So, what does everyone think of trying to shake loose a couple of ships for Clean up Nigim task force?

I could shake loose a cruiser from somewhere, and then we toss the T'Mir and a Turtleship on it as well in Q3.

I have a feeling if we let it wait another year, the Orions will totally f&%k it up.

EDIT: Add this attachment:
-Starfleet Spacelift: 10pp on Purchase, 5pp per year. Enables major disaster relief.
I think that's probably a good idea.

As funny as a new running joke is, this does build the very real anticipation of a payoff at some point. Eventually. Maybe. Sometime. A sunrise in Winter. Five moon alignment. When Zalgo goes to court. Frumple.

...

And that's how it ends! The United Federation of Planets is gone from the galaxy, forever! Game Over! Let's see how you did:

I would love to put some ships there.

Okay, I made a try at a distribution including an anti-goo TF. Manged to pry out a blooded Constellation (by juggling Apinae and Rethelia sectors) and an Oberth to start it off....

So, as I understand things, the Looking Glass verse Sol system will be now be back in it's original time and place, minus the massive number of anomalies and the 2nd Vulcan Fleet.

The Vulcan ground troops (mostly Andorian and Amarkian) will either be wiped out or surrender - without orbital support their leaders were expecting total casualties. Probably still take a lot of Humans with them though.

The Solarian Fleet has been reduced to their 3 Dreadnoughts - Enterprise, Yamato and Liberty (Liberty sat out this fight, being tied up to a repair berth in pieces). They lost, at minimum, a cruiser and two frigates plus whatever happened before this all went down. Hopefully some of the crew of the lost vessels could be recovered. Yamato needs a tow back to the repair berths though.

They have Revelations (assuming it can work more than once) to make their system immune to conventional assault.

They have whatever scans, examples, left behind equipment, quietly waylaid data etc from the Federation ships from roughly 50 years of technology development ahead of them to try to reverse engineer from. Knowing something is possible is a big step up after all.

Romulan Liberty is from 50 years ahead, and will no doubt head to Romulan space to give them the heads up on what is coming, with 50 years of recordings of Technocracy atrocities. Hopefully that Romulan government will let them share with at least the Human and Panidi (spelling?) enough to form a workable anti-Technocracy coalition. Maybe that will be the base for a future Federation in that universe, maybe not.

Could you stick the Kepler to clean up the goo and put T'Mir to map the gulf? Let the new shiny science frigate start off messing with gray goo instead of mapping space rocks.

2322.Q1 - Deployment Vote
[X][HANDSHAKE] Accept the deal. TF Handshake will disband at start of 2322.Q3 [Gorn pleased, tag progress on 'Great Power Ambitions']
[X][REF] Establish an event-generating patrol sector for Ruby Eyes' Folly, requirement D7.
[X][DAWI] Establish a joint mining colony at Ruby Eyes' Folly [Your income from Ruby Eyes' Folly reduced to 20sr, Dawiar gain 20sr income]
[X][STO] Allow deployment to Trill space as part of a Starfleet task force. [-15pp, Task Force Option unlocked.]

"Madam President," you say as you again stand before your boss. Another installment of what the Federation security detail colloquially refers to as, "ninety minutes of blind terror", with the two most powerful people in the Federation sit down in the same room again.

"Admiral, good, you're here," replies the President.

"Madam President, I can tell you the preparations for an STO deployment to Trill space under the auspices of a Starfleet task force are underway," you continue. You take your seat across from the President. As usual, she isn't behind her desk but on one of a small collection of seats and couches in the middle of the room. She always did have a preference for the face-to-face rather than staring contests across the ancient lumber.

"Good, good," says Okaar, and though she nods, you can't help but feel she sounds distracted.

You hitch forward in your seat, elbows propped on your knees. "Something the matter, Jime?" you ask, dropping some of the formality with your concern.

"Ha, just gathering my thoughts," she replies. She takes another moment, fixing you with a careful look, and now you can tell you have her full attention. "Shey, I had my office pull a number of Starfleet Operations' draft deployment plans."

A look of surprise spreads across your face before the normal poker reflexes kick in. "Interesting reading?"

"Yes, actually. We're spread rather thin," she notes.

You spread your hands helplessly. "Starfleet has eighty-one operational ships, including the Explorer Corps contingent. More than double what we had at the turn of the century, true, but we've gone from six duty stations to eighteen, plus task forces to fill out."

