Hey @King crimson, which universe do you think is the better place to live in: Marvel Universe or the DC Universe?

My opinion is the DC Universe as long as you don't live in Gotham.

My reasons are that basically citizens in the Marvel Universe are portrayed as apathetic assholes and the government do incredibly horrible decisions that makes them look like morons or a pseudo-fascist government. Let's not forget the fact that the constant fighting between heroes and villains, heroes and heroes etc. makes for a very short life span. Also Mutants. You have a good reason to fear them, but treating them like monsters just makes things worse.
Ultimate Universe was just "everyone who wasn't a Spider-Man is an asshole".

DC, while also sharing a large amount of destructive battles and cataclysmic affairs on a daily basis, at least has fantastic and inspiring heroes who will make it their first priority to save your life and take responsibility for their faults and failures. The only place you have to absolutely avoid is Gotham and then you can have a somewhat decent life.

I'm obviously missing a lot of smaller details about both universes, but what is your opinion?

Marvel tends to be worse for normal people and people who try to do good. Honestly I think being an apathetic ass is more of a survival skill than anything else. When a country run by a guy who calls himself Doctor Doom is one of the safest places on the planet then you know something is weird. There are pockets of Marvel that are nice (Wakanda and Atlantis come to mind) while the majority of it is pretty terrible especially if you are trying to actually accomplish anything since the world seems determined to grind any and all efforts down to nothing.

DC by contrast is generally slightly nicer with pockets that are complete hellholes. Gotham is by no means the only place that's utterly messed up and there are less random Utopias. It's on the whole easier to pass through life unremarkably.

I'm simplifying a fair deal but I personally would prefer to live in DC over Marvel because it's a bit easier to cause things to improve in DC as a setting and a lot of the things in it's ecosystem have an equal and opposite number to balance them out unlike in Marvel where bad things exist in a vacuum with no good counterbalance (Skrulls, Kree, Thanos, Annihilus, Galactus, Beyonders and more have nothing that naturally opposes them). The heroes of one place or another tend to hit pretty similar beats but it's the unchecked nature of the bigger Marvel villains that ultimately makes my decision go with DC.

That's my take on it at least. I actually don't think Gotham is the worst place to live in the DC universe. It's just the most prolific bad place.

I will say Sivana is a MUCH better super-scientist than Luthor. His stuff is more like Abra Kadabra-level "magic-like tech" than anything Luthor can make. The only reason he isn't the prime DC villain is the fact that Fawcett was overtaken by DC, instead of the other way around.

Anyway, looking at this discussion, I mainly agree with...
[X] Plan Not Glamorous, But Effective

Honestly, while those drones sound much more subdued than I'd expect from Lex Luthor, these are but early models, so I'm ready to let their lack of glamour slide.

I do think other booths should be allowed to the Lexpo. If anything, they'll look like they are asking for L-Corp's scraps, as their tech doesn't offer much of a competition, from what we've seen. I am only worried about the GM's warning that Lex can overextend at the expo if too many options are chosen, which sounds strange and dangerous to me (if anything, I think this vote should have been "What NOT to present at the Lexpo?", as expositions tend to be pretty huge).

On the exosuits, I am siding with @Simon_Jester for one simple reason: this is NOT a "develop a personal Lexosuit to combat Kryptonians" action. This is the FIRST BIG SUCCESS LexCorp has had with the exosuits, at all, the first ones ready to be more than prototypes. OF COURSE they want to sell them to the government (and only to them - Lex's agreement with Count Werner only covered meta-powers) and advertise them.

And what's with the idea that LexCorp never sold exosuits and battle robots in canon? They even sold them (covertly) to foreign countries and freaking Intergang. This campaign's LexCorp is much more patriotic than that, btw. The things Lex didn't sell are those personally-developed Superman-level power armors, but those were not in mass production, but rather appeared to be unique projects. In any case, this vote is not ABOUT the elite Lexosuits, from what I understand. That may be an option for the future, when Lex gets an idea of having reliable personal protection against supers.

