Technically yes. What I'm actually doing is rolling a D100 dividing by 5 and then rounding up but that is because I didn't bring a D20 with me to college. As soon as I get back home for a bit I'll be grabbing a D20 and using that for these rolls.
I have an informational post on personal actions that goes over exactly what these actions are for and how I process them.
You can go to the website random.org and tell it to roll a d-whatever-number-you want, you know. It's what I did when I was in college.
Your Actions
[ ] Integrate advances in armor into exosuits
DC 35
Roll 97 + 17 (Rose martial stat) + 67 (reroll bonus) + 17 (Rose martial stat)
Total 198
Absolutely incredible success
Rose has managed to prove her worth. While she doesn't have a degree of any sort she was rapidly able to absorb the information and offer solutions to the problems. Your scientists managed to reduce the overheating problem by using some of the armor as a heat sink and they have developed a new type of armor as well for it. Meanwhile Rose has shown a proficiency for exosuits and is capable of pushing them even further than the average person can.
Results: Risk of exosuit with flight unit overheating decreased, Rose gains the traited Powered Armor Skill which gives her + 10 to any martial rolls involving the use of an exosuit or armor, Improved Armor subvote
Hm. Rose Wilson as a mecha pilot definitely gives her a way to differentiate herself from dear ol' dad.
Nice.
[ ] Begin a PMC
DC 34
Roll 24 + 17 (Katherine martial stat) = 41
Minor success
Katherine Kane has reached out to a few of her ex-army contacts in order to try and found a PMC. Responses to it have been found middling but you have managed to get just enough people to found the company. The PMC currently has no real leader and the organization is rather shoddy. Still these problems can be overcome with time.
Results: 120 ex-soldiers recruited into PMC, PMC is heavily disorganized and lacks leadership, Name the PMC subvote
Hm. Disappointing, but we can improve it I guess. The PMC is likely to be a major asset for direct military action, so spending a few actions cultivating it is likely to be important- sort of like the exosuits.
[ ] Meet with Daphne Dean
DC 7
Roll 56 + 14 (Mari diplomacy stat) = 70
Astounding success
On the other hand, Mari's meeting with Daphne Dean proved remarkably effective. Ms. Dean was remarkably cooperative and was willing to work with LexCorp. She personally agreed to several different deals which could benefit LexCorp and has shown interest in working with the company more in the future. On top of that she and Mari managed to get along quite well and have remained in contact with one another.
Results: Mari McCabe and Daphne Dean are now friends, Daphne Dean's Deals subvote
OK good. It sounds like we don't have her on staff as a permanent hero unit, but it's a good start.
[ ] Recruit talented scientists
DC 36
Roll 16 + 24 (Oswald diplomacy stat + trait) = 40
Bare success
Oswald has not really had his heart in completing this assignment. As such, while he got the job done it is far below the standard of excellence you were expecting from him. He managed to find a few candidates you could work with but it is far from the extensive list your previous foray had gotten you. Oswald once again requested that he be able to produce television and wants to be able to have his show back on air.
Results: Oswald once again requests to work on television and seeks to get his show on air, Recruiting Talented Scientists subvote
Crud.
Well, with that said, we should take a scientist or two; we may lose Karl soon and we can use all the mental muscle we can get.
[ ] Meet with Lucy Lane to discuss future potential legal issues
DC 16
Roll 75
Incredible success
Meeting with Lucy Lane ended up working out remarkably well. While she started out skittish, as she realized you were genuine with your questions and sought out her insights to complicated problems of patenting revolutionary technologies and thus establishing monopolies, she began to open up. She ended up engaging in a rather spirited conversation on the nature of anti-trust laws. Lucy Lane left the meeting feeling far more comfortable and eager to get what she wanted and you left with sound legal advice and an in towards recruiting her to work more directly underneath you
Results: Lucy Lane far more comfortable around Lex Luthor and trusts him, Lucy Lane is now less likely to take Lois' warnings about Lex seriously, learned a bit about what laws you are closest to violating if you released and patented all of your new technology.
