Idk why you guys think Lucius is dumb. We barely know him and we're gonna offer his son a scholarship? It's obviously a bribe, once he knows we're trying to get something from him he will close up completely.

Exactly. I don't understand logic of this bandwagon.

While I do not presume to know what goes through the voters head, I may have a few ideas as to why the scholarship option is so popular (or, rather, why the other options, aside from "Have a meeting between scientists of Wayne Enterprises and LexCorp to exchange ideas" (for that, I really have no idea as to why it is so unpopular), might seem to be not as preferable to the voters) (while I am currently voting for that option, I would be just as happy with the idea exchange, but it is lagging behind by quite a bit):

- "Back off on poaching Lucius for now" goes right out as an option because going for that means we chose talking to Lucius for nothing, so no one is really inclined to vote for this, as we all seem to want to at least gain something from talking to him;
- "Attempt to recruit Lucius" is also an option that no one should be going for because it would be extremely hard to convince Lucius Fox to abandon Bruce Wayne for us, so no use in trying to convince him;
- "Offer Lucius' son an internship at LexCorp" does not seem to be that popular of an option as some people suspect that doing this is going to have Luciux Fox's son will be spying on us for Wayne Enterprises; also, it might arguably also be seen as a bribe attempt by Lucius for similar reasons as offering his son a scholarship.

If I were to speculate, scholarship is so popular because the other votes do not really seem to see it as a bribe attempt by us towards Lucius, and more of an attempt at making him like us more (and even then I would say it is going to take a lot to get Lucius to go from Bruce Wayne to us via making him like us more than Bruce)... (also, we do have Intrigue 21 vs Lucius who has only 9 in Intrigue...)

As am I. This party is ripe with omake opportunities. My three favorite options are Alfred Pennyworth, Maxie Zeus and Vicki Vale for just seeing what people can come up with.
Omake: A Butler's Work Is Never Done
*At the party Alfred steps next to Bruce*
Bruce: Where were you Alfred?
Alfred: Oh just taking out the trash sir.
*flash to trash can with a sign wearing cat's feet stick out of it*

We haven't gone into this market yet, and I'm interested in continuing to expand quickly over perfecting product for now anyway. I'm not a fan of the prosthetics option as I think we would give them more knowledge on robotics than they would give us on prosthetics, as our prosthetics already work well for humans. For this new tech, we bring our computing and robotics knowledge to the table while Wayne brings medical expertise to integrate cutting edge medical science into our work which is much more needed for this project.

[X] [Kane] Offer Katherine Kane a job in security at LexCorp

I'd like to have someone we can trust on the inside of the military but if she is that unmotivated to stay on then we are likely to make more progress if she works directly for us.

[X] [Fox] Offer Lucius' son a scholarship

This would mean more for his future than an internship (I'd argue that this point in his life the son could use a degree more than a resume) - and if we have helped his son, that's something he will remember. Fox could be more useful working for Wanye than for us if it gives us a friend on the inside of Wanye's (and thus Batman's) operations.

[X] Regroup with Pamela

Seems reasonable to me - we don't want her to die so soon into the quest if we can help it.

[X] Rally the people

Show the world our leadership skills in a time of crisis - and hopefully, see what useful skills everyone has to combat these foes. I'll let Wanye slip out so Batman can help - maybe he'll join the war against the League if he uncovers sufficient evidence, which he might be interested in after this attack. Of course, that maybe bring him into our business, which could be extremely messy.

[X] Lead others to escape the ballroom

Know when to hold'em, know when to fold'em.

Interlude: Something's Rotten in Gotham
So the vote is now closed. It was interesting seeing the two options that people most strongly agreed on. The winning votes are:
[ ] Regroup with Pamela
[ ] Rally the people
[ ] Lead others to escape the ballroom
[ ] [Collab] Work together on prosthetics
[ ] [Kane] Offer Katherine Kane a job in LexCorp security
[ ] [Fox] Offer Lucius' son a scholarship

Without further ado here is the interlude of the night from Pamela's perspective. As a side note every time Pamela refers to Woodrue in this interlude she merely calls him "that bastard" (I hope that heads off possible confusion). Pamela's in kind of a culty state of mind at this point (she is a still a little unstable) and has been thoroughly manipulated by Luthor to want to serve him as best she can to repay him for "making her vision a reality" (What Luthor is actually doing is picking the ideas that he likes and then blaming the rest of the world for why he can't fully enact the massive sweeping changes Pamela wants, increasing her misanthropy for the outside world and increasing her faith and dependence on him). Pamela is also very unreliable in how she perceives Bruce Wayne.

