@anon_user , @OneirosTheWriter , can we get some more details on what 'Disruption' does, to give some context to this vote? We can infer what new local assets or 1d3 new leads means... but how should we assess the difference between 1,2 or 4 Disruption?

What scale does it operate on? Was there mention of a 'menu' Disruption points could later be spent on- can we see (a sample?) of that?

The omnidisciplinary stats of the Tiger Teams also seem like a weird choice to me, one would think that specialists would be more useful in such matters. I am probably missing something there though.
Oh! I just thought of another reason why the Padani would have generalist teams like that. Because in the inevitable event that things go horribly wrong and you lose teams left and right, the remaining teams are still capable of working toward the mission, even if their likelihood of success is reduced.

Yes, there will be a menu to pick effects from.

Likewise, when events fail on the Defence, the Harmony get Access points that they can pick penalties to apply to you from.

I'll probably let @Iron Wolf pick those, I think it would be cathartic :p

That's... something all right. :o

However I was wondering/asking if we could get some examples from the menu? So we have some feel for what 1 Disruption means vs 2 Disruption vs 4 Disruption? And a feel for, say, the scale of Disruption a 7-point plan could get us vs a riskier and more aggressive 15-point plan? Doesn't have to be all of the options if you're still workshopping, but I'd appreciate some examples.

Right now it's a partially blind vote which includes Disruption Mystery Box points.

Token support for the more aggressive plans.

Also I second Alliterate's request for an idea of what's going to be in the Disruption mystery box.

Eh, the winning plan is the cheaper version of my plan. I liked it so much, I voted for it too! There's a definite advantage in remaining covert, and a definite advantage to saving PP. Considering we're all kinda stumbling in the dark on this one anyway, being conservative for one quarter is unlikely to hurt us, and might shield us from Murphy. If we don't poke the node, they don't know we know where it is, so it isn't going anywhere. We can hit it next quarter. Or the one after. You know, when we have more teams, more intel, and a clearer idea of what we're doing.

There's a new day for the HoH coming and every new day begins with a...

Edit: Whoops, was to focused on juvenile word play to vote properly. :D

Looks like a clear winner and our starting approach towards the border conflict.

Discord Pt 2
[X][OFF] BV Investigation and Asset Building

Deploy following missions

Federation Border:
Patrol Sweep
  • Trigger a Mapping Event that the HBZ fleet will handle, with a reward of target identification. (You do not need to assign a Task Group to select this mission) - NO TASK GROUP NEEDED

A Harmony Supply Ship is headed to a suspected listening post at Alpha Apris III.
  • Mission: Hack ship logs when the cargo ship pulls into its expected next port at the Augr IV waystation by sneaking a team aboard the station. (Req: Computer 1, SophInt 2), Reward 1 Disruption, target identification - ASSIGN TASK GROUP WAVE

Bolian space:
Patrol Sweep
  • Trigger a Mapping Event that the Paddah Sector fleet will handle, with a reward of target identification. Chance of Harmony confrontation. (You do not need to assign a Task Group to select this mission) - NO TASK GROUP NEEDED
Set up Agent Cell on Bolarus - ASSIGN TASK GROUP SUNGLASS
  • Set up the bones of a local Bolian group. Next quarter can be expanded into an operational mission team. (Req: SophInt 2, Infiltration 2), Disruption 1, generate new assets

Licori space:
Patrol Sweep
  • Trigger a Mapping Event that the LBZ fleet will handle, with a reward of target identification. (You do not need to assign a Task Group to select this mission) - NO TASK GROUP NEEDED
Set up Agent Cell on Morshadd - ASSIGN TASK GROUP GUARDRAIL
  • Mission: Set up the bones of a local Licori group. Next quarter can be expanded into an operational mission team. (Req: SophInt 2, Infiltration 2), Disruption 1, generate new localised assets

Felis space:
Patrol Sweep
  • Trigger a Mapping Event that the HBZ fleet will handle, with a reward of target identification. Chance of Harmony confrontation. (You do not need to assign a Task Group to select this mission) - NO TASK GROUP NEEDED
Harmony Health Clinic on Puriurairaru
  • Mission: Information Hack (Req.: Computer 5, Analysis 2). Disruption 2; one new target per Analysis success above 2, d2 new missions against the clinic - ASSIGN TASK GROUP SEASON

Phase Two: Security

Known Penalties:

  • Amarkian Infiltration, -1 to all Anti-Harmony Operations rolls in this sector.

