@OneArmedYeti I did have the seeds for yellow dye, would you be willing to help me scavenge the shore for driftwood instead of the extra linen?

(I imagine it would be a passive, sorry if it sounds like a major action)

You said you gave them to the town, so they're going in the town inventory rather than your personal one. You can certainly adjust that, but that's the default.
How is it being decided who gets them though? I imagine that like everything in the stockpile, it is an as needed basis, but there are a whole lot of people going out into danger and four is nowhere near enough( three actually, one is going to Erik)

"For the spinning of all the flax I've harvested, your payment is to be one third the product.

For seed who's plant can be refined into dye, your payment is to be me helping you this Winter search for driftwood while guarding you.

For the creation of an embroidered tunic and wall hanging out of the best quality linen from my first harvest in this new land, both fit for gifts to a prominent clan, your payment is to be decided by us next Summer between Linen, Flax, yellow dye, service, or a combination of those, and is not to exceed 3 additional bushels of Flax or their equivalent.

Are these terms acceptable?"

Totally fair to keep one for Erik. But yeah, at the moment we're just handing them out at need. If you want more control, you could keep them and do so yourself?

But really, we'd probably hand them to the warriors who seem to need them most and currently lack alternatives. No chance of people who can make their own armor getting them, for example.

I think I might propose a law this coming Thing to the effect that if you take something from the communal stockpile and it isn't consumed by the project (so, like, if you take the gambesons and come back without them being torn to shreds), then they must be returned to the stockpile.

Agreed with Deadman that it's reasonable, but it also seems like the sort of odrengskapr that we can just handle with normal confrontations, arguments, challenges, and Things instead of making our Lawspeaker remember more stuff.

Unfortunately there's no good supply of an oil bearing plant or fish that we've found to waterproof(Linen rots Super easy untreated), likely one of our next supply chain priorities.
Somebody has tar, though if you use tar to waterproof linen fabric it's going to be stiff as all hell and I'm not sure that's good for a sail.

I...think I want to go with wild craft and maybe alchemy if it is available? Eventually someone will some neat rocks and I want to be able to recognize Hematite and Lazurite and be able to turn them to dyes. I also need natural alum.
Talking to Steinarr Stonelicker for anything involving rocks is probably a good idea, at least if you're braced for him to talk your ear off. Since you're Norse, you can just stick it back on again.

Hmm...
I am guessing by setting the payment next summer, you wanted your commission then. I however had planned to commune with the spirits of jungle around us, to east, north, and west of us. To see how they feel and if they are amicable to the people, including those on your jungled hills.

So since you would be involved with that, which project would you prefer done first?

No that seems fair. Agnes would be a bit irritated if Ragnarr grabbed one this coming season, but not enough to raise a stink about it.

Your Lawkeeper is the one that deal concerns so I am going to remember it anyway :V

Can passives make progress on this? Historically "spinning thread" was one of those continuous background hum activities that were part of everyday life as a routine occurrence.

@OneArmedYeti I will take that flax-linen commission.
But I'm sure Agnes is a very, very fine spinner along with being a great weaver, so yeah.

Arnleif Whistler returns from the jungle carrying 3 live sleeping velociraptors(?). They turn them over to Hrolfr and ask for first pick on the first brood.
Arnleif Whistler is now Arnleif Velociraptor-Juggler to me.

I'd like to request that you don't monopolize Steinarr's time, since I need his help building the smeltery, which is a pretty crucial piece of infrastructure.
Do we have enough stone to do that and the runestone for Galti Sea-Rider? Can he come back from the dead at us again? He was pretty hardcore as Zombie Viking Aquaman last time; not eager for repeat customer zombie superheroes.

We have enough for the smeltery and one more runestone. Also IIRC people are planning to raid the quarry again this winter? So we might get some more stone.

Ragnarr would never do this, for the record. He can make excellent armor out of blood, and will probably be the last person in the village to receive non-conjured stuff.

Now, he might grab some for people going on his expedition, depending on what else is going on, but for himself? No chance.

We have just enough for him and the smeltery, and are gonna try and get more stone this Winter.

Not quite. The Quarry was determined to likely be too hard a target, Ragnarr is mobilizing Harald and Steinarr to try and dig straight down to bedrock instead.

Don't think anybody is planning to raid the quarry, they think the security will be up after the last raid so Ragnarr is trying to find stone by digging underground.

EDIT: Ninja'd

"I must have the tunic as soon as possible, which I believe is Summer, partially to give you the time to make good linen and partially to give me time to make dye that it might be proper. The wall hanging could wait as long as three seasons, but as long as you were working on a project I thought they could be completed at the same time.

I am willing to add additional compensation for this change in your plans, that should the quality doubtless be as I have asked, the payment for the tunic and wall hanging shall not be less than 3 bushels of Flax or their equivalent, and shall not exceed 5 bushels flax or their equivalent, and that whenever you should venture to ease the spirits, I will accompany you as guard and assistant((Passive))."

Alternatively @OneArmedYeti, it can instead take a minor action. It will still be a very fine piece of work, but ultimately mundane (Warding requires major action, to make it self-repairing, self-cleaning etc). Then I could indeed have it done by summer as that will give me all winter to start a collection of dyes. I have enough yellow dye to do one of the pieces and potentially have a source for green and red. I will be looking for more colors, or at least more shades as well.

Erik is chatterbox as well, Agnes can deal with it. She would ask if you could keep an eye out for interesting looking rocks that he would be willing to grind into powders to see if we could get dyes out of them.
So just to confirm, only mountain land is left for ownership?
You can also work under someone else I believe.

Alternatively, he is OK with switching the order to two tunics and a wall hanging, at the original price+ the offer of a passive, with one to be made with a Passive now and the finer tunic and wall hanging to be made with a Major later.

By later he means more than a year.

Does that work?

Harald seems visibly excited at the thought of having more colors of dye available for his gif...NEW TUNIC

*blinks* S-sure?

(Agnes feels like she should have asked Erik more about what went on at the party)

Agnes agrees to your proposal with the final addendum.

@I.F. Ister some additional potential Ordstirr awards leap to mind, and now would be the time:

1. Hulfr has gotten a lot of rave reviews for his shields, is that worth some Ordstirr?
2. Several of us brought liquor to the party, I assume we likely no longer have the liquor, but that's probably a pretty good move for general popularity. Seems maybe Ordstirr worthy?
