FUCKIN ENEMY!

What the hell? A straight up "15% chance rolled on everyone, if you roll below it you die, no save" What the hell was this? Why didn't they just drop it while Halla and Abjorn were present if it was that powerful and that strong an AoE?
I feel the term "no save" has gotten watered down here to something like "I was not given notice of the enemy's plans so I could take interrupt actions".

In D&D where saving throws are from, a wizard will be like "I cast Finger of Death, make a DC 22 Fortitude save or die" and the fighter getting fingered might be like "I have +9 from class levels, +6 from Constitution, +3 from cloak of resistance, that's +18, so I need a 4 or better".

85% chance of escaping death, AKA needing to roll 4+ on a d20, is exactly how a saving throw works. The farm inhabitants are getting a save to not die. It's that roll.

Anyway, my Reward Dice is rigging for Sigurdr, he's our anointed heir and all. This is the time we've hoarded Reward Dice for
I have one die I'm willing to spend on this, but the thread is a little messy and I'm uncertain, do you think I should pick a kid now or wait and see who's left after the first 12 hours of faster people discussing?

One of our next projects should be establishing runic defenses around our home. The Norse rely on sort of a web of retribution and a code of laws to protect their farmsteads as much as physical defenses - that won't cut it against the Enemy, evidently.

ANYWAY

A CALL TO ACTION

The Enemy is fucking around and trying to ruin our fun! We're not going to let them have it
Everyone except for Halla and Abjorn are currently rolling vs a DC 15 on a 1d100, modified only in two ways! Their Hamingja and any Reward Dice! We need to put all of our reserve dice to action ruining his sinister ploy!

Currently, we have the following people with Reward Dice on hand!

@jy3 , @Omegahugger , @Franco Asuriano , @Drieder , @Shard , @Exmorri , @mastigos

The current List of People Who Are In Danger is as follows! I will keep this up to date as the event unfolds!

HOW TO INTERPRET:
Moderate Danger: Over 5% chance of Death, but under 10% (Again, this isn't great for any one of them, but there will be a lot of rolls involved)
Reasonably Safe: Sub 5% chance of Death. Might die, but only if the dice are really out for blood. (Still, there's a lot of rolls happening here)
Probably Safe: We have reason to believe that they'll be fine, but the Hamingja is unknown so we can't be absolutely certain.
Absolutely Safe: It is mathematically impossible for them to die here.

STATUS:

There was an omake swarm sometime after IF went to bed, depending on the results, we may have achieved success and rigged this so hard that the Enemy gets nothing.

Nothing

Well done gang!

The Block said:
Stigmar (+5 from Franco Asuriano, Moderate Danger)
Stigr (+5 from Sirrocco, +5 from Alectai, Combined with Godly Luck, is Probably Safe)
Tryggr (+5 from Alectai, Moderate Danger)
Trausti (+5 from jy3, Moderate Danger)
Gabriel (+5 from jy3, +5 from Sirrocco, Luck Equivilant ???, Reasonably Safe)
Kurt Frogtongue (+5 from Silverking, +5 from Alectai, Reasonably Safe)
Haydis Yrlingasdottir (+5 from DeadmanwalkingXI, +5 from Dreider through DeadmanwalkingXI as a proxy, Hamingja unknown but presumably mediocre, Reasonably Safe)
BABIES BELOW, MUST PROTECC
Hallotta Kurtsdottir (+5 from DeadmanwalkingXI, +5 from Dreider through DeadmanwalkingXI as a proxy, +5 from Sirrocco, Hamingja unknown but presumably 1-2, ABSOLUTELY SAFE!)
Asgeirr (+5 from Shard, +5 from Exmorri, +3 Hamingja, safe from anything but a Nat 1!)
Sigurdr (+5 from Alectai and DeadmanwalkingXI , current modifier of +13--safe from anything but a Nat 1!)
Eyvor (+5 from DeadmanwalkingXI, +5 from Shard , Current Modifier of +13--safe from anything but a Nat 1!)
Hallbjorn (+5 from Shard, +5 from jy3, +4 Hamingja, ABSOLUTELY SAFE!)

For reference - the chance of individual people dying is quite low. However, due to the way probability works, the chance of at least one person dying is somewhere between 80-85% before accounting for reward dice.

Gabriel probably doesn't have Hamingja, but his Knightly Armor should improve his survivability?

Call to Action is updated. We will spend every bonus die on saving our peoples!

Hopefully!

This is what they're for.

We still have 8 Bonus Dice left unaccounted for among the remaining people in the Call to Action.

Plus, you know, it's not impossible for people to churn out more Quality Content in this period of time to continue rigging.

I don't want this cheeky fucker winning anything from this gambit

1 for Gabriel
1 for Trausti

Updated the Call to Action, thanks mate.

Operating on the meta layer like this is the only weapon we have to foil The Enemy's machinations, let's use it.

EDIT: Oh hey, you've got one more on the table, you reserving that or spending that one too? I'd say this is exactly the time to spend Reward Dice on, but you earned them in the end.

We still need 3 more to give two to all the kids (and yes, I think we should include Hallotta in that...after Hallbjorn, but still).

I think after that Haydis should get some as well (we're gonna have a hard time hiring another woman to help around the house, I think), along with Gabriel and Stigmar (I have faith in Stigr's luck to at least some degree here), but I admit we're getting low on dice at that point...

Defiance (DeadmanwalkingXI)
Half-men (1) bring Hildr's-storm (2)
Harm hewn at the helpless
Cruel coward's calling card
Crow's-food (3) they find themselves

Fire's-daughter (4) found fearless
Fuels fervor for foiling
True teachings pass onwards
This thrust will not serve you

(1) Referring to the Foemen, here. Insultingly, but hey, they're enemies.
(2) Kenning for battle.
(3) Kenning for corpses. Usually using ravens or wolves rather than crows, but I needed a c-word.
(4) Referring to Halla poetically, obviously

So, poetry. Halla wouldn't write this herself, it talks her up too much, I think, but it seemed right to write something about what's actually going on here and actively defying the enemy. It breaks several Skaldic rules because there are so many of them, but I did legitimately try (okay, I gave up on the rhyming real quick).

I'm having a tricky time coming up with a name...this is basically 'Screw You, Enemy' in poem form, but that is a bad title.

I'll mark it down as 'Unnamed', pending a better name.

I thought of a name, it is now titled 'Defiance'.

I'll be using that on this event on either Hallotta or Haydis but which depends on what other people do with their dice. Maybe I'll try another poem and get one for each...though I doubt inspiration will strike me like it did for that one so it may be a bit.