Suspected Penalties:
  • One of the subverted former Spirit crew members is strongly suspected of backdooring Federation communication protocols. The codes have changed, but the vulnerability is suspected to still remain.
  • Another Starfleet officer suspected to be under Harmony influence is building variations of attack bots based on the Radwin patterns, and is striking out from somewhere in Apinae space.
  • At least one starship has been having their events sabotaged by their computer. All events this ship attends will operate on a -2.You suspect it is one of the Central Sector ships.
  • Classified ship movements near OSA space appear to be leaking. As of yet, however, the mechanism is unknown.
  • Reviews of data from the Courageous has revealed the presence of carefully mapped Subspace eddies that allowed small cargo shipments to bust customs and deliver to Harmony assets providing them with weapons and equipment. Perhaps other sectors face the same issue? (Certain sectors increase Kinetic and Subdue success requirements by 1)
  • Staff operating the Point 20 supercomputer centre at Ke'luur, the central hub of the HBZ, have started reporting data anomalies. Perhaps it is nothing, but it could represent a problem. (It is a problem, +1 to Harmony Access for any failed or marginal event within the HBZ or Okatha)

Tech Teams can be assigned to Technical Obstacles or Research Opportunities. A number of d6 equal to the Team Skill will be rolled, and the sum applied to the task each quarter. When finished, each task will provide a bonus, take away a penalty, or will reveal a hidden penalty that is in effect.

Starting available teams:
  • Starfleet Science Academy, Skill 6
  • Andorian Academy, Skill 6
  • Starfleet Medical Command R&D, Skill 6

Technical Research Areas

  • Assess Harmony Influence on Isolinear Tech, Remove potential Isolinear research penalty. [40pt]
  • Rudimentary Starfleet computer core rootkit scan, on completion will identify all compromised ships on Type-III duotronics. [40pt]
  • Backup core purge routine, develop a system to allow compromised Ambassadors to reassert control via the backup cores. [25pt]

  • Increase Decryption, +1 Firewall Level. [60pt]
  • Increase Resistance to Harmony Conversion, +1 Infiltration to attackers. [50pt]

  • Rudimentary Harmony Agent Brain Scans, +1 to SophInt for defenders. [50pt]
  • Neurological-Nadion effect simulations, +1 to Subdue for attackers. [40pt]

  • Alternate approach brainstorming, generate new options [35pt]

Audit Targets
Now that Office 15 has an idea of what they are looking for they can spearhead efforts to isolate Harmony cells within Starfleet and the Federation. You can partner them with research teams that cooperate with the Ship Design Bureau to ensure that the asset is clean, and to start the process of clearing Daystrom and Amash Hagan of their suspected infiltration.

You are aided in this regard by the Integrity Office of the Federation Diplomatic Service, giving you two options each turn. They can partner with member worlds, such as helping the Amarkian Gendarmes clear their sector with the assistance of details from the Courageous.

Available Office 15 Partnerships
  • Daystrom, 1 Qtr, makes team available again.
  • Amash Hagan, 1 Qtr, makes team available again
  • Fleet Infiltration Assessment, 1 Qtr, identify penalties that apply within a given fleet or task force.
  • Command Threat Assessment, 1 Qtr, identify potential wartime penalties that exist within a given command

Available Integrity Office Partnerships
  • Amarkian Authorities, 1 Qtr, remove a -1 Penalty to all Anti-Harmony Operations rolls in the Amarkia Sector.
  • Theatre Threat Assessment, 1 Qtr, identify penalties that apply within sectors in this theatre

To expand upon your ability to Audit, during further legislation options, you can opt to bring on board the Rixx Scrutineers, Magen Sodi, and Vulcan Inspectorate.