Jime gives you a small smile. "That is true."

"And even as we keep the yards churning, and the Academy ever-increasing the intake, it will take time to return to the old balances."

The President holds up a finger. "Now, to go with that, among member worlds there are over three hundred starships. Firepower that exceeds that of Starfleet twice over. And to top that off, Ambassador-class starships are going into production for not just Starfleet, but UESPA, the STO, Andoria, and Tellarite State Forces."

"And we are as always grateful for that backstop," you say, a little drier than you intended.

Jime is silent again for a while, just watching you. The idea that she is browsing through your brain is inescapable, even though there are a number of laws and regulations that say that using telepathy on anyone with Class 1-AAA clearance is a serious crime. But even without mind reading powers of your own, you know she is building to something, so you wait.

"It is some thirty years since the treachery of Admiral Cartwright at Khitomer. Some twenty years since the fall from grace of Admiral Rogers," notes the President. You shift uncomfortably in your seat as that bit of dirty laundry comes up again. Never a fun history lesson for Starfleet officers.

"Ma'am."

"For a long time now, the fleets of individual Federation members were emphasised, not just to help service the growing polities, but ... also as a bulwark against further malfeasance in Starfleet. Old ship classes were forcibly retired in advance, ships were transferred to the member fleets, the Excelsior program was scaled back."

"Yes, ma'am."

"But then your predecessors began to repair the damage," she continues. "Admiral Kahurangi, Sousa, Sulu. And now we face a different matter altogether. Starfleet is now only a minority."

"But nonetheless the largest component," you feel compelled to add. By now, however, you're starting to feel the tiny hairs on your antennae stand on end.

The President concedes that with a nod. "Yet now we are looking to add the Honiani. Yet another duty station for Starfleet, and one with a lot of parsecs to manage. Another culture that may represent a difficult integration into the Federation."

"Do you have something in mind, Madam President?" you ask.

Jime Okaar nods and leans forwards in her seat, face now close to your own. "There is an agreement between the old core worlds, plus Betazed. Perhaps it is time to wind back some of the old precautions, and restore Starfleet to its primacy. We wish to Federalise the fleets and infrastructure of Earth, Tellar Prime, Vulcan, Andor, and Betazed."

[Federalisation process beginning]

[ ] [TASK] Form Task Force:
MISSIONS:
ACTIVE MISSIONS -
[Counteract Horizon diplomatic efforts in the Horizon Border Zone region]
-The Harmony of Horizon has begun an aggressive diplomatic push, attempting to discredit the Federation and promote their own agenda. The FDS believes that Starfleet can play a key role in countering Horizon propaganda.
-Mission: Remove [Horizon Influence: 30/100] tag from Licori, [Horizon Influence: -15/100] tag from Felis, and [Horizon Influence: 26/100] tag from OSA.
-Ships assigned to this Mission would do well to possess a high level of presence. A certain degree of combat effectiveness might be necessary, but so far the Harmony has been content to wage war with words, not weapons.
-Free FDS Diplomatic Team attachment - no upfront or maintenance costs for this team for the duration of this mission.
[Conduct covert diplomacy with the Dawiar]
- Starfleet Intelligence and the FDS believe that with effort, the Dawiar can finally be peeled off from the Ashalla Pact. The Pact is known to be unpopular on Kharhazad, and covert diplomatic support for opponents of the current government could lead the Dawiar into friendly relations with the Federation. With Dawiar trade now being more active across the Themis region, opportunities for such covert diplomacy have multiplied.
-Mission: Remove [Ashalla Pact: 93/300] tag from Dawiar
-Ships assigned to this Mission will benefit from a robust science score to avoid Cardassian entanglements; as well as requiring a sterling presence score to do the bulk of winning of the Dawair
-Free FDS Diplomatic Team attachment - no upfront or maintenance costs for this team for the duration of this mission.
-The Qloathi have donated the Arqueniou Leb Nin to the cause. No upfront or maintenance costs for this vessel, still counts for the 25% cap. Does not count towards the 8 points of member fleet ships currently called up to task forces.
[Dissuade Hishmeri raiding]
The Hishmeri attacks on Pirin III and Via Nova, and their brief alliance with Empress Hayant have made the Hishmeri Septs a matter of serious concern. A deterrent fleet may be advisable to prevent further raids.
-Mission: Remove [Raiding Federation Colonies: 35/100] tag from Hishmeri
-Ships assigned to this Mission require a high combat ability; a certain level of presence and a high level of defence is also desirable.
-The Federation has assembled reinforcements for Task Force Shield: 1 Excelsior-A (Thalisar the Last), 2 Renaissances (VCS Sitar and TSS Mugat), 2 Constitution-Bs (VCS T'Plana Hath and UES Equality), 2 Centaur-As (UES Nairobi and Sevaijen) and 2 Centaur-Bs (UES Oslo and TSS Thruq). These ships do not count towards the 8 points of member ships currently called up, but do count towards the 25% limit.

