...There's an entire category page for 'Superweapons' on wikipedia, and these are only the most notable ones I've encountered so far. There is a lot of planet-destroying tech out there in the EU.
I believe what he was trying to say was that the concept of the destruction of Coruscant was not that far-fetched.

Err... yeah it did?
...There's an entire category page for 'Superweapons' on wikipedia, and these are only the most notable ones I've encountered so far. There is a lot of planet-destroying tech out there in the EU.
I never said the EU didn't have more ridiculous things than the Death Star, I said that the ability to destroy a planet has been around since the first movie. You don't need to look to all the ridiculous nonsense in the EU to blow of Coruscant, you had a weapon that could destroy it from day one.

Honesty I wonder how the Vong manage to destroy Coruscant considering the amount of people in it, I never really read the books.

Well they took the planet with ships and everyone who could evacuated. Then I think they just let the people who couldn't get off planet starve to death, or maybe get hunted down by hobbyists and eaten by the new wildlife. I mean they terraformed it and that probably killed a lot of people, but there were a bunch of people running around alive when Jason was on the planet and they didn't really seem to care.

Yeah, the Vong didn't destroy Coruscant. They just took over and started fucking everything up, terraforming and just plain causing rampant destruction. But plenty of Coruscant remained when they Republic retook it, a testament to its sheer size.

In the end the planet not worth getting back apart from the symbolic.
Its weird the Republic ended up in a civil war within a decade considering the amount of deaths caused by the Vong.

Turn 25 Results (Pt. 1)
[X] Wookieetarian Action: The Wookiees have constantly been facing raids from the Trandoshans for ages and would certainly appreciate help in protecting their homeworlds from their raids. Sending a few teams to patrol the area could go a long way... Chance of Success: 75% Cost: 50 Reward: Anti-Trandoshan patrols set up around Kashyyyk system, ???

Rolled: 78 + 5 (Bonus) + 20 (Omakes) = 103 (Over 100 Success)

This ended up escalating quickly.

The initial plan was for them to run patrols around the Kashyyyk system to deter any potential raids from the Trandoshans as well as drum up some good PR in the region. Straightforward enough.

The thing is that the Trandoshans launched a particularly vicious raid around the time your men arrived; while they managed to fend off the majority of them they still managed to take a number of prisoners back with them as they fled.

In response to this your teams in the region proposed a punitive attack to punish the Trandoshans for their attacks, and with your blessing they teamed up with some vengeful Wookiees to launch a rescue mission/punitive strike on the moon of Wasskah.

...Which ended up being slightly redundant because as it turns out that one Ahsoka Tano was also captured during the raids, and she had quickly broken out, gathered several prisoners together, and began launching several attacks to help free even more. By the time your forces arrived the island she had been taken to had been completely liberated, letting the rescue forces launch attacks on other areas of the moon. While the Trandoshans quickly called in reinforcements from Trandosha, the rescue teams were still able to rescue a considerable amount of prisoners from the moon.

When one of your people asked Tano about how she managed to be so successful at her insurgency on Wasskah, she downplayed her role and said that it was because she had good help. When they asked one of the others who were with her, they said that she had displayed tactical and strategic acumen far beyond her years, to the point where the Trandoshans thought they had been fighting a Jedi Master.

(Thrawn never said anything outright when he heard about this but he did have a slight smile on his face afterwards.)

At any rate, you also managed to get the favor of some VIPs during the mission; apparently one of the prisoners was a highly respected member of the Claatuvac Guild-one Chewbacca if you remember correctly-and offered to put in a good word with them. The other was one General Tarfful, a close friend of Chewbacca's who declared that in light of recent events he would be campaigning for Kashyyyk to join the CNS.

And of course, rescuing Tano made Anakin much more...agreeable when you decided to speak with him...

Rewards: Anti-Trandoshan patrols highly successful, Claatuvac Guild negotiation action becomes free next turn, increased chance of Kashyyyk joining CNS

[X] The Legacy Of Madmen: Your (okay, PR-1's) examinations of the galaxy have led to the discovery of a marvelous vessel: the Arkanian Legacy, the one-time mobile headquarters of Adacorp and a massive research facility as well. The catch is that while this ship is still relatively intact, it's currently drifting in the middle of an asteroid field filled with hostile exogorths. It will be extremely difficult to get in and out with the ship, but a vessel like that would be invaluable. Chance of Success: 40% Reward: Arkanian Legacy recovered
-[X] Grievous

Rolled: 92 + 23 (Bonuses) + 20 (Omakes) = 135 (Extreme Critical Success)

So it turns out that Grievous was...well...

The Kaleesh general had been frustrated once he had heard that he had missed the chance to fight Durge, and had been looking for a fight. Fortunately(?), you gave him the chance to fight exogorths, some of the biggest and deadliest creatures in the galaxy.

It seemed like the second you finished telling him what you wanted him to do he instantly rushed off to gather men and ships to help recover the Arkanian Legacy. You only realized what you had gotten yourself into when Raith called you and told you that Grievous had commandeered the Invisible Hand the moment the refits were completed and took it and a support fleet to Omonoth.

