Are you sure about that? Right here Seruk is clearly giving her Commodore rank tabs. I think it's just the promotion won't go through if she manages to cling to the Enterprise.
It may be provisional on her not be reassigned to Enterprise.

Also, I edited my last post to reflect the post you made and gave some decent points! Take a look :)

Also, How about a Compromise everyone!

We give Nash one more FYM, and give her a chance to die in the chair or peaceably leave the seat...if she survives but doesn't give up the seat willingly, we push her off like some want too now...

Seruk has done a pretty good job, IMO. I'm not too worried about Old Guard fucking around with us.

It's written strangely, but Straak wants a 5YM assignment. Give Nash 10 years and not Straak? Why?

That's exactly what us opponents don't want to do. You're saying your compromise is to get everything you want?

as much as I would like to see Nash continue her roll. 20pp on top of her -5pp a year is just to much.

but I do want to see Sulu out there. especcialy as were angling to have sulu the elder replace us.

Okay, so...honestly having Straak off of explorer corps duty when he's been pretty great at it so far feels pretty wrong. His character arc isn't really completed, you know? I think we can afford to give him another five years searching the stars.

However, one retained captain per cycle is a good limit so someone else will have to take the fall. Take your promotion with some dignity, Commodore ka'Sharren. Have a nice time! Flirt with Leaniss now that she's no longer directly part of your chain of command, and/or that pretty totally-not-a-Cardassian woman who keeps showing up coincidentally.

I'd be all for Straak getting anouther assignment if he wants one!

I want her to stay in as long as I can get...

I really don't eat to dump 20 pp down the chute so that Nash ka'Sharren can continue to suffer under the somewhat egotistical perception that the Enterprise is her personal property.
You ever left a workplace you really liked? Nash commands some of the best and brightest in Starfleet. She is out there finding new and exciting things and meeting new and exciting people, with intellectual peers who share her personal blazing desire for discovery.

It's not about personal property, or ego. She simply knows this is her element and she will never have it better.

Nash Ka'Sharren is well worth the price politically. Narratively and mechanically, she completely neutered the Cardassians, providing the narrative openings to the Hunt for Grey October and mechanically besting them at almost every turn -- even setting aside the technical issue case. Her bonus gives us a true flagship to rally around, and her ability to keep dancing through life has allowed us immeasurable leeway.

Remember that time she fired on a ship and we didn't get militarization points, only for the Cheron to pick them up for having a close-in flyby of a Cardassian vessel? Kirk rules, baby, and they are sweet. We should not toss away that passive bonus.

If this was Kirk or Picard would we be hot and bothered about shuffling them off now? (Then again. Nemisis wouldn't have happened > : V)

I mean. Everything else aside... she seems to have /IRL character shields/ going by the Lorgot incident. I mean. That is a lot of narrative weight to throw aside.

No, I want her to stay until she can helm the Enterprise C or dies on the bridge of the B...I'm trying to reach out with SOMETHING!

Changed my vote, because I would like Straak to keep up the job if he wants.

Altering, I had read that Straak was more interested in the Oberth berth not that he was willing to take on another 5 years. And Mrr'shan because she is a very good captain (+1 C, +1 P straight up) and it sends a strong signal that we are putting someone from a new member in command of our most prestigious ship

I think that, sadly, we're going to get one more 5YM max out of her anyway. Look at the pushback now.
So yes, I agree that one more 5YM is a compromise as compared to "Undying Lesbian LichCaptain of the Starship Enterprise".

Still holding off on the captaincy vote, although pushing Seruk out to ensure we get to pick the successor to Kahurangi is good, and my vindictive side favors doing it too.*

And it is definitely the case that if Straak wants to keep his chair, after we let Nash keep her chair through two five-year missions, Straak has a good claim on consideration. He's done pretty well too.

@OneirosTheWriter, I haven't actually seen anything with Megan Gale in it (yes I have not seen Fury Road I am a disgraceful barbarian). But if you think she (or or rather, her 2001-vintage self) has got the acting chops for the role, I'm penciling her in. :)

It's your quest, after all.

On a side note, I checked with @AKuz, and she reminded me of the pictures she did for Nash in STO:

Dunno if that influences anyone's thinking.

*It's not that I oppose Nash having to leave the chair. I have mixed feelings on that; my heart says 'stay' and my head says 'maybe she shouldn't stay.'

What I don't like is Seruk raising a 20pp stink over Nash staying in the chair. Plus, as mentioned, we may need him gone in order to pick our successor, as opposed to just getting whichever of the vice admirals has seniority.

It's time for Nash to take on another role; futile to try and go for it, perhaps, but still. For the Enterprise, I think Mbeki would do well - more Presence and re-rolls for most diplomacy he's likely to encounter. For the Sarek, Sulu for similar reasons. For the Miracht, Mrr'shan - giving Presence *and* Combat (that ship sees quite a bit of combat, I feel).

Casting-wise for Nash, weirdly enough I think Terry Farrell would be a good option... Previous casting issues aside.

I think we'd all have to do more research of who was 'hot' around 2001. What was Angelina Jolie doing around that time, for example?

Why not Straak? He wants another 5YM.
Why do you think I changed my vote

this is why I'm now gunshy of trusting Old Guard...he basicly screws us, over a decision THAT IS OURS TO MAKE!

It's funny, Nash is worried about being forced off Enterprise at an age when most Captains are first starting to push to get onto the /EC Captain list/

Also, NashFact™: Nash Ka'Sharren was born in 22.......69 *Immature Romulan laughter*

It may be time for Nash to move on, plus this would be a good way to get her ready to take command of the explorer corps down the road. Also if we use the next snakepit to push out Seruk we can move Nash to work with Sulu so he can groom her for advancement. In addition I want Seruk gone since that way we can leave our choices at all positions.

After another 5 year mission Nash will be 47. We can get a lot more out of her still after that in a Commodore position, especially since by then I expect our next PC will be at the top of their game.

I can't vote for the Enterprise captain. I want Mrr'shan on the Enterprise because I love the symbolism of having a Catian captain on our flagship to show to our affiliates and new members. But I can't agree with pushing Nash out after all she's done. But that 20pp cost hits us hard given the fact that we've taken a lot of penalties to our pp for this upcoming snakepit and I'd hate to have to put off the counselors again. Arrrrrrggghhhh...So....Conflicted......

Farrell would be a great choice, but, yeah, previous casting. And she might be sick and tired of having to stand around getting alien makeup applied EVERY DAMN TIME.

Jolie was already fairly famous as a movie star in 2001, and I suspect her payscale might have been too high to bring her in as a TV actress.
