More dice statistics!
Also worth noting, for the sake of our balance sheet:
* Unknown loot from 'End to a Nightmare'; unknown loot from Coruscant salvage
We rolled a minor crit (is that a thing? result > 90) for 'Nightmare', which should help.
An End To The Nightmare: 70% Rolled 60 + 13 + 20 = 93
Incidentally, @Dr. Snark, what is our salvage roll this turn?
*** Unknown income from 'Senatorial Protection'; possible income from 'Muunilist Reconstruction' and/or 'Taris Refugee'
Meanwhile, for income, we got a Over 100 Success for 'Senatorial Protection', a simple success for Muunilist, and a Super Critical Success for the Taris Refugee Initiative.
Senatorial Protection Detail: 70% Rolled 83 + 5 + 20 = 108
Muunilist Reconstruction Efforts: 60% Rolled 44 + 10 + 20 = 74
Taris Refugee Initiative: 70% Rolled 93 + 10 + 20 = 123
So our income at least should look a bit more stable than before... :D

Alright so our Senate Protection Detail is widely used across the entire Senate. We've defeated more than a few attempts and have a great stream of info coming in directly from the Senate's offices. Bonus income for Information Brokering.

And Wesker be dead. Like so dead.

The Mandalorians are the most peaceful group of super soldiers ever. And they are going to prove it by raining peace and prosperity across the galaxy. Numerous fronts closed. CNS numbers swell with people who are done with the war.

Muunilist starts getting back on its feet, but nobody cares because Taris is the place to be. There are more refugees on Taris than natives and we've basically flipped the table regarding the entire political socioeconomic status quo there. And they're happy about it because it's for the better.

Also, we bugged Dooku's office, and found this ancient killer robot.

We opened the mystery box. The mystery box rewarded us with not becoming crazy and tainted by the dark side. We probably helped reform Asajj some more. Got some big Lore boost. Came back with some existential epiphanies. Aaaaand probably got some nice useful baubles out of the deal. Speaking of getting stat boosts and not becoming tainted by the dark side: The Silencer.

Then, finally, Silas Cata goes and recovers his granddaugther and canonizes a whole slew of omakes.

10/10 would roll these dice again.

That peacemaker roll. Was Ciaran playing Undertale and decided to go the Frisk route? That is the most logical reason I can think of how this could work.

when carian isn't being a little shit she can be a legitimately saintly person.
however, her only grownup figure was silas. who is literally space genghis khan, with how much sexing and being a horrible trolling scoundrel rubbed off on her. it's to much fun to be a troll, most of the time, this was not one of those times.

Incidentally, @Dr. Snark, what is our salvage roll this turn?

Your luck ran out and it was a 7. Nothing special.

As for the odds...to be honest I put the question marks there to add drama but all things considered it was probably around the 30-40% range. You were right to put bonuses on that, at any rate.

Are you the Tsun of your Dice?

Don't tempt me man. Once I start making Fate references I will never ever stop. (But uh, probably all things considered)

Before you guys ask, no that roll for Peacemaker does not mean you've ended the war diplomatically, but...FUCK.
War weariness, and IIRC Palpatine plotting to try to pull the CNS into the conflict by changing the axis?

Well everyone may be confused. But this could be explain by having a lot of people tired of the war. Politicians on both sides did not see that many did not actually see the other side as enemies and want peace?

It's also partly how it remained a stalemate for unusually long with limited damage on all sides. No losses or atrocities to remember, just the steadily rising bill...while the CNS makes mad bank trading to all sides.

Maybe limit the Omake bonus to 100 to make your life a little easier. People will still write a ton because this is a fun story and quality omakes make people laugh.

Teasing the Galaxy fills you with DETERMINATION.

Frankly, I wouldn't be at all surprised if this turn's results are why next turn gets real. We just took a gigantic public counterattack against Sidious. We at have brought a galactic war in the works for decades, at minimum, to a screeching halt. We took a mini Coruscant and turned it into our own private world populated by people whose entire lives they owe to us. We resurrected the Mandalore whose just declared peace!

If we aren't on Palpatine's "Remove Immediately" list now, I'll be VERY surprised.

Pfffft, where's the fun in that!?

Omakes make his life easier. They inspire ideas.

Damn straight! In all seriousness now that I've recovered from the rolls my mind is ablaze with ideas for the big interludes for the next turn. And to be honest I'm super super happy that you guys went for Malachor and got a crit because I've had some really cool ideas for what I want to do with it. Trust me!

