I mean we could give him a seax, for ultility purposes. Everyone could use a good Seax to carry around for back up.

Fucking hell, Best Girl just saved our bacon, stopped the fight and didn't actually end up ripping our arms off to do it. Gonna be a while to work off that potential Sin, but it could have been a lot worse.

Now what though? We got our ass kicked, and it's not like we've been slacking off on our training, we even got to get some good practice on the giant elephant monster, the zombies, and the army of horrible goblin things.

It wasn't quite as one sided as you think, Halla was burning the candle on both ends to keep up, if you didn't lose your temper and focused on attrition, you'd have probably managed to tap her out before long. Norse don't do sustained battle nearly as well as you guys do, even if they can spike like you wouldn't believe.

Do we get to see the Halla character sheet now that we're out of tutorial mode and had a proper fight?

I suppose I can give you a few bits and pieces, I was going to give it to you in the next update, going to have to redact some parts, but you can get the basics

Orb said:
I'll pay you seven reward dice to not redact it and let us scream at the implications

We're not going to get any explanation for what half of this means anytime soon, are we?

Actually, @Imperial Fister, if Halla were to try and say the Enemy's name or reveal the existence of it, does she feel anything like when she tries to reveal the secret of odr?

IIRC discussing the Enemy doesn't automatically trigger a Tribulation like revealing odr does, but it attracts the Enemy's attention to you and makes it more likely that it will see something that causes it to send an attack manually.

That's actually pretty good, IMO, if brief.

There is one mechanical omission...we did also have Target-Tracking Eyes for that fight rather than a Fast Creation in our normal shapeshift slots (we still had one Fast Creation in our Fylgja). Our Forgefire should also be IV at this point, though that one's wrong on the official character sheet as well at the moment.

It has not!

Which trick and what's the vibe check on?

We're trying to slip Gabriel just a little bit through a stunt with saying one thing but Eye-Talking and dancing around the topic

The subsection specifically is this.

But while you're saying that, you're holding another conversation. In English, using Eye-Talking. "Norse cultivation is all about building a story. I meant something more meaningful than that, but one of the fundamental principles of our cultivation is also that Power Requires Sacrifice and neither you nor I can afford the price that would be demanded if I gave you details right now. I'm working on a way to tell others, and I'll work hard to make sure you're there when I do. I suspect I'll need your aid then."

Like, is this going to trigger a Sudden Enemy Reaction or is this subtle and sneaky enough to slip beneath his notice?

Does Gabriel know the three tenants of the Norse Cultivation system? I don't think we've ever mentioned those tenants to him before.

One important thing to note:

Using a Calm Charge to restore an aspect, burns it out for several turns afterwards. So going forward, this is to be used only in desperate fights, not spars no matter how important that spar is for character development.

Oh huh. Christian Cultivators only get Psyche + Psyche Infusions as their capacity? No Wordplay Equivalent? Brutal.

It sounds like it only burns it out for one turn, actually, just like burning for +3 successes on a skill roll. Each turn is 2 months and that's the timeline Halla cites for likely getting it back. And agreed in general, though I'll note that we didn't burn it until this was no longer a spar even this time.

My suspicion is that Clerical Cultivators do get a Wordplay equivalent to boost Capacity. Chivalric Cultivators, however, do not (or possibly could in theory but are not taught about it or encouraged to focus on it). The whole system is a bit more regimented and separated than the Norse one.

Well, it gives a bunch of information to them, I figure it's like a 'and they have the right to look and listen at you for the next minute~hour~day or so' kind of deal. Which obviously sucks, since more information equals to attacks and plans against you that are more sophisticated and therefore more likely to succeed.

Not so much a 'right' as a 'reason'. There's a bunch of norsemen and the Enemy can't keep tabs on every one of them 24/7 any more than it can personally arrange the death of every one of them. It'd like to, but it has to pick and choose.

So... just thinking about the various revelations about the Enemy holistically.

In effect, Norse Cultivation as it is practiced, was carefully crafted by the Norse Gods as a xianxia-style Inheritance to pass down to their children. Somewhere along the way, they killed Ymir, and he got all bitter about it. So now he is constantly messing with the norse, trying to prevent them from advancing in every way he can find, because he knows that's what the Gods want, and (bleep) those guys.

Like, there's no grand plan. There's no Deeper Truth. The Christian Cultivators don't have a problem with him because he doesn't ahve a problem with them. It's not that their cultivation style is somehow less vulnerable or anything. It's that Jesus Christ didn't murder Ymir at the dawn of time, so he doesn't care about Christian Cultivators.

This is all one long, enormously drawn out vendetta that this one guy has but he can't usefully attack the people he actually hates so he takes it out on their kids instead.

That... feels kind of appropriate, actually.
