1 Constellation-A (NCC-1829)

So 29 Constellations have been built/ordered since the class was designed.

1 Renaissance (NCC-2637)

Despite being a younger design, this is the 37th Renaissance order placed.

I believe these are the final Excelsior-nils to be refitted.

Technically, Stargazer is still on the no refit list. But we have no idea if we will see her again, or what she will look like if we do.

For a 2100kt Cruiser with a T3 large operation frame this are the statlines gained from T3H dutronic cores vs T4H isolinear.
This is based on one of the partlist used in the SDB with estimated stats for the T4 isolinear cores.
I think there might be a case for delaying the new cruiser program till the isolinear cores are ready.
Yeah, they're pretty shit.

Okay, I kid, but we're better off getting the hull in service faster. The time for research and prototyping is ridiculous, but for a refit is much quicker. Holding off is actually bad even when revolutionary technology is around the corner. It's better to design the ship to a refit.
e: and yeah there's no way in hell we're going to use the 2100

For one, I doubt we'll be using a 2100kt frame. For 2, we already won't be able to finish the first wave until the mid-30s, so we need to not delay.

I think for the Gorn we shouldn't worry about grabbing their diplomatic targets and instead target them directly. Unlike Harmony they can be affiliated, and eventually federalized, so species lost to them aren't that big of a deal so long as we grab them.

If we can spare the ships in the next couple years I'd really like to throw a Task Force at them for clearing their 100pt tags.

Absolutely need to target the Gorn before the Cardassians steal a March on us.

As in, not now, or not ever?

The bigger the hull, the more parts you can fit in, but there are diminishing returns. Adding a 5. Phaser gives only fraction of C that the first one did.

1,8 mt is where cruiser efficiency peaks currently.

With time and research, that will almost certainly change.

Cardassian Central Command: "What do you mean the Federation just commenced five new Ambassador builds!? They already started five last year!"

In other news; Federal construction programs are bullshit. I mean, that's what? 11 Ambassadors that will have rolled out of dock in 4 years? That's nearly 3 ships every year on average. And yes, this is with all our docks operational, but I suspect none of our peer powers have quite this production capacity available. Not even the Cardassians, after the recent cold war, not the Horizon (although they build much bigger) and certainly not the Romulans and Klingons (just got out of a shooting war that would've ravaged each other's economies).

Even if only half of them are Starfleet's I don't think anyone can keep up with this kind of build schedule.

Sadly the current list of principal cruiser frames has the T1 1,8mt as the best version in that size and the T3 2,1 frame has the same buildtime and needs 12 more power and cost 4 more SR an 12 BR, cost i am willing to pay as the larger frame leaves more space for later refits if we can find a team to research the 2,1 frames before 2327

Are the humans building their own Ambassador class right now or is it still scheduled to be build after the second Excelsior-A?

This tech will not give us the T4 Isolinear ship cores it will unlock the tech that gives those and that has a 80, 60 and 2 40 components.
Boosting this to 2324 is almost required as we want T4 cores for the explorer refits and 2327+ Heavy Cruiser program.

Even if we have Daystrom start that research right after in 2325, it will still probably take five years to finish. That means Isolinear being ready to use after the research turn in 2329. Meanwhile, the other gateway tech advancement, Phaser Arrays, will be finishing in 2325, meaning we could start our new cruiser project right after. With how long it takes to make new ship classes, it's not worth it to wait a single year longer than we need to.

It's up against the limits of what I can calculate but there is a small chance Daystrom could finish 2330s Ship Computer Cores in only four years instead of five. But, I think it's only a 1/8 chance without any boosts, and I don't know how the odds change when using boosts. Gaming out how the numbers will add up depending on where the inspiration +5 bonus lands becomes a much bigger problem if you also have another random +5 from boosting and there are four different areas (with different thresholds) they can land on. And if the +5 research bonus from USS Lightning also applies to 2330s Ship Computer Cores, then there could be three random +5s every year! Of course, this is all assuming the QMs don't change the research system soon. The reason Nix had a computer program to calculate the research turns is because a question as simple as "how many times should we boost this to finish it one year early" can become stupidly complicated.

On that note, IIRC, we will be looking into a refit for them by the 2325 snakepit to take advantage of phaser arrays. So most of the ones finishing after 2325 should probably add a year or so to the build time and come out Amby-A

2322.Q2 - The Snakepit

Thank the great bird of the galaxy for Commodore Taggart, is what you're thinking as you take your turn at the lectern. What had been shaping up to be the finest blow-torching a Commander had received in these venerable halls in many a year instead became a - sometimes grudging - acknowledgement for the response to the Hishmeri slave raids. Naturally, President Okaar was not backwards in coming forwards to claim her share of the credit. The emergency bill authorising the reinforcements you were able to give Commodore Taggart no doubt had a major impact. Even old man Stesk gives an approving nod at the psychologically insightful plan.

Some fire still continues to fall on Admiral Lathriss and the luckless Commodore Min-Jee Lee. After all, not everyone is privy to the arrangement with the Gorn. And even among those who are, there are several biting criticisms levelled. Even you have to take some time to appreciate and savour just how many dimensions of barbs are contained in the comments levelled at you by Councillor sh'Arrath. As the kingmaker-in-chief of the Expansionist faction, she is no great fan of these shenanigans. But at the end of the day, you know this way is the best way to avoid long-term conflict. Thankfully, the quarter that could have provided the loudest row was, in the end, the quietest; the Hawks are loathe to criticise the distributions and actions of Admiral Lathriss, as the first Amarkian to achieve that rank in Starfleet. In the end, you suppose, interplanetary politics is a crock.

Shouldn't blowing up the Eternal Empire have gotten rid of the Hishimari [Eternal Empire Influence] tag?

And shouldn't the various GBZ specific options be obseleted?

We already bought additional resources last year, so we should be able to buy 5 pushes now, right?

We also already bought this one last year.

Good, the Pacifist lost a seat and the Hawks gained one. That should help.

Now, how to get in contact with the Kadeshi and our missing ship...

what is the effect of:
Reorganise a Starfleet Command from a Vice Admiral position to an Admiral position. Pick one: 50pp for Shipyard Ops, (This may create subordinate Vice Admiral positions)
What kind of bonuses we can expect if we vote for this?

we should grab all 4 of the mining colonies this time as well as the Argus subspace telescope.

We get another Admiral position (highest rank currently possible), as well as that department likely gaining new Vice and Rear Admiral positions - will be vetoed by Council if they do not feel the department is big enough to warrant the change.

From our point of view, gives more locations to shuffle important characters into before they retire.
