Nah, they're saving that for the Risan Galaxy.
I figured you were looking at near future builds.Isn't only one commencing this year though? The other is planned to commence next year. Then they (and Risa) are planning 2327 Amby builds but that's so far into the future that build plans are extremely subject to change.
Then what was the 'Happy Fun Times'?
You are talking Betazoid diplomats, right?Risan Galaxies would be the best, most luxurious space liners in the galaxy.
Perfect for diplomatic functions too.
[Risan]Wouldn't diplomacy include parties and relaxation among friends? Not everything has to be stiff and formal.[/Risan]

Never said anything else. What's the problem with them?
Risan-Betazoid ship sounds like a wonderful diplomacy vessel.
If we're doing so well that we have 68 other Galaxies, they can call theirs whatever they damn well want to!No reason why they wouldn't re-use the name, so the Risan Galaxy would the USS Love Boat-A (or B?) NCC 6969
The Risan one will be the first of its kind.If we're doing so well that we have 68 other Galaxies, they can call theirs whatever they damn well want to!
I think we'll have to see just how much better the Ambies are at this in the field. As it stands, I think that we could universally agree that exchanging a green Excelsior for a fresh Ambie is prudent. For blooded and veteran Excelsiors, though, it would be a net point loss. Sure, we'll have to bite the bullet someday, but if there's no yawning chasm between Excelsior and Ambassador performance at this point in time, we'd be better off kicking the can along until the curve is something we can't ignore. So are we not going to crew the Ambys we are getting through the federalization process with EC? Seems to me like we want to get the changeover of Excelsiors to Ambassadors in the EC done as quickly as possible.
No, but the point isn't to exchange them point for point. The idea is to get the ambies skilling up because at blooded and veteran they exceed the excelsior in every way and we need that to deal with increased event difficulty.I think we'll have to see just how much better the Ambies are at this in the field. That's fair. Relatedly, do we have an idea of how much XP ships get from task force duty vs regular garrison service? No, but the point isn't to exchange them point for point. You've missed what I was suggesting: only a field test will show us how critical that difference is for EC work, so we should take that into account before we make that kind of determination. This isn't actually true. Only an elite Excelsior-A has equal points with a green Ambassador, with +2 Combat and -2 Defense. Veteran and blooded Excelsiors are slightly better or equal at combat, but worse at everything else. So we should be looking to swap over as quickly as possible, especially since once the veterancy kicks in the Ambassador is just better in every way.
Which to my knowledge has never been supported in a statement by Oneirosthewriter or any other GM, ever, and exists solely in the realm of a lot of posters insisting that, "It just makes sense that Events DCs will rise. It just makes sense."