You're not 100% sure on the specifics of what happened there, but apparently Grievous managed to carve a path through the exogorths that allowed salvage teams to move the remains of the Legacy out of the asteroid field before they looked into it...and they hit the jackpot.

Apparently while the Republic had launched a salvage operation of their own shortly after the Legacy was left adrift and had managed to recover a significant amount of data and materiel from the ship. However, some of the Arkanians managed to locate a database hidden within the ship that retained a significant amount of data. Despite the fact that the databases were incomplete, they still contained significant data on technologies and designs from the Jedi Civil War era, which could prove invaluable to your research efforts in general.

As for the ship itself you managed to luck out on that front; representatives from Arkania were ecstatic after they heard that their planet's greatest legacy had been recovered and offered to rebuild the ship free of charge, and it should be ready within the next few months.

All in all this has turned out to be highly successful...and you're fairly certain Grievous has never been happier; the Kaleesh has become something of a celebrity on Arkania once they heard that he was primarily responsible for the recovery of the Arkanian Legacy. Not to mention that he somehow managed to transport an exogorth corpse to Kalee as a colossal trophy.

Rewards: Arkanian Legacy recovered with minimal casualties and repairs initiated at no cost. +5 Learning Bonus from recovered data, Grievous gains "Exogorth Hunter" trait

[X] The Resurgent: Jango's oversight has effectively ended at this point, and given how much investment you've put into the man it's definitely worth bringing him in. Chance of Success: 60% Reward: Formally recruit Jango Fett
-[X] 5 Watcher teams

Rolled: 66 + 10 (Bonuses) + 20 (Omakes) = 96 (Critical Success)

It was a quiet day on Mandalore when you visited the Guardians' HQ; most of the people there were relaxing and enjoying the tranquil mood, though a few of them were sparring in the central arena.

However, there was one man you were looking to meet, and he was in the center of the arena, fighting off a small group of Guardians with ease. When he noticed your presence, he quickly floored his opponents, made his excuses, and made his way over to you. You quickly found a quiet room to meet in and stared each other down. The silence was overwhelming before you decided to make the first move.

"Your oversight has ended, correct?"

Jango visibly sighed. "I know I'm still technically a bounty hunter, but I have-"

"I'm not interested in hiring you on as a bounty hunter. I'm interested in hiring you on as a...consultant for lack of a better term." Jango raised an eyebrow as you continued. "My organization is always looking to hire talented individuals with a variety of useful skills, and you have talent and skill to a degree few others have."

"Assuming that I am interested, what's the catch?"

"Normally I would say 'none,' but realistically joining us would mean that you would participate in missions that would be extremely dangerous, though you would be paid handsomely for them."

"...I decline then. I can't run that kind of risk anymore and we both know that," Jango said as he got up to leave.

"You leave now and you place all of Mandalore at risk."

Jango stopped, and turned to you. "Is that a threat?"

"It is a simple fact, unfortunately," you calmly reply. "I can't give you more details unless you join, but what I can tell you is that there are forces in the galaxy that would be more than willing to burn entire worlds to ash should it serve their ends-and Mandalore would be a prime target for them at this point." You show no emotion as you stare Jango down. "Whether you like it or not, you can't run and hide from the storm that is brewing, Mand'alor.

...But you can help me stop it. Thrawn has placed a considerable amount of faith in you and your abilities, and I trust his ability to perceive talent."

Jango closed his eyes in thought for a long moment, before opening them again. "...Alright. One condition; I want you to make the same offer to Zam Wesell."

You raise an eyebrow at that. "Your...partner?"

"On occasion. We work well together and I can vouch for her skill."

"Your recommendation is all I need."

You smile.

"Welcome to the Abyss Watchers. It's truly a privlege to have the Mand'alor working with us."

Reward: Jango Fett formally recruited, Jango starts with "Partner In Crime: Zam Wesell" trait

[X] Recovering The Chu'unthor (Diplomatic Option): Instead of launching an all out assault to capture the Chu'unthor from the Singing Mountain Clan and running the risk of damaging the vessel during the battle, you could try and negotiate with them to gain access from it. Given their hostility to outsiders though, it likely won't be easy... Chance of Success: 40% Reward: Diplomatically gain access to the Chu'unthor
-[X] Thrawn
-[X] PR-1

Rolled: 24 + 30 (Bonuses) + 20 (Omakes) = 74 (Success)

This was...difficult.

As expected, the Singing Mountain Clan was very much hostile towards anyone who tried to infringe on their territory, let alone access their most vaulable site. In fact, it took considerable effort just to get Thrawn in a position where he was able to properly negotiate with them.

From there, Thrawn was able to speak with their leader, one Augwynne Djo, and managed to learn that the Jedi had actually attempted to recover the ship in the past, but they had struck a deal with the clan to allow the ship's crew to leave, but the ship and its library had to remain on the planet.

It took considerable time and effort on his part, but Thrawn managed to negotiate for access and retrieval of the ship itself. He later noted that unless you launched an all-out assault on the clan it would likely be impossible to recover the contents of the library and even then the odds were that said information would be destroyed in the process. Truly a pity, but in this case the ship itself is far more valuable to you.