Good result. Hopefully this will reduce some DCs or the bad consequences of failures. Bringing Lucy Lane on-board as a hero unit would be nice, of course.
[ ] Begin mining Kryptonite
DC 20
Roll 71 + 15 (Nygma stewardship stat) = 86
Amazing success
Putting Nygma in charge of mining out Kryptonite is certainly odd but the man has excelled in the position. While many of the workers were resentful of him, he managed to get things done faster than they were scheduled and has exceeded your quota. You know have almost an excess of Kryptonite and you are ready to begin using it for batteries and power plants. On top of all of this an unusual situation has come about. Nygma has noticed that one of the miners has begun to emit radiation similar to kryptonite and has contacted you for orders on what to do regarding the subject.
Results: Gained tons of kryptonite, Kryptonite Man subvote
Ah,
very good, Mr. Nygma.
Also, we should probably keep that radioactive guy on payroll. And pay some hush money or something.
[ ] Begin Production of Service Robots
DC 12
Roll 98 + 16 (Carl stewardship stat) + 12 (reroll bonus) + 16 (Carl stewardship stat)
Total 142
Planetary success
Carl has managed to oversee the production of the new service robots quite effectively and this has caused the world to become more interested in purchasing these robots than ever. You have effectively managed to create a solid enough stock that you are confident you have the supply to handle the demand of your new product. The world eagerly awaits with bated breath LexCorp's new revolutionary product. You now have enough robots to clean your own facilities and sell them to others.
Results: Lots of service robots produced, gained 500 service robots for personal use, interest in LexCorp products at an all time high, Carl gained the trait Robot Assembler which gives him a + 3 in the relevant stat on any action that involves assembling robots.
Very good! And this gives us something to do with Carl when he's not fortifying stuff.
[ ] [Comp] Install a learning program into your supercomputer
DC 48
Roll 18 + 31 (Lex Luthor stewardship stat) = 49
Bare success
The learning program was admittedly rather tricky. Lots of Ivo's work was done in a bizarre manner so combining the learning program with the supercomputer, which was created by a few different individuals was a challenge. You eventually succeeded in the task but you are not sure if there may be some unintentional bugs due to language transfers causing errors when their should be none. The program seems to work, even if it is less impressive than you'd like it to be, but you intend to run some tests to check that everything is in order.
Results: Installed a learning program into the supercomputer that needs to be thoroughly tested to ensure there are no errors with it. So far it seems safe and it functions as far as you can tell.
Meh. Well, OK, not bad, we may have to take another action with it to really nail things down.
[ ] Hire Lady Vic for a job
DC 6
Roll 39
Significant success
Lady Vic was quite happy to be working with you again. You managed to contact her through a series of proxies and covering your tracks but you have her interest in doing another job. While she has kept her rate reasonably low she has notably requested not to have any assignment involving taking on Ignition and was far more assertive in what she was and wasn't willing to do. You have kept on good terms with her but she has grown a bit more demanding. Fortunately she is still more than happy to take on Intergang and as such you can still make use of her.
Results: Lady Vic's Job subvote
Excellent. Whacking Vincent Edge sounds within her wheelhouse.
[ ] Locate Vincent Edge
DC 20
Roll 99 + 10 (Cerise intrigue stat) + 96 (reroll bonus) + 10 (Cerise intrigue stat) + 22 (second reroll bonus + 10 (Cerise intrigue stat)
Total 247
Utterly and totally fantastic success
Cerise has revealed herself to be a powerhouse when it comes to tracking down individuals. She has shown a knack for scrying and came up with what is essentially a spell that tracks others through connections. As such she has managed to figure out a way to track Vincent Edge's exact location at any and all times. This level of power is significantly above what you were expecting from her which is concerning but you plan to make use of her abilities for now.
Results: Gained exact knowledge of where Vincent Edge is at all times, created sympathetic tracking spell, learned that Cerise can scry, Cerise intrigue stat + 7, Cerise gained? The trait Sight Beyond Sight which lets her see magical links between people and objects and gives a +20 to any action involving the sympathetic tracking spell
Damn.