OTHER MISSIONS -
[Deter Aggression against the Trill]
While Starfleet does not have a formal treaty with the Trill, members of the Federation are concerned about the possibility of aggression against them. Arrangements have been made to deploy a task force to protect the Trill, with their permission, and to strengthen ties with them.
-Mission: [Deter the Ittick-Ka]
-Ships assigned to this Mission require a certain level of presence and a reasonable combat capability.
-The Sarqel Treaty Organization has organized a force consisting of the Audacious-class cruiser SFS Serene, the Constrictor-class cruisers SFS Constrictor and SFS Coral, and the frigates QSS Arquila Leb Hoiathi and QSS Alboa Bal to support these efforts. These ships do not count towards the 8 points of member ships currently called up, but do count towards the 25% limit.
[Clean up Nigim]
-The Yizgisi nearly destroyed their civilization with improperly designed nanotechnology. The nanobot swarms have been contained, but cleaning up after them and helping with relief efforts could do wonders to improve relations with the Yizgisi as well as give us a rare opportunity to study a mass nanotechnology event up close
-Mission: Resolve [Continent of Goo: 0/100] tag on Yizgisi
-Requires: Starfleet Spacelift attachment for 10pp/5pp ongoing
-Ships assigned to this Mission will find a high science score to be a requirement for success, and will find a decent Presence score to be an advantage as well.
[Help Scout the Adazzi Gulf]
The Indorians and Apiata have done an admirable job exploring systems in the Adazzi Gulf with limited resources, and danger lurking around every corner. However, they are wary of overextending. Some assistance from Starfleet would help encourage further exploration
-Mission [Explore the Gulf]
-This is an EC-Lite mission, backfilling in what those gloryhounds have long since rocketed by. Science will be paramount to finding star systems with strategic and economic value. Presence will be necessary for encounters with other spacecraft and for possible first contact scenarios.
-The Apiata have donated a Forager already assigned to the mission, No upfront or maintenance costs for these vessels, but still counts for the 25% cap. Does not count towards the 8 points of member fleet ships currently called up to task forces.
-An All Pyllix Geological Institute Team will be freely assigned for no cost and no upkeep.
[Conduct diplomacy with the Gorn]
- The Gorn are beginning to look outward once more, and we intend to meet them. The FDS is prepared to conduct ordinary diplomacy, but due to the distances involved, requests support from Starfleet for more extensive efforts.
-Mission: Remove [Great Power Ambitions: 75/300] and [Distant Stars: 0/100] tags on Gorn. If a [Cardassian Influence: 0/100] tag emerges, remove that tag as well.
-Ships assigned to this Mission will require a sterling presence score to do the bulk of winning over the Gorn. A respectable combat score may also be useful for impressing the Gorn.
-Free FDS Diplomatic Team attachment - no upfront or maintenance costs for this team for the duration of this mission.
[Generic: Pick a Tag]
In addition to these missions, feel free to propose any number of your own missions. Pick a tag to work on for each.

If you have other ideas for task forces, please send us a PM or chat on Discord and we'll take it into consideration.

Perhaps it is time to wind back some of the old precautions, and restore Starfleet to its primacy. We wish to Federalise the fleets and infrastructure of Earth, Tellar Prime, Vulcan, Andor, and Betazed.

Well, that goes further than I expected.

I confess, I shall miss the member fleets. I like that we could delegate and that we could call on member fleets with different doctrines and design philosophies.

Yeah, if we're not taking this this turn, we absolutely need to diplopush the Gorn in the next snakepit to make up for it.

Please stand by, Briefvoice needs to recalculate a bunch of stuff to make sure he's not taking more than 25% of anybody's fleet and look at some of the new options before proposing a plan.