Djo also made it very clear that Talzin was not to be trusted under any circumstances, and while you would normally write that off as meaningless slander recent events indicate that she may have had a point...

Rewards: Chu'unthor access gained

[X] For Bothawui's Eyes Only (CNS): Despite Bothawui's outspoken neutrality the planet has yet to formally join the CNS. Given that it's home to one of the most effective intelligence gathering agencies outside of the Watchers themselves, it would definitely be worth it to focus on encouraging them to join, and at the same time use the opportunity to get in touch with the Bothan Spynet. Chance of Success: 60% Reward: Bothan Spynet contacted, Bothawui and surrounding systems recruited into CNS

Rolled: 86 + 10 (Bonuses) + 20 (Omakes) = 116 (Super Critical Success)

"How about we cut to the point instead of playing the 'I know you know I know' game?"

"As rudely as you have put it I understand your point Master Terrek. The Bothan people-and the Spynet by extension-have been leery of joining the CNS because we were uncertain that it would be more beneficial than harmful. For all we knew we could have been tied to a failing confederation incapable of protecting itself."

"I take it the Ceasefire changed some tunes then?"

"That, as well as the territoral gains the CNS saw in recent months. It took some time to convince some of our more conservative members, but we now feel that it is in Bothawui's best interests to join. Though you are aware of what this says to the rest of the galaxy?"

"We can handle the negative PR from your joining us."

"That's not quite what I was getting at. Look at the composition of the CNS from an outside perspective: It is a significant part of the galaxy that is effectively untouched by war, has a military force that is only growing stronger with time, and is constantly gaining more and more allies both above and below the board. Yes, we do know about the deals you've made with some Core Worlds."

"And now we'll have our own intel branch. We'd be that much closer to being an official government in itself."

"Indeed. The only thing the CNS truly lacks is internal economic stability and it would be functionally independent from either the Republic or Separatists. Given the right propaganda one could easily make them seem like traitors to both sides."

"We can handle that if someone tries it, and we're working on the economic part."

"Ah yes, the issues with Rush Clovis and the IGBC, correct? We may be able to provide some assistance in that area..."

Rewards: Bothawui and many surrounding systems join CNS formally, Bothan Spynet unofficially favors CNS/Abyss Watchers. Intrigue action regained due to Spynet assistance.

[X] Sienar Custom Vessel: Now that you've partnered with Sienar you can request customized ships from them for a price. You can either send them a plan of your own, or give their engineers a base concept and let them work out the details. Chance of Success: 90%
-[X] Personalized Courier Ships: Unlike the rest of the designs you've suggested these are fairly straightforward: extremely fast ships that can be personalized before their completion by their prospective owner. They'd certainly be nice gifts to your high-ranking members. Cost: 150 Reward: Personalized Courier ships designed/selectively produced

Rolled: 54 + 10 (Bonuses) + 20 (Omakes) = 84 (Success)

Raith was more than happy to get to work on this project and the results spoke for themselves.

You still wish that Grievous didn't order such a large vessel though...

Reward: Custom Star Couriers produced, +1 Hero Action

[X] Cord of Three Strands: With the recruitment of Muunilist into the CNS and the successes you've had everywhere in revitalizing economies, you've considered the idea of creating an economic partnership between it and Kalee; the Kaleesh could provide warriors to protect the Muun and the Muun could finance economic development of Kalee. All they need is money. Chance of Success: 60% Cost: 100 Reward: Increased economic development for Kalee, increased stability for Muunilist and surrounding area

Rolled: 74 + 10 (Bonuses) + 20 (Omakes) = 104 (Over 100 Success)

With the recent shakeups in the IGBC leadership it was easy to get this economic plan pushed through in the area, and it has gone splendidly. The Muuns have been hiring on many Kaleesh warriors to help restore order and provide protection on Muunilist and other systems as they recover, and in turn Kalee is not only recieving funds from Muunilist but prefabricated buildings, modernized industry, advanced pharmecuticals...

One might say it's the dawn of a new era in the region; Kaleesh warriors have become regular fixtures on Munnilist and in the surrounding region, and Kalee is rapidly becoming more and more modernized. Surprisingly though after Grievous returned to Kalee briefly to celebrate his victory he seemed slighly melancholy. You managed to get him to open up about it and he was suprisingly poetic about the matter.

"I know that my people will be able to lead better lives because of this, and that we will never go back to being hunted like we were when the Huk came...but I cannot help but see the end of an age. Years from now we will not have hunters among the forests, but soldiers among the stars. We will not have craftsmen that weave clothing, but factory workers that will mass-produce it. My people will have better lives but they will never be anything like they were before now. As much as I am grateful for this...I cannot help but wonder what will be left behind as Kalee progresses to a new age."

"...Do not take this to mean I have lost my spirit. I will still fight for the glory of the Kaleesh until my dying breath, but now it is with the knowledge that my people have a brighter future. Now more than ever is that something worth fighting and dying for."

Rewards: Munnilist and surrounding space highly stabilized by influx of Kaleesh warriors. Kalee begins rapidly modernizing. Income from both planets increases by 50%. Kaleesh Warrior cap lifted.