Interlude: Something's Rotten in Gotham
Pamela
Pamela hated Gotham. While she grew up there she disdained the dark concrete city and its total disconnect from nature. While Metropolis had its problems at least there the air and trees were clean and the city had plenty of parks and open naturalistic areas. Gotham was mired in garbage both literal and metaphorical. Pamela couldn't wait to leave this city. Initially Pamela was rather surprised that Lex had invited her as his plus one to this event. Surely it would make more sense to take Mercy as the woman was practically the head of security. Luthor then explained that he had a job for Mercy to complete in Metropolis and that the party was both a reward for a job well done (he was rather impressed with the armors) and a chance for her to hone her skills in the arena of words. Pamela understood the necessity of politicking but ignorant fools who couldn't see the need to protect mother earth always angered her to the point where she often lost her cool. The discovery of how the bastard had fucked with her head only further threw her off kilter. However Lex believed in her and she would make sure she wouldn't let him down.

Pamela straightened out her forest green gown, checked that both her hidden armor was on underneath (Luthor similarly had taken to wearing his set under his suit) and steadied herself for the night to come. Pamela took Lex's arm and strode into the ballroom that the party was occurring in. The ballroom was large opulent and practically a monument to the excess of the wealthy in Gotham, who wasted their lives in hedonistic pursuits rather than conducting important work. A large fountain stood in the center of the room and already some loud drunken buffoon had fallen in and made a spectacle of himself. Various models and businessmen twittered and discussed minor pursuits and affairs each one so focused on themselves they couldn't see the bigger picture. Pamela fought the urge to sneer at the partygoers. No one here was like her or Lex. No one understood that the purpose of wealth status and power wasn't an end onto itself. No the real value of those things was n your ability to use those things to bring about change. Lex had consoled her that the world was full of small-minded cretins like that bastard who wouldn't understand her message. A good idea and a kind word would do nothing to change the world for the better. That was why Lex used any means necessary to get his point across and change the world. And now he was teaching her to do the same. Pamela felt honored that he would invest so much into her.

She and Lex walked up to the party's central figure Bruce Wayne himself. The man was handsome but evidently self-absorbed. He was talking to some attractive red-headed reporter while his date sat nearby fuming at being ignored throughout the night. When Wayne saw her and Luthor approaching he dismissively waved off the reporter. Pamela hated him already. He reminded her of how that bastard would treat her back at Gotham university. She reminded herself that this was for a good cause and set her face into a rather forced smile.

"Lex, what brings the Cell-Phone king to my humble little welcome home party?" Wayne arrogantly ambled.

"Business Mr. Wayne" Lex sharply replied "I personally do my best to run my company so I like to meet my peers in the industry to get a better grasp of the market. Plus it always is polite to welcome back a major figure like yourself"

Pamela tried not to snort. Mercy had once told her that Lex had no peers in any industry, he merely had roadblocks and annoyances and frankly with what she had seen of Lex's astounding intellect so far Pamela simply had to agree. No one could truly match his mind. Pamela was willing to bet that Bruce Wayne would end up being nothing more than a slight annoyance.

"God that sounds so dull." Bruce Wayne chuckled "I couldn't imagine all the stress that comes with running such a large cooperation. You should relax a bit Lex have fun it's a party. Dance with your date, I don't imagine its very often you can entertain both yourself and a beautiful woman".

Bruce's date snorted and muttered to herself that Bruce Wayne should take his own advice before she decided to ditch him.

Lex smiled. "And I find that rather than relaxing and letting myself go parties are the best time to do business. Everyone is so much less wound up about everything"

"I guess that's true" Wayne laughed "Heck who knows maybe if I end up running the company in the future I'll make every meeting into a party to get people comfortable"

Wayne then turned and looked at Pamela "And who is this lovely Lady" he interrupted.

"Dr. Pamela Isley" Pamela bluntly responded. Maybe reminding him of my doctorate will help him treat my ideas with respect Pamela mused as she forced a grin onto her face.

"I'd be willing to play doctor with you anytime" Wayne responded promptly dashing all hopes Pamela had of being taken seriously.

"I am a botanist Mr. Wayne, I don't appreciate the harassment" Pamela snapped back.

Wayne's eyes suddenly flashed as though he had figured something out. Pamela's gut rolled as she felt nervous at what he had gleaned from that rather small statement. Then just as quickly as it came the sharp analytical look vanished and Wayne's usual relaxed dopey manner returned

"Ah you were involved with that Professor Woodrue fellow who got involved in all of those scandals not too long ago" Wayne drawled out. Pamela's smile faltered. Why was he bringing up that bastard Pamela had moved past him? Pamela tensed "Are you sure you are comfortable with being here at this event? Most people who were in abusive and exploitative relationships often struggle to get out of them. Seeing that you are apparently dating your superior again after the disastrous situation at the university I have to say I'm a little concerned."

