Also, @Imperial Fister what do Shattering Scream and Glass Shard actually do? If we know the names we should know the basics, but they have not come up previously.

Can we use Dry-Off on the ground to turn it back from mud, since we know that one of our foes intends to turn the ground to mud.?

I'm not sure if Dry Off has enough AoE for that, and also I suspect we need to focus a bit more. I was thinking Magni could use Rock Hugareida to deal with the mud issue, or Trausti could freeze the ground...

Just so you don't feel like I've tricked you or anything, Jogrim isn't going to be a pushover. He has the skill and talent to be in the Near-Peak ranking, but simply lacks the raw power to be beyond Top.

Abjorn has a temper, but more importantly there are three of them, wrestling lets you shut down exactly one person. It lets you shut that one person down really well, but only the one.

We probably need a few people on this. Maybe send volunteers? @Imperial Fister do any of our people have a particular friendship with Gorm Bloodslick or Snorri Deepsleeper? Maybe asking them to keep them busy would make sense?

Yeah, the thought is to send a fighter or three to fight defensively and keep them busy without killing them until we get Jogrim down. Like, I'm pretty sure we're all thinking delaying tactics not knocking them out.

I want to give Kare the chance to take out Joe, as I've stated. I think sending Abjorn to help him might be a good call though. Abjorn can wrestle him into submission and Kare can take off his head. Seems like a fair amount of focus on the man.

I think we might be needed for this bit. Like, we just had a very specific warning that Jogrim is probably more skilled than we are...Kare and Abjorn may not be enough, and we want him dead quick.

I'm thinking we (and Stigmar) help Kare, maybe focusing on support stuff (we certainly have a fair bit of stuff to disable enemies) and sic Abjorn on Kjallakr?

Eysteinn and Snorri are decent friends. Magni and Tryggr are friends with Gorm

Okay, so, here's my basic combat plan idea trying to combine being on Jogrim and involved with giving Kare the kill as is dramatically appropriate.. This relies on Kare being good at teamwork so as to take advantage of the openings provided, but that is basically his whole specialty, so...

[X] Plan Directly Help Kare
-[X] Orders: Tell Stigmar to take to the air with us and the archers to abandon the rocks, have Magni and Trausti secure our men's footing against mud with their Hugareida and grab Eysteinn and Tryggr and go to keep Griss's men busy while trying not to kill them, ask Abjorn to go handle Kjallakr and keep him from being a problem with his ranged and area-of-effect abilities (using his flight item to close), and bring Stigmar along with us and Kare to force our way through to Jogrim.
-[X] Goal: Take to the air and personally target Jogrim using Flashfire Cleave trying to use Dead Air to suppress his and other uses of Shattering Scream, while wrecking his armor and using our disabling Tricks to set him up for Kare to kill him. Oh, right, also @Imperial Fister we have a Mastered Tactics Trick for gauging how much effort enemies are putting in. I'd think that would get us a rough range on how much Orthstirr they're spending? The above Orthstirr amount is basically a wild guess. We really need that info to plan that specific thing properly, and we have invested heavily into having it so we should probably generally get that info going forward.

Relatedly, our other Tactics Tricks should give us insight into Jogrim's greatest strength and weakness and whether he or Halla is a better wrestler. Those are only Refined, but they still seem like they should get us something.

Entirely off topic from the fight, but how do we unlock an oil quenching research? Beyond the tempering issues water has, water causes oxide scale to penetrate deep into iron weakening it even more.

We actually do oil quenching most of the time when it's important (we have hearthroot oil and have used it). Shields are inherently a bit disposable and these are made with Bog Iron to boot, so corners may be being cut slightly, I guess?
 
I don't think sending friends against friends is the best idea here.

If we want to minimize deaths we'll want to kill Jorgrim ASAP, side-by-side with Kare.

This is an ambush, not a duel.

And sending friends to deal with Griss men might seem a bit bad, but i am sure they can manage to keep them busy without killing them. Or maybe talk them down. Hopefully the Norns don't feel particulary cruel this day.

If I remember right, the research for heartroot oil quenching was to take advantage of it's magic properties. With how productive our farm is we should have plenty of extra seed to press into oil to then use as a full replacement of water. The question is how many techs we need to research to get to that point in the tech tree.

Quenching in Hearthroot Oil doesn't consume it, is the thing (it absorbs the heat perfectly and then remains hot for a very long time...we've been using it to heat the house), so we can easily quench literally everything important we make in it with no issues.

I'm saying we shouldn't need to invest in this...for anything important we can do it already. If we didn't on the shields it's either QM oversight or purely because they're disposable.