[X] Bank of Ciaran: You've already invested in banks on Muunilist but why not take the next step and encourage the IGBC to become more integrated into the CNS economy? It would strengthen them and push more money through areas you control... Chance of Success: 60% Reward: Increased economic strength in CNS

Rolled: 64 + 10 (Bonuses) + 20 (Omakes) = 94 (Critical Success)

As it turns out, the shakeups in the IGBC leadership have made this very easy.

With Clovis' interference no longer an issue, you've managed to get the IGBC to more fully integrate themselves into the economy of the CNS through various loans, deals, and so on.

The point being is that now the CNS economy is strong enough that it can function on its own and no longer has to rely on external trade and investments. Which is good, because both the Republic and Separatists are effectively your enemies to an extent.

Reward: CNS economy now self-sustaining

[X] Plucking A Clovis: Rush Clovis has been styming your efforts to fully integrate the IGBC into the CNS, you know for a fact that he's one of Palpatine's stooges, and he's potentially sitting on considerable amounts of credits that Palpatine can use. This cannot stand. Send your teams to figure out how to remove him from the picture by any means necessary. Chance of Success: 60% Reward: Rush Clovis no longer a factor on Scipio, other potential benefits

Rolled: 83 + 15 (Bonuses) + 20 (Omakes) = 118 (Super Critical Success)

You had to hand it to Palpatine, he seemed to have had quite the plan for the IGBC. Shame that you foiled it.

Okay, so some context: Thanks to your new friends in the Bothan Spynet you were able to determine that Clovis had been heavily supporting the Separatists despite the official declaration of neutrality from the IGBC and had partnered with the Nemodian Senator Lott Dod to invest in a large droid factory on Cato Nemodia. Gulan quickly helped to expose this information and Clovis and Dod were promptly arrested for treason while they were on Coruscant.

It got interesting when Gulan recovered the information on the Core Five which indicated that they also had been tacitly supporting the Separatists, and that Clovis' blackmail was details on said support. You're not positive on the matter, but it seems like the plan may have been for you to focus entirely on dealing with Clovis, leaving the Core Five in charge and by extension giving Palpatine a hold over the CNS' economy.

With your information, the Core Five were swiftly arrested and temporary leadership of the IGBC has been passed over to the Plain family, who were already influential on the planet but far more willing to commit to neutrality. Which means that now you have all but guaranteed the IGBC's continued support for the CNS at this point.

Excellent.

Rewards: Rush Clovis and Core Five no longer factors in IGBC. IGBC loyalty to CNS assured. Scipio joins CNS, higher chance for IGBC planets to join CNS.

[X] The Codebreaker's Frying Pan: The good news from Genian is that Fry is finally over his bout of paranoia and is ready to go through with the final sale of his codebreaker. The bad news is that the Republic is still very interested in getting their hands on it and will move to ensure that they can get it for themselves, and there's a non-zero chance the CIS might find out enough to make a play of their own. All you have to do is figure out a way to get your hands on the codebreaker and make sure no one else figures out you acquired it in the process. Easy, right? Chance of Success: 50% Reward: Fry's codebreaker secured
-[X] The Silencer

Rolled: 33 + 15 (Bonuses) + 20 (Omakes) = 68 (Success)

Of course it wouldn't be that easy.

So as it turns out the Separatists just so happened to figure out where the sale was taking place (thanks, Palpatine) and launched an attack on the planet of Azure to secure the codebreaker. While the Republic forces managed to successfully stall them, the Separatist forces started to push closer to the device's location.

The Silencer managed to lead a strike team through the chaotic battle and just barely managed to recover the device and leave a decoy behind. As a result, the Republic ended up destroying the fake, ensuring that by all accounts the codebreaker no longer existed.

The codebreaker was...incredible. You tested it on the encryption used on the message between Dooku and Sev'rance back during the battle at Kamino, and it was able to crack it within a few moments. It was definitely worth acquiring it...and keeping it out of Palpatine's hands.

Rewards: Codebreaker recovered, increased chance of success for all Intrigue actions

[X] Archaeological Expeditions: There are very famous sites in the galaxy that are dying for someone to lead expeditions to...and potentially locate Force-related artifacts. Chance of Success: 70% (80% on planets with a *) Cost: 50 Reward: Expedition to chosen location launched
-[X] Inner Rim (Obora-Skai, Phateem): Two of the Wonders of the Galaxy, these worlds contain expansive databases that could contain valuable information.

Rolled: 71 + 5 (Bonus) + 20 (Omakes) = 96 (Critical Success)

Oh, this trip was definitely worth it.

As it turns out, your trip to Obora-Skai was slightly redundant once you learned that PR-1 had established a public connection to the Celebratus Archives (which explains a lot actually), but you also managed to "recover" far more information from the Archives which should definitely come in handy in the future.

Notably, it provided information on a planet that you had been meaning to investigate for a while now: Myrkr. Apparently the reason the Miraluka passing by the planet had noticed oddities with the planet was because of the local ysalamiri which were apparently able to repel the Force. That definitely is something worth looking into much more closely.