Also, to be fair to our rolls, only 'Senatorial Protection' and 'Taris' crits were even close to unlikely, and both of those had ~30% chances of crits. We loaded up the bonuses, so that, for instance, the results of our tracking Dooku had a 54% chance of being >100 ('Hell Hath No Fury' had a 59% chance of the same). Mostly thanks to all the omakes, we had very very good odds of many things going our way this turn.

Senatorial Protection Detail: 70% Rolled 83 + 5 + 20 = 108
'Senatorial Security Solutions' was incorporated a few days after successfully protecting Bail Organa. Thanks to the intricacies of Coruscanti bureaucracy, no one had any idea that the company was actually related to Lady Ciaran of the Abyss Watchers. 'SSS' is promptly hired to provide protection for about half the Senate, including the office of Vice Chancellor Mas Amedda...
An End To The Nightmare: 70% Rolled 60 + 13 + 20 = 93
Wesker deals in bioweapons. He failed to account for Shard biology.
Peacemaker (CNS): 60% Rolled 93 + 19 + 20 = 132
...It turns out, it wasn't hard to defuse the galaxy's fears of a revived Mandalorian Empire. All it took was an botched assassination attempt on an unarmored Jango Fett. Well, a botched assassination attempt, a Caamasi invitation to use their Serenity Summit complex for the peace treaty signing, a very through protocol briefing beforehand to not use weapons, Jango's own nigh-precognitive reflexes, and the pacifist Caamasi tendency to overcome adversity through hugs. When the entire galaxy sees holovid footage of an unarmored Jango Fett staring down a three-meter-tall bounty hunter bristling with weapons, dodging blaster bolts and swipes of a vibroblade with ease, somehow forcing the assassin into a bloodless submission hold that the Caamasi mistook as hugging, only for Fett and the assassin to be dogpiled in a massive Caamasi cuddle pile... at which point Thrawn realized the potential and turned it into the galactic equivalent of an /r/aww post becoming the #1 'Top' all time post on Reddit. Memes everywhere. Except among certain factions on Mandalore, where the focus in the news coverage is on Mandalore the Resurgent defeating a 10-foot-tall beast in hand-to-hand combat.
CNS Integration Bureau: 60% Rolled 12 + 10 + 20 = 42
...Paperwork is tough.
The New Mandalore (CNS): 50% Rolled 88 + 26 + 20 = 134
Thrawn was already the galaxy's best military tactician. What havoc will he wreck now that he's also among the galaxy's best viral advertisers and 'Mad Men'?
Muunilist Reconstruction Efforts: 60% Rolled 44 + 10 + 20 = 74
They don't yet consider us a god, but the Muun are certainly inclined to see us as belonging somewhere on the celestial org chart...
Taris Refugee Initiative: 70% Rolled 93 + 10 + 20 = 123
Once upon a time, some idiot nobleman though he'd eaten the last specimen of Tarisian kelp. He hadn't. And now, with over three thousand five hundred years of unchecked growth, it turns out the oceans of Taris are teeming with high-quality ingredients for sushi. Not only is Taris officially open for business (with more city-sized 'blocs' being cleared and sold to refugees), but we're also able to farm and sell the Tarisian kelp to starving communities across the entire galaxy. If it came down to it, we could probably feed Coruscant singlehandedly, is all we're saying.
The Count of Sereno: 40% Rolled 50 + 34 + 20 = 104
Remember that time Ciaran snuck into Dooku's office and stole a painting, replacing it with a replica? Yeah, she did it again. Only this time the replica had a miniaturized sensor & com suite to record and relay everything that Dooku did, saw, and said.

Also, Grievous expressed a newfound enjoyment in 'hunting' people, and has asked to be assigned to more such missions in the future. No acklay could possibly be as wary or resourceful as a Dark Lord of the Sith in his inner sanctum.

(In related news, Grievous has been to Dooku's inner sanctum. 'Too much sick-green', he said).
Explosions From The Past 60% Rolled 35 + 15 + 20 = 70
Also in related news, HK-47 is very impressed by your organization. He gets along particularly well with Grievous. He hasn't met The Silencer yet, but everyone is very worried.
Form "Discovery Corps:" 70% Rolled 10 + 5 + 20 = 35
Forming a 'Discovery Corp' took longer than you thought. Mostly because Ciaran was gone and visiting Malachor when the recruitment effort started. Things resolved themselves once she returned.
Force-Friendly Cybernetics: 70% Rolled 53 + 15 + 20 = 88
It might take another three months, but yes, your researchers are quite confident they'll have the new model ready once Cheriss returns from the Wesker mission.
Journey to Malachor: ??? Rolled 30 + 70 + 20 = 120
Ciaran stares into the Abyss. The abyss blinks. Darth Traya begins to question herself.
Silas Cata: Hell Hath No Fury: 70% Rolled 82 + 34 + 20 = 134
Silas recovers his granddaughter. For free. And somehow the Hutt slaver who'd held her is happy about this?
The Silencer: Legacy of the Sun: 70% Rolled 52 + 28 + 20 = 100
The Sun Guard was a Sith cult mercenary group. Emphasis on the 'was'. Now they're a 'cult of Ciaran' mercenary group. You're not quite sure how The Silencer did it.

