Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Oh guys maybe we can intervene on one of Steven Spielberg friends who directed a scene in the twilight zone that killed an actors and two foreign kids (the dude regretted it after so many people reminded it to him and he got kicked out of Hollywood and filming after it) this friend also stoped being Steven friend after that
That movie is about a decade in the future. I say we've got more than enough time to try to prevent it. Or it can simply not happen because a decade's worth of butterflies can easily prevent a horrific accident from taking place.

When we properly fund Lucasfilm as an independent studio we should definitely make non-Star Wars movies to diversify the filmography and make Lucasfilm more than the "Star Wars guys". I still like having Robin Williams star in a film with the general premise of The Santa Clause. With a man like Robin the script practically writes itself.

So, what films and properties is everyone thinking that we should try to get under Lucasfilm? The rights to Jaws was purchased by Universal in '73 before the book was actually released, so we almost certainly can't do that despite the Spielberg connection. We could definitely do Jurassic Park once that rolls around and probably nab Spielberg for a while in general once Lucasfilm gets strongly established. I know I brought up Friday the 13th earlier in the thread as well, and we of course have all of our pitches, but what is everyone else thinking?

, but what is everyone else thinking?
All I will say is this:

You might want to start networking with Actors and directors now, rather than later, unless of course, you start making tons of award pushes that can boost the prestige of your company.

Or just have so much fucking money that you can just... bring people together with your talent and money.

Anyone else thinking about John Carpenter?

Man's weird as hell, but talented.

And James Cameron, the man's a total primadonna...but damn can he make a film.
Good shout.

Oh, definitely. Hoping to get started on that next turn.

We could definitely nab Back to the Future as well once 1980 rolls around.
On top of thinking what properties we want to bring under our aegis, we also got to think about who we want to network with. We already networked with Romero recently and we have an opportunity to network with Peter Falk. I'm thinking also networking with Spielberg, Stephen King, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Jackie Chan, and Don Bluth. Maybe Michael Eisner as brought up before as well. Not sure about anyone else though. Whose got ideas?

That was the plan, although I guess we could always try to bring Clint in to play Han and then we play Luke with Carrie as Leia. Lucas originally had Luke and Leia together anyway so it would be fine. Or just have Ford still play Han, or just play Han ourselves like previously stated.

Honestly I prefer Bruce, Carrie and Mark because Harrison has always had a negative relationship towards Han where he really hated the public image it brought in that despite his numerous high profile roles, he'd always be known just as Han Solo, though curiously this never applied to Indiana Jones. I don't think Clint would be interested in Star Wars unless Bruce sold it really hard, and weirdly enough most Clint social rolls tend to veer to low numbers. Mark kind of needs Luke cause he was never able to break out into other big live action roles, and while he got a major boost playing the Joker and became a legend in the VA community, that's decades away and he probably won't make it there without first being Luke.

I'm also down to Toshiro Mifune to replace Alec Guinness because whereas at least Harrison's feelings can lean to mixed at best and he appreciates what George did for him and his career, Alec always hated doing Obi-wan since in his eyes it ruined his image as a Shakesperean actor and everyone forgot his plethora of great 60's roles and remembered him for Star Wars. Toshiro is a pretty cool guy who is a master of his craft and treats his fellow cast members extremely well and is always noted as being someone who could make the set come alive and lift morale. An Asian Obi-wan can also be great in helping to push Asian representation in Hollywood, especially if a prequel trilogy is made. Aiming for John Cho to play Prequel Obi-wan if it comes to that, not to mention Mifune by this point has aged decently enough that anyone who plays Obi-wan in the prequels could still be him in a hypothetical Kenobi series.

But then we wouldn't have Ewan Macgregor as Obi-Wan, and we all know he was the best part of the Prequels!

No I am not biased :V

I'm also down to Toshiro Mifune
Grandmaster Mifune deserves more then JUST being Obi-Wan!

HMM!!

Has anyone heard of Nejaa Halcyon

He might fit and in terms of Plot we can squeeze in Corran Horn as a member of the Rogue Squadron in Empire Strikes Back.

Hell it can make Degobah very interesting.

And we can use our Clout to FINALLY get Master Mifune into a PROPER Shakesperian Role as Hamlet or the Scottish Play!
an early Rahm Kota or something, although I fight it too strongly if that's what the thread wants.
I think I have a solution for you, if Magoose hasn't thought of something else.

Though Kota being involved early is also a fun idea.

Networking options for the future:
  • Peter Falk because I'm a big fan of Columbo and he could introduce us to Cassavetes/Rowlands.
  • Martin Scorsese for obvious reasons.
  • Steven Spielberg for obvious reasons plus he could introduce us to Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future, Roger Rabbit, Forrest Gump).
  • Brian De Palma, Director of Carrie, Blow Out, Scarface, The Untouchables, etc.
  • Sidney Lumet, Director of 12 Angry Men, Dog Day Afternoon, Network, etc.
  • Jerry Bruckheimer, Producer of Top Gun, National Treasure, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.
  • Michael Mann, Director of Manhunter, Heat, Collateral, Public Enemies, etc.

To this I'd add:

Ridley Scott, because it's Ridley Scott, come on!
James Cameron, though that may still be for later in the future.
Sylvester Stallone, because Rocky being done by Lucasfilm would be amazing.
Robert Zemeckis since the man is a pioneer in many forms of cinema.
Michael J. Fox, he's an amzing actor and deserves more roles to play.