Pamela saw red. How dare he. HOW DARE HE!!! How dare this ignorant pathetic parasitic leech who wanted to get into her pants use this fabricated idea that she was being exploited by her boss to ruin the good thing she had going for herself now. How dare this insipid waste of oxygen compare Lex Luthor to that bastard. Lex Luthor had saved her. Who knows where she would have been if she hadn't found a way to leave that bastard and his mind altering pheromone spray. Never before had Pamela wanted to kill someone as much as she wanted to kill Bruce Wayne. Ivo was the rudest most insulting and dismissive individual Pamela had ever met but he had never touched a personal scar so carelessly and so rudely. Pamela hated Bruce Wayne.

Before she could tear into him. Lex smoothly interrupted about how offended he was by Wayne's allegations against both his own and Pamela's character. He removed Pamela from the conversation and gave her time to calm down and process things. Pamela chatted a bit with Bruce's date and her belief about how poor his character was only grew. However as time passed she realized she had failed. She hadn't managed to politick correctly and Lex had to step in and solve the problem himself. Sure he had managed to salvage a deal where the two companies would collaborate on prosthetics but Pamela had personally failed in the task Luthor had expected her to complete.

With a heavy heart Pamela went to waltz with Luthor. The man was a talented dancer but at this point Pamela was no longer surprised by the sheer depths of Luthor's knowledge. Pamela profusely apologized for her failure and promised that his faith in her was not misplaced at all. Luthor then reassured her that this was all a learning experience and that Wayne was utterly worthless. Someone like him could never understand Pamela so Lex told her she might as well not even bother. By playing into these preconceived ideas others had about her Pamela could easily manipulate others to do what she wanted. With this bit of advice ad as the waltz came to a close Pamela was feeling confident again. She would not fail Lex again. Lex then gave her the assignment of conversing with Philip and Katherine Kane.

This time Pamela played into how others perceived her. Philip Kane was a lecherous slime ball who believed that money and power were strong enough aphrodisiacs that it would make Pamela willing to sleep with a man over thirty years her senior who wasn't particularly pleasant personality or appearance wise. The insecure little man revealed company secrets to Pamela ranging from new medical devices they were testing to phone plans to the companies burgeoning interest in the weapons and security market. Pamela played into his perceptions acting coy and flirtatious and generally just pulling the man along to get him to spill as much detail as possible. However despite her best efforts Philip Kane refused to give any actual details regarding his own wealth. Something fishy was going on there. Still Pamela had gotten more than what she needed and as such she left the conversation.

Pamela then went on to chat with Katherine Kane. Unlike with Philip Kane Pamela did not feel like she needed to dumb herself down for Katherine to feel threatened and it worked. While Katherine was oftentimes distracted throughout the conversation (and Pamela wasn't quite sure why) she was eager to listen to Pamela and revealed plenty of her own problems. Katherine revealed that she was concerned with her uncle as he had been meeting with men she suspected were part of the Falcone crime family. Katherine was also military but was growing increasingly disillusioned with her inability to advance and the way she was treated by her superiors. Pamela mentioned how she had previously had similar issues but how working at LexCorp had helped solve them. Pamela offered Katherine a job working for LexCorp security since a man like Luthor would surely appreciate her talents. Katherine eagerly accepted the job.

All in all the night had gone well in the end. Sure Pamela had screwed up a bit with Wayne but she had succeeded and improved and learned from her failures securing vital information on a rival and a useful asset for Lex. Pamela was starting to enjoy the party. Then she heard the gunshot. A nondescript man in a cheap tux had gone and shot Lex.

Pamela intellectually knew that the armor Lex was wearing had saved his life but she was still frozen in shock for a second. Why did Gotham try to ruin everything good in her life? As the assassin began to reload Pamela pulled out a pistol she had hidden on her person. Before she could kill the assassin herself the man was burned alive by the woman Lex was recently talking to. Pamela was glad the man had suffered exquisitely in his last moments. She wouldn't let anyone stand in her way of saving the world and Lex Luthor was vital to her success. Something was rotten in Gotham and Pamela intended to rip it out root and stem.

Pamela Reaction to the assassin subvote
Please vote for up to two options
[ ] Hunt down assassins
[ ] Keep track of Bruce Wayne
[ ] Stay close to Katherine Kane
[ ] Protect Lex Luthor
[ ] Assist the three police officers
[ ] Protect Alberto Falcone
[ ] Protect Philip Kane
[ ] Rally the people
[ ] Organize and lead the active combatants
[ ] Call the authorities
[ ] Lead others to escape the ballroom
[ ] Escape in the chaos

Sorry for the one hour delay this interlude took a while and I wanted to make it interesting. Pamela is still a bit crazy (not Poison Ivy crazy) but her obsessiveness is starting to come out a little more. There will be a half hour moratorium on this vote due to the delay in posting it.