(Omake) All About Image (Canon)
It's happening again, isn't it?
Well if you insist...

All About Image

"Are you sure the Abyss Watchers aren't related to the Sith?" asked Ahsoka. "Pawn to D-5"

"Oh, what's prompted this line of questioning? Do you think I'm secretly a Sith Lord?" said Thrawn as he confidently moved his own piece. "Pawn to H-3."

"Not you specifically. It's just that the Abyss Watcher's emblem seems a bit… Sith-y. Bishop to H-3. You should pay more attention Thrawn." Boasted Ahsoka as she removed Thrawn's pawn from the board.

"And you should take after your Master a bit less. Aggression isn't always the best strategy. Pawn to H-3. I'll be taking your bishop." said Thrawn calmly as his trap worked to perfection. It was good for him to play someone as tactically inexperienced as Ahsoka. Grievous had told him before that his plans were sometimes too complicated for his own good. "As to your allegations, I can honestly say that no living Sith Lord is in anyway affiliated with the Abyss Watchers. And the insignia serves a very important purpose."

"To look creepy? What does a black and red Tessek with too many face tentacles do for the Abyss Watchers?" asked Ahsoka, choosing to deal with the loss of her bishop by ignoring the game entirely for a bit.

Thrawn sighed heavily. While Ahsoka was decent conversation, the real reason he extended an open invitation was the simple joy of having an opponent who thought of more strategies than a droid could, even if they weren't always good strategies. "It's not a Tessek first of all. In truth I have no clue what exactly the image depicts. But black and red are strong colors. Red is fire, blood, passion, leadership, courage, strength, and similar themes, at least in the hues utilized. Black on the other hand is more ominous than red, creating fear of pending violence as opposed ongoing or concluded violence. It often symbolizes fear, strength, authority, etcetera. The two colors used also contrast sharply, amplifying the native effects of the colors. These meanings are of course not universal, but the number of cultures with similar sentiments attached to colors is intriguing to say the least."

Thrawn noticed Ahsoka's eyes glazing over, but he couldn't really bring himself to interrupt his spiel to berate her. "But I digress. The actual entity depicted on the insignia is rife with meaning as well. The Abyss Watchers may function as a general mercenary force for Lady Ciaran, and by extension the CNS as a whole, but originally Lady Ciaran made her fame as an information broker. The tentacles are likely a nostalgic reminder of her roots, reaching into everything to extract information, synergizing with the eye. A large number of sentient species that have some form of tentacled predator in their history."

"Remind me to not bring up art next time." muttered Ahsoka.

"Do you truly not see the meaning inherent in this? I wasn't kidding when I said my passion for art is instrumental in my successes as a strategist." chastised Thrawn. His disappointed tone actually seemed to draw Ahsoka back into the conversation.

"What do you mean by that? How does art help you win battles? I'm not doubting you, I'm just curious at this point." said Ahsoka, quick to defend herself.

"I'm sure you're aware of the adage that heralds knowling your enemy as the key to victory? A person's cultural history informs every action they make, and art is a window into that culture. Relics left by generations past to teach us how they thought, and the ideals they passed down to the present." Thrawn noticed that Ahsoka was still struggling to understand the concepts, and so decided that some hypothetical situations might be in order. "Take the people of Kaleesh. They're certainly fierce warriors, an knowing even the general approach they might take into battle would obviously inform your strategy. If you know they will play tricks and set traps, you'd proceed with caution. If you know they will charge recklessly, you'd set traps of your own. If they would cower behind fortifications, you'd settle in for a siege."

"I get all that, but how does art tell you how they'll attack? It doesn't seem like it would have much practical use." complained Ahsoka.

"You'd surely sing a different tune after looking at some Kaleesh artwork. Carvings at their holy sites depict glorious battle, great warriors featuring prominently with their foes fleeing before them. It's easy to see that theirs is a culture that sees battle as a chance at glory. If I were to face them in battle, I would attempt to draw them into a situation advantageous to my side by exploiting that. Drawing them out of favorable terrain by feigning a rout for example. Their culture would push them into pursuit to claim further glory from a cowardly foe. All according to a plan devised from some carvings."

