I somewhat dislike the idea of naming anything after people so that leaves curiosity

Pity the prototype for the warp engines did not work as well as we wanted but at least the new weapons perform to spec and are ready for our next design.

Our next target option, unless Starfleet had a separate team working on it or something urgent has come up, should probably be the utility cruiser - now that we have something surveying all the new Federation planets to know what needs development where, at least outside core space, we should get an engineering ship out to start exploiting new resources, developing new colonies, and generally making sure that we have a solid foundation upon which future exploration can be built.

EDIT: also, something worth noting - this project came together over the course of no more than two years, assuming we went from Jan. 1st, 2162 to Dec. 31st, 2163. Much more likely is that this project was basically a year from start-to-finish in-universe, which isn't bad for a peacetime "prototype all the things" project like this is.

I'm really happy with this design. Our first UFP Starfleet ship is a peaceful surveyor with double the Science of the NX class, proper shields, transporters, shuttles, and is fast to boot. I think we did really great here.

The current generation of warp coils can only maintain a +0.1 warp factor increase to cruise and maximum velocities when in a parallel configuration.
While it's a little disappointing that we're 0.1 Warp off, the parallel design still works. We might not use it again this generation of ships, but once we have new Warp Coils, it'll be a good option.
