Yhea, i too trought that Gabriel was going to confess to Halla.

If once we arrive to Wessex Gabriel feels bad, maybe we can offer him to stay with us? If he wants i am sure there is a place in the Valley for him. At this point the other Norsemen must have accepted his presence, so maybe we can help him buy some land (i don't know if he has money of his own) and make his own farm?

He'd probably just stay at ours...his farming skills are not up to solo farming. But yes, he'd of course be welcome to stay. I think he may feel obligated to go home, though.

Then we should talk again with him, before he makes a choice he will regret later.

Maybe we should also try to play matchmaker for him, i am sure the Valley is full of ladies who would want a piece of the brooding and misterious foreigner with an heart of gold.

Of course there's the problem that he's limited in cultivation and culture if he stays. Like, he's very Not Norse, you know? He gets more sympathy from the vikings than from his own country, but that doesn't change who his own sympathies are with.

I don't think we need to specify that. We aren't forcing him to come on this trip, he's clearly welcome to stay with us.

There's a lifespan issue with him becoming involved with a Norse cultivator. He'll be alive hundreds of years from now barring violence and they will not. Plus having the woman you're in love with try to set you up is, uh, awkward.

That's certainly an issue, but on the other hand, his life span is, conservatively, 10 times a normal human one. Him spending the next 24 years among the Norse (for a total of 30) is, as a portion of his life, the equivalent of spending about 3 years for a real person.

Did he do anything at all during the Trollmen attack?

He was in the valley but not actually on the farm during it.

Not to mention, getting distance from Halla might be good for Gabriel's heart.

Like, while I'd vote for including Gabriel in the family, I don't think that's likely to happen.

Some distance, and a chance to find a love interest that will love him back should be good for Gabriel.

I have no idea if someone has made this comment before, but doesn't that make Gabriel the (tolkien-esque) Elf among humans?

Honestly romantic relationships must be turbo messed up in Feudal Cultivation Europe if women can't be cultivators.

Like, very rapidly, uh, the, uh, Age Difference becomes massive.

As you said maybe he feels like its his duty to return to Wessex, so we should remember him that if he wants he is always welcome to return.

Maye his wife will convert, or maybe they will simply tresure their time togheter and move on. Who knows.

But you are right, it would be pretty awkward try and play matchmaker for Gabriel.

I suppose if we want to see him again, we can just set up a trade deal with his family. They give us Blessed Coal we give them something else in return. So we can keep meeting Gabriel as friends and allies.

I at least want Halla to taste the Blessed Coal once.

No, women can be cultivators, just not Knights. They can still be Nobles or presumably pursue Clerical cultivation as Nuns. At least, from what we've seen and heard.

At some point during the trip if it seems needed, sure.

Nuns can't marry anybody.

Right. But neither can Priests and Nobles sure can. I actually did a whole post talking about how this meant a majority of Nobles were likely women since all the Knights wives and daughters were Nobles as well as all the male Nobles and their wives and daughters.

Unfortunate, i was already planning to turn Halla in a Harem Protagonist.

Technically, everyone (including society) would probably be fine if she and Abjorn shared a girlfriend. She'd officially be Abjorn's concubine, but people would be fine with it. I'm...dubious this is gonna happen, but it technically could.

Being pursued by tons of people, ignoring it, then ending up monogamous with First Girl (or First Boy in our case) is very traditional for harem protagonists.

So, how many people are actualy in love with Halla?

We have: Abjorn, Stigr, Gabriel, that guy from the wolf hunt who flirted with her (don't know if he counts), maybe that boy who tried to kiss her when they were babies (Svenn right?).

The people from the Wolf Hunt don't count, but Folkmarr was also interested at one point.

So you're saying Gabriel needs some stripey socks and a crop-top?

And a willingness to wear them and date Abjorn. None of which he possesses.

Halla of course 'only' has Beautiful, if she had the Improved version we would probably have a Halla of Troy sideplot hounding her for life.

(Probably not, but still.)