"Whoa. I think I see what you meant." said Ahsoka, appropriately awed.

"I'm glad some of this is getting through to you. We'll make a proper art aficionado out of you yet Ms. Tano." chuckled Thrawn.

"How does that work with the Abyss Walkers though? They're a mercenary group that's only a few years old. They've hardly had time to develop a culture." said Ahsoka, now thoroughly engrossed in the conversation.

"Much simpler really. The emblem is worn into battle, where it can directly affect morale. The symbol of power inspires our men to perform better in the field, while demoralizing our foes by subtly convincing them that they stand no chance. I'm led intimidating than a red and black Tessek with too many tentacles." joked Thrawn, drawing a chuckle out of his opponent.

Just then, Thrawn's communicator rang, and he set it down on the table. The hologram wasn't Lady Ciaran, but a Tortuga woman Ahsoka had never met. "Ah, Cheriss. To what do I owe the pleasure?"

The woman, apparently named Cheriss responded nervously. "Ah, it's about the upcoming operation with Wesker. Lady Ciaran placed me in charge."

Thrawn nodded slowly. "Yes, thinking of it like that, I can see how your biology could offer certain advantages. I'm most disappointed that I won't be able to see some of my more sadistic plans in action for all the headaches he's put us through. I was looking forward to seeing him squirm."

"That's just it. I was wondering if you'd go over some of the strategies with me before the operation. I'm no strategist, and even if I was, you'd be a better one." said Cheriss.

"It would be my pleasure. I'll meet you outside your lab shortly." Hanging up, Thrawn turned to Ahsoka. "My apologies, but business calls. If you'd like something to work on, you were thirty-seven moves from checkmate with my current strategy. Less if you made any suboptimal moves." Thrawn left then, leaving Ahsoka to stare at the chessboard in frustration.

AN: In which Thrawn explains why out symbol totally isn't evil and gives Cheriss some pointers for her upcoming raid on Wesker. Tips which she apparently executes flawlessly. And hey! Ahsoka is getting less bad at chess! Everybody wins! Except Wesker, because fuck Wesker.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUCK.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.
FUCK.

For the record, I was expecting a crit of some flavor with Malachor but...FUCK.

Before you guys ask, no that roll for Peacemaker does not mean you've ended the war diplomatically, but...FUCK.

I uh...this turn might take a while. I just don't know. What the fuck was with those dice...
About the peacemaker, you could work in a ceasefire, maybe? A temporary one for humanitarian reasons, it's done all the time IRL, and it would work really well with some systems deciding to up and leave the war for the CNS, and Ciaran's humanitarian war effort.

Remember that time Ciaran snuck into Dooku's office and stole a painting, replacing it with a replica? Yeah, she did it again. Only this time the replica had a miniaturized sensor & com suite to record and relay everything that Dooku did, saw, and said.
We did better than that. We stole Dooku's light saber and replaced it with a buged replica.

Edit: Also we have recording of all his conversations with Darth Sidedus and if we ever want to give him instructions ourselves all we need to do is put on a dark cloak and make a call.

Ahsoka is going to end up interesting(scary) in this timeline. Beside the craziness that comes with being the padawan of a Skywalker, she is also pretty much getting mentored by Ciaran and Thrawn of all people if we go by all the canon omakes.

More dice statistics!
  • Our highest roll was 93 for both 'Peacemaker' and 'Taris Refugees' -- 2 of 14 rolls > 90%
  • Our lowest roll was 10 for 'Discovery Corp' (no reroll needed...)
  • Our median roll this turn was 52.5
  • Our dice average this turn was 56.1 (sum of all rolls is 785, divide by 14)
So yeah. This turn's string of critical successes wasn't on the dice -- it was entirely about those omakes (and on our distribution of Hero support). Frankly, if this had been closer to our Teron dice average, we'd probably have another two critical successes, and most of our current ones would be bumped up another tier, to "super critical" or "overwhelming critical" success.
Here are the previous turns in this thread, as rolled by Dr. Snark
  • Turn 22: dice average was 50.1 (highest roll was 98, lowest roll was 7. 2 of 14 rolls > 90%)

@Dr. Snark... good luck writing all this up. As much as I'm looking forward to the Wesker mini-arc, I'm kinda anticipating the results of those two hero actions even more.

Also, just out of curiosity:

What were the mystery odds on this one?
A graph of this would make the info even clearer.
