Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

And now the vote is called.
A Head in the Clouds
Right before I called the vote. You are lucky I had to take a few minutes to care for my cat.

Here are the Rewards:
[]Hi Everybody it's Mark Hamill (If Mark does not get a role in Star Wars, he will get a roll bonus finding another one.)
[]Who the Hell Talks Like this? (Increase the Script Quality of Star Wars... Significantly.)
[]So... We've Got Our Luke? (+20 to all actor rolls, with an additional +10 to Mark if he is among the winning Plan)
Adhoc vote count started by Kaiser Chris on Mar 26, 2023 at 10:30 PM, finished with 59 posts and 31 votes.

Here are the Rolls:

-[]Ron Howard: D100 => 90+20=110
-[]Pierce Brosnan: D100 => 21 +20=41
-[]Mark Hamill: D100 => 95+30=125
-[]Carrie Fisher: D100 => 95+30=125
-[]Linda Carter: D100 => 77+20=97
-[]Karen Allen: D100 => 86+20=106

So it seems the Dice want the Cast to be Canon... For now at least.

Well we have the next turn to make something else work for other cast members.

Fucking Amazing that we got both Mark and Carrie on the natural rolls and they both got Nat 95s, truly a sign that the Skywalker Twins were meant to be. Man, everyone really put up a good fight and it seems like Karen is going to locked in for Indiana Jones and Ron and Linda will probably have first preference to other Lucasfilms properties. Ron as Bobby or James in Kung Fu Kid anyone? Big OOF for Brosnan though, guess he didn't care, didn't meld with the script or was just too nervous. At least he has James Bond and Ron and Linda got Happy Days and Wonder Woman. All's well that ends well.

Ok, wov, the dice are strong in this one.
Except for the poor Brosnan.

We need to find roles for all a' these fine folks.
Hm...
Linda or Karen as Winter?

OMG, Epiphany!
Linda as the Hand of the Emperor.
We do not name her, we just make her a deadly force using assassin that speaks only to Tarkin from the shadows, actively hides from Vader, and during the breakout almost stops/captures Luke and Leia, before it looks like they managed to outplay her, only to then be revealed that she was acting under Tarkin's orders to let them get away.

I was surprised to, after Ronnie rolled that 90, I was expecting an upset.

But the dice proved me wrong.

And after that second 95 with Carrie it was all over.

I'm sure Linda would love the work, and not be typecasted as Wonder Woman if she gets the part. Though I truly love that goofy show.

I'm sure there will be no love lost on that sort of thing.

After all, we're casting.

She's gonna need to dye her Hair Red, but I can actually see Linda pulling off the Mara Jade look.
I know, right!?!

That said, while MJ is an iconic redhead, we are not bound to that. (Yes, I did, in fact, do that on purpose.)
Timmy Zahn is in no way connected to Star Wars at this point in in-quest time.
It is entirely too bad, that I could not manage to write up an omake about the idea before @Magoose gets the update out. (Curse you! How can you write so fast?! How?!)

I was thinking about this a couple days ago and I wasn't going to bring it up until Empire but...do we maybe want to introduce the concept of the Inquisitors into the Original Trilogy? As fucking stupid as they are in Disney Canon, I do quite like the concept of the Inquisitors in general and it would make for an interesting change, although I worry about too many Sith taking up oxygen space from Vader and Luke.

I'm going to start rolling for certain celebrities (and friends) that we know, and see what new actions we can make.

D100 => 98 #Elvis

Oh... Um... Okay, that's going to be something interesting. And maybe deserves an action, I'm not sure yet.

D100 => 87 #Lynda Carter

Okay. I think that deserves an action.

D100 => 80 #Debbie Reynolds

Uh oh, this might be bad. OR maybe a good thing.

D100 => 85 #Bob Kane
D100 => 98 #Bill Finger

And there is now light at the end of the Tunnel.

@Moon the universe has been righted for Bill Finger even after he died.

Batman was created by Bob Kane AND Bill Finger.