Auditors:
Office 15, Starfleet Intelligence Command
Integrity Office, Federation Diplomatic Service

Ship Design Bureau:

Computing:
Daystrom Institute, Skill 6 Unavailable due to strongly suspected infiltration
Amash Hagan, Skill 4 Unavailable due to strongly suspected infiltration
Starfleet Science Academy, Skill 6
Experimental Computing Group, Skill 3

Communications:
Andorian Academy, Skill 6
Caitian Police R&D, Skill 4

Medical:
Starfleet Medical Command R&D, Skill 6

Uh, I might be wrong but it looks like something might have slipped through in editing? In particular, you have the following tech teams listed in the "Assets" but not in the "available teams":
Experimental Computing Group, Skill 3
Caitian Police R&D, Skill 4

More generally, it seems like the research areas should be split by what category they are (computing, communications, medical,) but aren't. I doubt you want to allow Starfleet Medical Command to work on Isolinear Tech.

So we have few resources, and a lot of issues, or at least that's the way it seems to me. So, what should be done with the assets we have?

For Office 15, I think our first priority should be bringing additional assets onboard. As such, I think we should get the Daystrom Institute back up as our first action there. Then, for the Integrity Office, I think we should clear the Amarki, so we're not suffering penalties that we know for a fact are affecting us. We could also take the Theater Threat Assessment, trying to clear the issue with Point 20. Then, for our computing options, I'm thinking the "rudimentary rootkit", to clear the majority of the fleet. The "resistance to Harmony Infiltration" option for our comms team, and "rudimentary brain scans" so that we start knowing what to look for in Harmony agents, which should put us on a path to getting rid of the implants for our medical team. What do other people think?

Starfleet Science Academy, Skill 6
Andorian Academy, Skill 6
Starfleet Medical Command R&D, Skill 6

Average roll of 6d6 is 21. Very unlikely to get as high as 30 progress or as low as 10 in a quarter. Starfleet Science Academy is a Computing and Communications team. Andorian Academy is a Shields (not relevant) and Communications team. And Starfleet Medical Command R&D is a Medical and Personal research. (Personal should be relevant, but no listed choices for that currently.)
Assess Harmony Influence on Isolinear Tech, Remove potential Isolinear research penalty. [40pt]
Rudimentary Starfleet computer core rootkit scan, on completion will identify all compromised ships on Type-III duotronics. [40pt]
Backup core purge routine, develop a system to allow compromised Ambassadors to reassert control via the backup cores. [25pt]

These are computing tasks. If we're lucky, the 40pt ones can be done in 2 quarters, but might take three instead. Four quarters is unlikely but possible. The Amby backup core purge has a, uh, 20.6% chance of completing in only one quarter. Since we appear to only have one computing team this first quarter, (starfleet science academy i,) I'd probably want to start the longer-term ones, so it's a (big) decision between removing the penalty to our new-gen ships, or identifying our compromised ships first.
Increase Decryption, +1 Firewall Level. [60pt]
Increase Resistance to Harmony Conversion, +1 Infiltration to attackers. [50pt]

These are communications tasks. The 60pt one will probably take four quarters, but might take only three. Personally I'd be more worried about the possibility of our attackers getting converted, IMO, but an extra firewall level is also a general improvement.

Rudimentary Harmony Agent Brain Scans, +1 to SophInt for defenders. [50pt]
Neurological-Nadion effect simulations, +1 to Subdue for attackers. [40pt]

These are medical tasks. I guess the second might be good for helping our offensive stuff, but the first is the only clear path towards maybe removing HoH implants and that stuff. I doubt anyone's not gonna go for the firs tin their plans.
Alternate approach brainstorming, generate new options [35pt]

This doesn't really fit into a clear category. I'd really want to start this only after we have more research teams going.