Accessing the Halls of Knowledge on Phateem proved to be equally fruitful; apparently the Jedi hadn't been very thorough in checking its records and you managed to discover information on many Force artifacts that have been scattered throughout the galaxy, to say nothing of the information you gained from the archives themselves.

Notably, there have been some records of artifacts on Dantooine that your men haven't found yet...

Rewards: Information on Myrkr gained from Celebratus Archives records, +5 Lore bonus from Hall of Knowledge records, expanded information on galaxy as a whole and locations of ancient Force sites

[X] A Brother's Lament: Talzin has contacted you, requesting your assistance in recovering someone of interest to her. She wanted an in-person meeting to give more details, but from what you understand the "target" is a Force-user that could be a potential asset to the both of you. Chance of Success: 50% Reward: Talzin's person of interest recovered
-[X] Asajj Ventress

Rolled: 20 + 24 (Bonuses) + 20 (Omakes) = 64 (Success)

"Asajj, are you ready to report?"

"The target I was sent to recover was Mother Talzin's son, one Maul."

"Okay, but what's his actual name?"

"...Maul."

"You've got to be...alright, continue."

"Mother Talzin had determined that he was alive and on the planet Lotho Minor, and sent me there alongside his brother Savage with a talisman that could help me track him down."

"Savage, are you kidding me...wait, do you know how that talisman works? That sounds like a useful tool."

"Unfortunately, no. At any rate I arrived on the planet and was guided to his location by one of the local Anacondans, and..."

"...What state was he in?"

"He had gone mad. Apparently he had lost his legs at some point, and they had been replaced with a mechanical spider-like body. It seemed to cause him immense pain."

"Did you have to fight him?"

"No. He was willing to follow Savage, and he's been returned to Talzin's care. From what I've been told she is currently healing him in both body and mind."

"Is that possible?"

"Apparently so."

"...Asajj. Is there something else?"

"...In his ravings, he told me who had cut off his legs and left him to die.

...It was Obi-Wan Kenobi."

"...Dammit all...And let me guess, he wants revenge?"

"Without doubt, and I would expect he is willing to include the Jedi in that revenge. I could sense the immense hatred in him, and I am certain that it is the only thing that has kept him alive. It was almost like..."

"Like...?"

"On Malachor I fought against a being during my trial that was able to ignore his wounds despite receiving strikes from lightsabers, and looking back at that it would seem that Maul has managed to do something similar."

"...I think I know who you're talking about. He was Sion, correct?"

"...Yes. You've heard of him?"

"Right now I wish I hadn't. The man managed to keep himself alive through sheer hatred, at the cost of being in perpetual agony. If Maul is anything like him..."

"I understand. I'll give a more thorough report on my mission when I get back. Out."

"...Damn you Talzin, this is your plan!? Sending a crazed Sith hungry for revenge out into the galaxy at a time like this!?

...

Gulan, increase our observation of the Dathomir system immediately. No one enters or leaves without me knowing, understood?"

Reward: Maul recovered

[X] Clone Resources: Skirata has requested that should you have the time and resources that you send a few doctors to help care for the clone deserters and help research their rapid aging in the hopes of finding a cure. In addition, said staff would also work on using the nano-droids to help destroy the chips embedded in the deserters. Chance of Success: 70% Cost: 100 Reward: Medical staff for clone deserters recruited, field-testing of nano-droids commenced

Rolled: 43 + 25 (Bonuses) + 20 (Omakes) = 88 (Success)

Skirata certainly appreciated having a more robust research team especially now that his men have managed to track down and "recover" Ko Sai. More importantly the nano-droids have proven to be quite successful in their task; reports from the teams affiliated with the project indicate that the chips are quickly disassembled without any noticeable side effects. So that's good news.

Reward: Medical teams sent to assist Clan Skirata, nano-droid tests confirmed successful

[X] HK-47 Analysis: It's insane just how effective an assassin droid HK-47 is despite the facts that he is over four millennia old and hasn't been properly repaired since then. Letting your researchers study him in-depth could result in significant boosts to your engineering department. Chance of Success: 60% Cost: 50 Reward: HK-47's design studied, potential for droid upgrades

Rolled: 94 + 15 (Bonuses) + 20 (Omakes) = 129 (Super Critical Success)

This went well...especially after the things that happened with repairing him... (To be continued in Deus Ex Machina)

[X] Personal attention/Increased Focus: Sometimes you just have to either keep an eye on your minions to ensure that they don't screw up or prepare more intensively for something that you need to handle personally. Chance of Success: 100%. Reward: Your stats + Force Sight bonus added to a action of your choice

...Well then.

[X] Ciaran's Conundrums: Looking at the whole Palpatine situation one important detail is clear to you: odds are that Anakin Skywalker is going to be right at the heart of it. While you've talked with him at length on a number of occasions about his status as a Jedi he's still been vacillating on the matter quite a bit and hasn't really committed to any major decisions on the matter. You can't afford to have someone as powerful as him be a wild card; set aside some time to thoroughly speak with him about it and see if you can convince him to do something. Chance of Success: ??? Reward: ???
-[X] Silas Cata
-[X] Personal Attention
-[X] 4 Watchers

Rolled: 95 + 55 (Bonuses) + 20 (Omakes) = 170 (Insane Critical Success)

...You're not exactly looking forward to this after the time you told Anakin about Vectivus...but you have to do this. Far too much is at stake. (To be continued in Legacies Of The Force)

[X] Cheriss Sair: The Art Of Droid Design: While you can see the obvious reasons for wanting to examine HK-47 from an engineering standpoint, Cheriss is convinced that given the chance to study him-or at least schematics of him-could dramatically expand her knowledge of droid design in general-all she needs is the time to study it. (Uses Learning Bonuses, Cheriss Sair must be assigned to this action if chosen) Chance of Success: 60% Reward: Cheriss expands her knowledge of droid design, ???