I will say this right now: @Simon_Jester @King crimson thank you for the term Lexosuit in general, and for everything you have BOTH done for this quest. I've checked the wiki and it just refers to it as "Lex Luthor's Warsuit".
You have to thank The CW's Supergirl writing staff for that first.

if "Plan Not Glamorous, But Effective" wins can we upgrad our 2 spy drones lines in the future our do we have to make new lines?

@King crimson said that? Wait, hang on. I would probably trim a few options depending on how that was worded. Could someone give me details, please?

He said that about doing every choice, so we should have breathing room no matter which plan wins.

It's the matter of "exact wording". If only picking 'everything' results in a malus, then it's fine. But the resulting plans are pretty much "almost everything", so I hope that doesn't count as spreading Lex too thin.

Our Nemesis

Superman ready to take on LexCorp Security.

tbh, this was gonna be a spoof with Lex face on the body... but I changed my mind last second.
As always I'm glad to have more fanart. I'm actually really jealous of the ability you have to draw hands and feet well (I can do everything else decently but those parts of the body are downright impossible for me to do well with). You've earned 400 exp.

I think I'll be closing the voting period at around 2:30. There will be an update late tonight. Update's are going to slow down soon because of complications involving finals week and the Coronavirus (I do not have it but the university I am in may shut things down for a week which will lead to more complications). I hope you all can understand.

Thank you, @King crimson . I probably won't need any more time, but I wanted to make sure I'd done it before you set the plan in stone or something. Also to tell @Gumiho that their exact copy-paste of my plan no longer matches the original, because I edited it to remove a few things to reduce 'overextension' somewhat.

OK, dropping subatomic imaging and tractor-pressor beams (still very out there, high tech, and we're not doing much with them immediately IMO).

Dropping facial recognition (the public being less aware of how much capability we've got along those lines might actually be a good thing).

Dropping "have important people give presentations" because it adds scheduling and security complications.

Dropping one of the TWO redundant "Have Lex Luthor speak/give a speech" options.

Dropping the 3D printers because we're not planning to SELL those and raising their profile increases the risk of people committing industrial espionage against us.

OK. Unless someone objects- and I can only plead the urgency of the situation- I think we're ready to go, @King crimson .

It's the matter of "exact wording". If only picking 'everything' results in a malus, then it's fine. But the resulting plans are pretty much "almost everything", so I hope that doesn't count as spreading Lex too thin.
Well, I dropped an additional half-dozen options, so I hope that helps.

Maybe in future we should hold Lexpos more often so that we can more tightly focus on a specific group of achievements.

Yeah, facial recognition is something that'd make folks worry. Ignorance is bliss. Information gathering is a possible profitable venture, of course, though it should be "okayed" by DOMA/ARGUS.

Speaking of which, we should Investigate/consult with ARGUS. Waller is an excellent ally to have.
In my humble opinion, Amanda Waller, like Lex, is very much of a control freak, fancying herself a "mastermind". She likes resourceful but "reserved" allies, such as Batman, whom she can push around via blackmail and general desire to do good. LexCorp, a massive company with the apparent power of infiltrating/overthrowing/taking over small countries, is immensely suspicious to her. With Waller, Luthor mostly needs to "stay out of her business", and continue proving that he's allied with American interests, and has no intention of overthrowing or subverting the government. She is the quintessential "deep state" if there ever was one.

Honestly yeah.

@King crimson has observed that Lex, as we've been playing him, has a strong tendency to lash out at or cut ties with any "ally" he does not control.

We've seen that tendency expressing itself in the recent vote debate; I was surprised by how vehemently a number of people advocated not selling advanced weaponry to the US government because it would give us more 'control' over our recently developed advanced technology. I don't want to relitigate that argument, but the fact that it happened and that several posters showed up to tell me I was being an idiot for designing the suits and drones with the intent of some day marketing them to the government... Well, it illustrated the point above.

Amanda Waller is likely to present similar problems for anyone she works with. The reason her signature policy action is to have supervillainous characters with bombs in their heads is precisely because she doesn't choose to rely on any asset she cannot personally control.

We have no intention of letting Waller control us, so working with her will be very hard. We may be better off just making sure our relationship with the DOMA is very solid, and letting Price run interference for us if Waller chooses to target our organization.
