I'm still surprised Abjorn didn't get a Kenning for that absolute nuts attack he did. 10 damage in one go is stupid. Especially since he didn't have any conditional damage boosters to add to it. He just hit really, really hard.

Kennings are about things a lot of people see you do or hear about, not what's objectively true or impressive. We got Longstride despite having below average Overland because a lot of people saw us move quickly at the Trials. Abjorn would need to do that in front of a crowd to get an immediate kenning.

Anyway, while the last year of gameplay was super plot dense, I hope we get a little bit of relatively quiet time before the next major event now, we need some time to finish cleaning up our build and hopefully understanding a bit more about Odr.

Huh, now that I think of it, you've got a ton of Reward Dice Deadman, you want to throw any of those to hopefully rig for a Superior Sax? It's our first Weapon forged by our own hands, that we're putting extremely valuable materials into after all, and if we can fix for another 2 point progress on Hammer in Hand, we can get that Boon and whatever it unlocks.

I think it's actually the first real "Levelled Up" Boon we've got on the table, I wonder what it does?

We still need to try and get more evidence on Horra...I doubt the twins have no evidence at all, but I also doubt it's definitive. My personal preference is to do that at the end of Winter then the trial at the start of Summer, that puts them on immediately subsequent turns and hopefully lets us set things up with plenty of time to also actually do things about him before Steinarr's timeline is up. Also gives us time to try again before the timeline is up if we fail to get the evidence on our first attempt.

You have a point, but I honestly kind of want to save up for lifesaving rolls and/or improving our children's options. I'll throw in the renewable one, though. I'll add that to the plan.

It is worth noting that the materials aren't used up if we're willing to reforge, which seems potentially relevant.

If you ask me, the best use of reward dice are lifesaving rolls, hints, children trait rolls, Gacha rolls, and background rolls.

Speaking of which, don't we roll for a random event every turn, modified by our Hamingja?

Would learning about (and how to avoid) the next major obstacle(s?) be worth 3? Anyone else got ideas?

I mean, if you're offering the Big Bux. It's your request, it's just that we're fumbling around blind here and open-ended questions like that probably won't work.

Hrm.

Well, if you're donating, how about "What's the biggest thing we're overlooking based on what we have access to right now with regards to Odr?"

I mean, the List so far is...

1) See if we can do that Weaving thing that we tried back before we had Saga Establishment
2) See if we can Infuse our Skills
3) See if we can Infuse our Twists
4) Finish getting our foot in the door of our Attribute Infusions.
5) Figure out if we can duplicate that nice environment the Dwarves had and if that assists with Odr Condensation.
6) Prepare a killbox for when we tell everyone The Dealy so we can check the Enemy's immediate response.

That's the obvious avenues so far anyway. We're trying some of them, but there's a lot more to go and we're largely in the dark so far.

Each time you've cultivated so far, it's been away from your house — in the outside beyond the fence.

Perhaps you should try cultivating while inside the fence.

...

We didn't specify to do so, huh, yeah, that absolutely qualifies as a "Thing we're overlooking." Even though we never specified to do it away from our place.

@DeadmanwalkingXI ! Find a Research Die to put into that!

Added to the plan.

Er...we cultivate automatically for free, why would doing it inside the fence take a research die? It certainly needs to be specified but shouldn't take a die.

Ooh, good question. I'll happily add a good rune sequence to the plan if people come up with one.
"My kiss brings forth serpent-father's master" = Uthgard-Loki reference, "whatever gets hit with this gets set on fire".

"No summons like a mother's call" = Appears in our hand when we call its name. Handy for a backup weapon if we don't want to draw it?

"No matter where the raven-father wanders clad in grey, I will know him by his hoist-scar" - Suggested this upthread, a vorpal sword variant. Wherever the sax strikes, the wound appears on the throat.

Can we fit different rune effects on different parts of an item? Cuz the calling effect on the handle and the throatslit effect on the blade would be lovely

It's made of molten iron so it sort of has that automatically. I don't think we need the redundancy.

These seem reasonable, though.