Rolled: 54 + 35 (Bonuses) + 20 (Omakes) = 109 (Over 100 Success)

Ooookay...Cheriss might have gotten a bit carried away with looking over HK-47... (To be continued in Deus Ex Machina)

[X] HK-47: Returning To Form: Much to his consternation, the four millennia that HK-47 has spent deactivated has caused significant wear and tear on his body. He's made it very clear (by threatening some engineers on occasion) that he would like a tune-up ASAP so he can return to his past glory. (Uses Learning Bonuses, HK-47 must be assigned to this action if chosen) Chance of Success: 70% Cost: 100 Reward: HK-47 returned to full functionality, ???

Rolled: 75 + 31 (Bonuses) + 20 (Omakes) = 126 (Super Critical Success)

Note to self: to Cheriss, the word "fix" means "repair it and make it even better than it was before." (To be continued in Deus Ex Machina)

4 Watcher Teams died to bring you this update...somehow.

AN: Holy shit so much happened this turn what in the fuck.

So I'm going to have the base write-ups be after the interludes and whatnot because there's only so much I can write and I kind of want to get on with the main events. Also because this alone is already over 5k words.

Also I'm taking a bit of a breather, so don't expect front page updates for a bit.

Enjoy~

Glorious! Two interludes, nice that several of the crit rolls could be combined into one for HK-47 and Cheris.

So we gained +1 Hero Action and gained a Hero in Jango
Three different bonues to actions (Lore, Intrigue and Learning)
CNS is stable and has intel branch and an internal economy
Oh and both the Wookies and IGBC have good shots at joining
Munnilist and Kalee- income increased by 50%
And the nano droids work for removing the chip, even better news there

And that is just some of it, plus once again the two interviews

Hmm, for some reason during the upgrades I had a thought that Ciaran could install a comedic voice pack that would override HK-47 speech patterns. I can imagine it now with Ciaran turning it on one of his assassinations missions and forcing him to speak in a certain way for the entirety of the mission.

So that Munnilist and Kalee increase.
Currently
Munnilist: 150 base income
new upgrades adding 100 base income
Kalee: 50 base income
Total: 300
So all told that is increasing our income by 150 over what was planned. More money is always good!

Edit:
Oh and one base upgrade we did not take on Munnilist-
Invest in Phlut Design Systems, it cost 100 for +25 income and access to more droid specs. Between the +30% we already had and the +50% we gained it now gives an income of +45, just below the 2 turn payout we were looking for this past turn but with the bonus of access to more droids it would be worth it next turn.

Also with Kalee getting economic development there may be some possible base upgrades that generate income becoming available.

Hmm, for some reason during the upgrades I had a thought that Ciaran could install a comedic voice pack that would override HK-47 speech patterns. I can imagine it now with Ciaran turning it on one of his assassinations missions and forcing him to speak in a certain way for the entirety of the mission.
Maybe Ciaran installed a recently found hidden sith voice module that translates droid speech into vogon poetry? :p

4 Watcher Teams died to bring you this update...somehow.
I like to imagine that it's not a 40% mortality rate, but a 40% deactivation rate. Yes, sometimes that means it's because they die, but it also represents those watchers not being of any use any more (because the missions they'd have been useful in have been completed) or that they've retired or were too injured to continue working. A 40% mortality rate is severe for front line combat, much less for janitors passing on what rumours they heard.

So who thinks that Anakin will see what we have been doing with droids and say, "I think you are long overdue for a few modification R2."?

Later on, R2 completely denies having anything to do with a mysteriously killed Rancor.

Perhaps they had to fake their own deaths and Ciaran isn't able to call upon them anymore.

...So you want HK to kill Ciaran and destroy everything she has built?

That is horrifying. Your mind disturbs me.

Ideas for how the Anakin meeting

"What is it this time Ciaran?" Anakin said tapping his foot his eyes full of suspicion. "I'm told by your uncle that this is a 'critical matter' concerning the Force."

"It is and for the first time in our relationship as associates your going to see my serious face." I rise from my desk and hit a button under my desk doing so. The room's lights turn off and than turn back with a red glow. Behind Anakin the floor moves and a hologram projector rises from the floor.

"Life isn't simple anymore Anakin. Whatever you knew..well just be ready to be told some outrageously true things."

The Jedi Knight looks back with shock. Even though nothing has been said before I can see it in his eyes. He knows for the first time in my life I am going to be truthful with him about everything I know. I can feel anticipation but also fear of what is to come. I wonder if the boy will soil himself after I tell him about who's had a certain romantic interest in his cross-hairs. Which reminds me!

