[X] UEF Stingray, for the aquatic creature that her flared half-saucer makes her resemble.

[X] UEF Intrepid, for the spirit that this first major step past Warp 3 signifies.

I doubt that this will win, but I think I'd like to start naming conventions with emotional or aspirational names instead of animals.

Little confused about what some of the stats mean exactly, but it seems alright?

But yeah, it'd be one thing if we were making this a full out warship, but like... A relatively short ranged patrol sloop? That's like, basic of the basics in terms of asserting your sovereignty of your home system. Only the Vulcans who are hardest on "Suppress the young species" would begrudge that.

It'd be another thing entirely if it was good at projecting power, but it's really not? It's not really fast enough to project power. It's got decent teeth and impressive maneuverability for a first gen Warp Capable ship, but its low mass, crew, and relatively short legs means that it's easy to spin it as just common sense defense.

Like, Vulcan Arch-Conservatives will complain about it, but they also complained about the canon NX-01, which was hilariously undergunned at launch (It was weaker than the fucking Stingray I would point out, it Only had Spatial Torpedoes at launch IIRC), just because it was theoretically capable of Warp 5 and they thought the human race was too immature to be allowed out of their safety bubble. There's just no pleasing some people.

The Vulcans have faster more impressive ships, so yeah I don't think they would really care about a patrol ship, since that's what this is meant for.

I like Intrepid as a name, but I really would like to use it for a science ship instead of a glorified patrol boat the greatest military ship of all time!

The Spatial Torpedos are interesting, they're obviously very weak, but they seem to cost far less industry that the phase cannons, I wonder how the comparison of damage output to industry consumption stacks up.

In fairness, they were a bit right about the NX-01 not being quite ready, and the crew not being quite ready either