[X] Plan Making Our First Weapon
-[X] (Personal) Spend time with...
--[X] Everyone who went on the attack, plus our two new employees. Plus steinarr if he wants to come.
--[X] General after-action report stuff, discussing what happened, asking the twins if they know what locals were helping or supplying them, as well as why two groups had joined up, and so on.
-[X] (Crafting) Try to make something
--[X] Molten Iron Sax (+7 Successes from Tools/Workshop)
--[X] Start using instead of Thievesbane if it's at least Decent.
--[X] Add 1 renewable Reward Die courtesy of @DeadmanwalkingXI
-[X] (Exploration) Go on a walk through...
--[X] Our Farm (I think that's the fields, but just to be clear)
--[X] With Abjorn.
--[X] Taking Drifa and Sterki with us, assuming their parents approve, the kids deserve to explore a bit and it's safer with us.
-[X] (Rolled)
--[X] Train Firebomb-Strike 2d6 (1d6) (+1 Success from Born of Fire)
--[X] Train Ember-Winged Cloak 2d6 (1d6) (+1 Success from Born of Fire)
--[X] Train Campfire 2d6 (1d6) (+1 Success from Born of Fire)
--[X] Train Sickness Sear 2d6 (1d6) (+1 Success from Born of Fire)
--[X] Train a Dodge-based Trick that enables the use of multiple actual dice to dodge 5d6
-[X] (Research)
--[X] Odr Note: Will have Abjorn, Sten, and likely Steinarr and probably several others (we'll do it after the meeting where we discuss things) standing by when we invest our Odr into our stats, and will invest it one point at a time. Will do this unarmed after handing our weapons over to Abjorn.
--[X] See if we can bring our fylgja into our soul space and thus bring in physical objects, if we can bring in the sealwood twig and try and plant it 1d6
--[X] Very carefully try investing 1 Odr into our newly created weapon 1d6
--[X] Do more bible reading with Jerasmus 1d6
-[X] (Blackhand's Training) Try to develop old/train new hugareida tricks
--[X] Train Halting Vortex 1d6
--[X] Train a Standstill Trick for an area-of-effect that slows enemies and thus makes them less effective 1d6
-[X] (Training) Tricks
--[X] Note: While Sten is teaching us, ask him about the best way to make mail armor, and on an unrelated note, if a weapon can be reforged in a way that leaves its spirit intact and how that would work.
--[X] Train Goal-Tell 1d6
--[X] Train Cool-Off 1d6
--[X] Train Skewer-Flick 1d6
--[X] Train 'Mail' Armorcraft Skill-Trick 1d6 (+1 Success from Sten, since we asked)
--[X] Train a counterattack Trick that works with the atgeir 1d6
--[X] Train a Throwing Trick for grenades, boulders, and so on (something cheap to allow us to put more than one die into throwing something) 1d6
-[X] (Training) Hamr (60 successes to rank up)
--[X] Train Hamr itself 1d6
--[X] Train Chop 1d6
-[X] (Training) Hugr (26 successes to rank up)

--[X] Train Weaponcraft 1d6 (+1 Success from Sten)
--[X] Train Wordplay 1d6
-[X] (Training) Fylgja (9 success to rank up)
--[X] Train Fylgja Itself 1d6
-[X] (Orthstirr Usage)
--[X] 2 Odr and 4 Orthstirr to Hamr
---[X] 1 Odr and 3 Orthstirr into Chop, 4 Defend, 4 Dodge, 4 Glima, 3 Bash, 3 Pierce, 3 Throw, 3 Cut, 3 Labor, 3 Overland (33 total)
--[X] 3 Odr and 4 Orthstirr to Hugr
---[X] 3 Barb-Tongue, 4 Composure, 5 Housecraft, 3 Management, 4 Scouting, 3 Silver-Tongue, 3 Strategy, 3 Tactics, 5 Weaponcraft, 1 Odr and 4 Orthstirr into Wordplay, 5 Wildcraft (42 total)
--[X] 3 Odr and 2 Orthstirr to Fylgja
---[X] 3 Command
--[X] 1 First Impression
--[X] 235 free for tricks

Note: the throat strike won't make it do more damage. Norsemen are built different and they do not die from blows that, by all rational logic, should kill them.

They only die when they are forced to release their grasp on life.