I think we'll start with a picture of Anakin and Padme in a romantic stare down before we start with how I found out about the Sith conspiracy for galactic dominance. It's good to lighten the mood right? Of course i'm right. I OWN THAT WORD!

so, ummm, Deus Ex Machina is 1 over 100 critical, and 2 super criticals, all around upgrading or studying HK-47. so, uh, in a few decades, when all organic life is either dead or enslaved, lets not let people know it was probably our fault.

...mwahahahaHAHAHA.
Rewards: Anti-Trandoshan patrols highly successful, Claatuvac Guild negotiation action becomes free next turn, increased chance of Kashyyyk joining CNS
We met Chewie! And he likes us! And is willing to help us gain a whole bunch of secret hyperlane routes!

Rewards: Arkanian Legacy recovered with minimal casualties and repairs initiated at no cost. +5 Learning Bonus from recovered data, Grievous gains "Exogorth Hunter" trait
New supership base, free repairs, +5 Learning default bonus, and a trait?! Holy nerfherders I love this turn!

Reward: Jango Fett formally recruited, Jango starts with "Partner In Crime: Zam Wesell" trait
...Okay that's pretty cool. We get Zam Wesell! I wonder if we could have Oki 'Cata' train with her to develop her Clawdite talents and become an infilitration expert?

[X] Recovering The Chu'unthor (Diplomatic Option):
It took considerable time and effort on his part, but Thrawn managed to negotiate for access and retrieval of the ship itself. He later noted that unless you launched an all-out assault on the clan it would likely be impossible to recover the contents of the library and even then the odds were that said information would be destroyed in the process. Truly a pity, but in this case the ship itself is far more valuable to you.

Rewards: Chu'unthor access gained
Pity to leave the Chu'unthor library behind, but then that is a nearly complete copy of the Jedi Archive c. 400 BBY, so that might be a bit game-breaking on top of everything else we're getting (namely, the supership in all its mobile Force research/training glory!) Plus, we'll probably be visiting Ossus at some point, which has the original Jedi Great Library, so it's not that much of a loss.

Incidentally, I'm assuming "access" also means "retrieval," and that we'll be able to repair it next turn as a base upgrade? Probably expensive, since we didn't get an Arkanian Legacy-type roll with free repairs, but it does seem like we'll be treating it as a base.

I'm sorely tempted to do my best 'evil laugh' here...

"Indeed. The only thing the CNS truly lacks is internal economic stability and it would be functionally independent from either the Republic or Separatists. Given the right propaganda one could easily make them seem like traitors to both sides."

"We can handle that if someone tries it, and we're working on the economic part."
Good point on the propaganda point -- now we know how Palpatine's next line of attack on us & the CNS, so we should figure out a response.

Rewards: Bothawui and many surrounding systems join CNS formally, Bothan Spynet unofficially favors CNS/Abyss Watchers. Intrigue action regained due to Spynet assistance.
...We get an extra Intrigue Action too?! BEST TURN EVER!

Reward: Custom Star Couriers produced, +1 Hero Action
I would really like to see an omake of Ciaran et al. touring the various couriers and seeing how each member of her Abyss Council customized their ships. If only for the small details of how Silas customized his to also serve as a love shack/barracks for his various 'conquests' and progeny, or exactly what HK-47 did to turn his ship into a spinning ball of death and destruction....

It's perverse -- given just how many crits we rolled this turn -- but I admit I'm even a bit disappointed we didn't roll a crit on this action so Silas could get his courier by stealing one of Palpatine's yachts. That omake was truly perfect.

This is why we love this quest. Somehow you turned a moment of "all the money!" into a moment of genuine nostalgia for a soon-to-be-bygone era.

Rewards: Munnilist and surrounding space highly stabilized by influx of Kaleesh warriors. Kalee begins rapidly modernizing. Income from both planets increases by 50%. Kaleesh Warrior cap lifted.
To be fair, this is also why we love this quest. All the money!

[X] Bank of Ciaran:
Rolled: 64 + 10 (Bonuses) + 20 (Omakes) = 94 (Critical Success)

The point being is that now the CNS economy is strong enough that it can function on its own and no longer has to rely on external trade and investments. Which is good, because both the Republic and Separatists are effectively your enemies to an extent.

Reward: CNS economy now self-sustaining
...Considering the amazing rewards we received for the rest of this turn, I'm kinda curious about how... understated?... this one seems to be. Considering "no long has to rely on external trade", I'm inclined to say that this protects us from Palpatine's planned embargo. On the other hand, it is a critical success, so it seems like it should be more akin to a nigh-total immunity to embargo attempts. Or, considering we're coordinating with the IGBC, would this open up base upgrades to invest in IGBC expansion banks in various planets we control, such as Taris and Ord Mantell?

As for Clovis:
Okay, so some context: Thanks to your new friends in the Bothan Spynet you were able to determine that Clovis had been heavily supporting the Separatists despite the official declaration of neutrality from the IGBC and had partnered with the Nemodian Senator Lott Dod to invest in a large droid factory on Cato Nemodia. Gulan quickly helped to expose this information and Clovis and Dod were promptly arrested for treason while they were on Coruscant.
Huh, so it was Cato Nemoidia, which means Clovis' original disgrace didn't take place 2 years ago but just occurred now. Good to hear he got arrested for his trouble, without involving a threat to Padme!

