an Imperial Triumph at the Elector's Meet of this year, to be performed next year so that proper preparations shall be made. All hail the Steel Bull, a grand hero of the Empire! Title Gained: The Steel Bull of Ostland.

Emptied Villages In Hochland: Several villages in the west of Hochland were discovered to have been completely emptied seemingly overnight towards the end of the year. There were few signs of struggle, and no survivors. More than that, there were no bodies, and no direct signs as to where they may have been taken. All that is known is that over the last week, more than two thousand citizens of the Empire have disappeared seemingly into smoke. The only thing that comes as a sign of where they might have gone is that the majority of the disappeared citizenry lived in settlements which were close to the Middle Mountains. Elector Count Victor Ludenhof vowed to hunt down the perpetrators, gathering up a large party of the premier soldiers and hunters in Hochland and left towards the range shortly after learning this upon his return from the Elector's Meet held this year.

Grand Conclave of 2309: While this year featured the first Elector's Meet that held the Counts and Countesses of the entire Empire, so too did Nuln host the second of the Grand Conclaves. The Grand Theogonist and Ar-Ulric, highest representatives of the gods Sigmar and Ulric in the whole of the Empire, nearly came to blows it is said before being personally separated by the Emperor. Though obviously much of the decisions made will be unknown to the greater whole of the Empire, there is a general sense of unified hope that the Emperor was able to host the event at all. An appreciable number of Hierarch's of Taal and Rhya especially attended after personal entreaties of the Emperor, ensuring that two of the oldest Gods in the Empire received proper attention in the Conclave. Other matters, such as tithing rates and tithing rights, were especially under discussion. The greater Empire will likely never truly make note of the differences made here, but they are most certainly important.

Hahahahahhaha! Triplets!
I suspected it would be twins again with how she thought of herself in her interlude, but this is even better :p

FUCK ME IT'S THE SKAVEN. That or Chaos Dwarves.

Won't matter. The prick will just rationalize that it's Ostland fault anyway. That Hate boner of his against Ostland/ isn't gonna go away anytime soon.
Then we wait until he's whining for help and we come charging in. We need a bull helm.

EDIT: Also, am I the only person who would totally pay to see a halfling V skaven pitfight?

Hmmh. Hochland has mining operations.

We could go down and help them provided they want us and help out with whatever is plaguing our southern neighbor and once the threat is done with try and negotiate a supply contract so we have abundant material to chose from when forging cannon.

Eh, the write-in didn't win, but ah well. We learned more, got a fancy name, and got to see that Victor is too much of a jackass to really work with *before* we started throwing good money after bad. So it's all good.

I will say that, @torroar , Freddy is my favorite of your protagonists so far, and the one who seems most internally complex and conflicted and interesting...not that the others weren't, but he seems moreso, and I'm not sure if it's because his story resonates with me or whether you've polished your great writing even further.

I don't think there's any Chaos Dwarves in the Middle Mountains.

Hopefully Victor doesn't kick it or mysteriously disappear. We don't need to break in another Elector Count at this stage. Though hopefully his heir is more reasonable and doesn't possess a hate boner for Ostland, as unlikely as that would be.

Must be a celebration at Slugtongue's death.

So he went to the World's Edge Mountains? That looks to confirm it. Thorgar should be after the crown of domination which is one of the six treasures of Chaos. He's going to be heading for the first shrine to Chaos. I wonder if he's actually going for a daemonic ascension or something more ambitious which is to fill Asaver Kul's shoes and become the next everchosen?

Northern Trident? I like Northern triumvirate better.

Yeah they're in the Dark Lands.

If we took the trade deal he may have listened.

Maybe but arrogant attitude would sour relationships even if we did do the deal with him.

Not to mention the fact that Hochland had caused trouble the dealing with Ostland by trying to reap the rewards without putting any effort. The Black Mark against them pretty much won't be forgotten until Hochland extend the olive branch first.