D100 => 77 #Ed Wood

And Ed got another season for his Mystery Theater.

D100 => 65 #Lucille Ball

And our TV Boss is doing fine.

Eh, I could vibe with it.
I always considered Bane to be overrated, and while his philosophies/teaching worked, it made the Sith less, rather than more.

I don't really think there's any place for Mara Jade to appear in the OT sadly as we kind of have to keep the Force villainy to Vader and the Emperor to highlight Vader's danger as the dragon and Palpatine's role as the ultimate evil and embodiment of everything wrong in the galaxy. Maybe we can have Mara come in the Marvel comics, but then that destroys the Thrawn Trilogy and outside of some details and story beats, it's really a highlight in terms of literary Star Wars that I don't want to mess with too much. Although I did have an Omake planned where Bruce helps edit the Han Solo Adventures...

Linda as Winter could be a really interesting choice that if the cards were played right, could maybe enhance the story. As was pointed out earlier, OT is notorious for only three women in the galaxy (Leia, Beru and Mon Mothma), and I think a fair amount of minor and supporting characters could be gender swapped or new characters inserted. Winter can serve as Leia's confidant and friend and while Leia handles leadership, Winter jumps immediately into action and handles the espionage angles with hints of her being a sort of Jane Bond. I could see Winter working decently in Empire and Return though for New Hope there wouldn't really be anything for her in the plot to stand out.

As for my other ideas:

Like I pointed out before, Ron Howard could work great in Kung Fu Kid as either Bobby or James. I'd lean towards James to really help Ron break out his Archie typecasting as the akward nerd and all-American boy by playing a grayish antagonist and bully, also ripped Ron would be fun. Just imagine he's filming the next season of Happy Days and everyone is shocked that Richie got buff over the summer and there's a funny plot where Fonzie fears Richie is becoming cooler than him.

Any one of these people could work well as one of the Adventure party in Playground, though for Linda to prevent her from just being D&D Wonder Woman, maybe have her be a warlock or artificier. Moonlight Diner can work well with any of them. For Pierce I imagine he could fit well as the protagonist of any of our historical fiction stuff, maybe Pierce Brosnan as Vampire Hunter Lincoln?

We're aquiring Marvel finally?
At least Stan and Jack are doing okay...

Mostly.
In OTL 1975, Jack Kirby had returned to Marvel as his contract with DC had expired and no other place would hire him. He went on to create the Eternals.

I'm guessing that Stan apologized to Jack when he came back, or before?

So rather than acquire Marvel, maybe we can work with Stan and Jack and make the Star Wars Marvel comics into a truly engaging and fun medium of Star Wars that's as equal to the books, games and shows rather than just pulpy fodder that would only become relevant for minor EU characters or the occasional RPG lore. Use the comics to keep the audience engaged along with some hints of canonicity through references and the occasional cameo or two. We can also use the comics as a starting ground for lore and setting development that we would have run out of space for in the movies, and one such plot point could be the Inquisitors who could be the recurring antagonists of the series to flesh out The Force and Empire and keep Vader unopposed as the chief force villain of the OT. This way when we start the EU and develop shows and games, we have established lore to build off of instead of people making things up left and right.

As long as Jeric and his Dark Jedi is off Screen until after Palps dies, we should be fine.

Personally I'd love to have a Dark Forces show in the 90s with the live action actors from Dark Forces II. Kyle Katarn is an amazing character who deserves to have more importance than a single video game series and a late EU book. We could make Dark Forces a proto Andor where it shows the grittiness of the galaxy absent in the films along with lots of espionage and ordinary people making their way in the galaxy.

I propose we raise a toast to Pierce Brosnan for taking one for the team and sucking all of the bad rolls. We salute you Pierce!

Good stuff for Bill, the Return of the King comes with the glory it deserves.

I know that I discussed having Harrison play Boba Fett but I got arguably a better idea. Namely George Takei. Imagine Trekkies going mad over his distinctive voice coming from the Mandalorian's helmet. And it would open the role to Asian actors for the inevitable prequels.