It got interesting when Gulan recovered the information on the Core Five which indicated that they also had been tacitly supporting the Separatists, and that Clovis' blackmail was details on said support. ... With your information, the Core Five were swiftly arrested and temporary leadership of the IGBC has been passed over to the Plain family, who were already influential on the planet but far more willing to commit to neutrality. Which means that now you have all but guaranteed the IGBC's continued support for the CNS at this point.
Even better! It's good to see that San Hill and his cronies are now firmly out on their keisters, which means Hego Damask's last strands of influence and control of IGBC have been firmly eliminated!

Speaking of Damask, though, did anything come of this from last turn?
[X] The Enigma Of Scipio:
...
Not to mention that because of all this, now you have a decent idea of where Hego Damask's fortune may have vanished to...
Or will that require the separate action to follow up? Will this turn's super-critical success give us improved chance of success on that?

[X] The Codebreaker's Frying Pan:

Of course it wouldn't be that easy.

So as it turns out the Separatists just so happened to figure out where the sale was taking place (thanks, Palpatine) and launched an attack on the planet of Azure to secure the codebreaker. While the Republic forces managed to successfully stall them, the Separatist forces started to push closer to the device's location.

The Silencer managed to lead a strike team through the chaotic battle and just barely managed to recover the device and leave a decoy behind. As a result, the Republic ended up destroying the fake, ensuring that by all accounts the codebreaker no longer existed.
I'm assuming that the lack of any direct reference means that Siri Tachi survived? (Please please please...)

Excellent! Considering it took an entire action (3 months) to decipher that encryption, this is a stunning improvement in our intelligence gathering, which means we'll be able to anticipate enemy efforts from both Palpatine and Dooku.

...I'm also crossing my fingers in hope that the lack of any direct reference to Talesan Fry means we still have an option of pursuing further work with him, to recruit him for the CNS or for the Abyss Watchers directly...?

As it turns out, your trip to Obora-Skai was slightly redundant once you learned that PR-1 had established a public connection to the Celebratus Archives (which explains a lot actually)...
<blushes>

but you also managed to "recover" far more information from the Archives which should definitely come in handy in the future.

Excellent! Our 'Learning' bottleneck just got a bit easier to handle, now that it takes one fewer action before we can start dealing directly with ysalamiri.

Notably, there have been some records of artifacts on Dantooine that your men haven't found yet...
Again, the temptation to <insert evil laugh> is really getting to me. Remember that the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine has multiple sublevels that were abandoned and have never been explored. One of those sublevels was discovered in canon by Zeta Magnus, a CIS mad scientist who discovered an Old Republic cloning facility and proceeded to use it for mad science. Now we may be in a position to discover and use that. Another ridiculous find is the Codex of Tython, a super-holocron with reams of data on Old Republic tech. In canon it was discovered by Rebel agents during the original-trilogy era, but now we can get a head start on that.

Rewards: Information on Myrkr gained from Celebratus Archives records, +5 Lore bonus from Hall of Knowledge records, expanded information on galaxy as a whole and locations of ancient Force sites
And that Lore bonus will be immensely useful as well, especially combined with our new Chu'unthor!

[X] A Brother's Lament:
Reward: Maul recovered
...Yup. That's ominous. A 'success', and the only reward is that a hate-crazed Sith Apprentice is now active in the galaxy. To be fair, this seems like precisely the right call for Dr. Snark -- Maul is not in a healthy place, so unless we scored some ridiculous crit, the reward should be "you're aware of the major disruptive influence that's now active in the galaxy." Between our own surveillance and the Bothans, I hope we're able to keep our eye on Maul's scheming. And with Asajj's help, hopefully we'll be able to help him out.

[X] HK-47 Analysis:
Rolled: 94 + 15 (Bonuses) + 20 (Omakes) = 129 (Super Critical Success)
This went well...especially after the things that happened with repairing him... (To be continued in Deus Ex Machina)
[X] Cheriss Sair: The Art Of Droid Design:
Rolled: 54 + 35 (Bonuses) + 20 (Omakes) = 109 (Over 100 Success)
Ooookay...Cheriss might have gotten a bit carried away with looking over HK-47... (To be continued in Deus Ex Machina)
[X] HK-47: Returning To Form:
Rolled: 75 + 31 (Bonuses) + 20 (Omakes) = 126 (Super Critical Success)
Note to self: to Cheriss, the word "fix" means "repair it and make it even better than it was before." (To be continued in Deus Ex Machina)
...I am so looking forward to this omake. Almost as much as I'm looking forward to this next one...
[X] Ciaran's Conundrums:
Rolled: 95 + 55 (Bonuses) + 20 (Omakes) = 170 (Insane Critical Success)
...You're not exactly looking forward to this after the time you told Anakin about Vectivus...but you have to do this. Far too much is at stake. (To be continued in Legacies Of The Force)
Every time I look at that roll result, I can't help but smile. :D