We have no idea whether Cerise actually had these powers before or not, do we?
We can't tell whether this is because she's
actually a mighty clairvoyant mage out of legend, or whether she's just, y'know, good at what she does.
On the other hand, we can keep using her for similar actions.
[ ] Infiltrate Markovia
DC 250
Roll 33 + 23 (Lex Luthor intrigue stat) + 30 (Mercy intrigue stat times coop score with Lex rounded up) + 36 (Cassandra Luthor intrigue stat times coop score with Lex) - 5 (Cassandra Luthor trait) + 23 (Roxanne intrigue stat times coop score with Lex rounded up) + 5 (Lex trait) + 52 (reroll bonus) + 23 (Lex Luthor intrigue stat) + 30 (Mercy intrigue stat times coop score with Lex rounded up) + 36 (Cassandra Luthor intrigue stat times coop score with Lex) - 5 (Cassandra Luthor trait) + 23 (Roxanne intrigue stat times coop score with Lex rounded up) + 5 (Lex trait) + 10 (Mercy trait)
Total 319
Astounding success
You have managed to make it into the country of Markovia without being detected and without issue and have managed to bring a squad of fifty LexCorp security forces along with you. You are now ready to begin looking for anything you can make use of within the country and potentially deny your enemies access to resources
Results: Inside Markovia event
...Fifty men.
Nice.
[ ] Learn about the brain
DC 22
Roll 1 + 33 (Ivo learning stat) + 12 (Marie learning stat times coop score with Ivo rounded up)
Total 46
Significant success
Ivo has managed to find some interesting information about the mind. Unfortunately he is quite unhappy. While Dahl was able to keep him focused and on task, his desperation to outrun his disease and complete the AMAZO project has left him immensely bitter. He has demanded to once again work on the project and while Dahl has kept him from becoming too angry at LexCorp if he is denied the ability to work on his project he may become a liability.
Results: Learn About the Brain subvote, Lex and Ivo coop score - 0.05, Ivo demands to be allowed to work on the A.M.A.Z.O. project.
I mean, that's fair. I was hoping this would actually enhance his odds on the project, and in the subvote we should DEFINITELY prioritize mind-machine interfaces and uploading, whatever is likely to lead to progress on A.M.A.Z.O.
But Ivo's demands are reasonable, I fully support them, and quite frankly I think we should throw Lex and a strong collaborative team at A.M.A.Z.O. next turn to bring about the success he desires.
[ ] Improve bone growth formula
DC 65
Roll 10 + 19 (Pamela learning stat) + 17 (Karl learning stat times coop score with Pamela) + 11 (Jinx learning stat times coop score with Pamela rounded up)
Total 57
Minor Failure
Karl has also shown signs of irritability and developing instability. No progress was made on the bone growth formula as even with Pamela's expertise and Jinx's attempts to assist nothing was done. Karl has only grown more desperate and bitter. His mentality is becoming quite concerning and while he hasn't lashed out yet, the mounting anger and frustration makes him a potential time bomb. You need to figure out a solution to this problem and soon.
Results: No progress is made in improving the formula, Jinx and Karl's coop score -0.1
Ah, shit. OK, we need to figure out something on this. Maybe have Pamela lead a stronger collaboration on the project next turn. That plus Lex means a LOT of resources committed, but what can we do? At least we'll hopefully have one more scientist next turn.
We could stack, say, Lex+Ivo+Cassandra =
36 + (.45*33 = +15) + (2*(15-5) = +20) + (Ivo's Trait +7) + (Lex's Trait +10) =
+88 on the die roll.
Maybe throw in Dahl if we want virtually total certainty of success; that gives us +11 for Dahl's contribution (1.5*11), and another +5 to Lex's bonus for a total of +104.
Then for bone growth
Pamela+Karl+Jinx+Mercy =
+47 (existing collaboration) + 10 + (Mercy's Trait +10) = +67, enough to beat the DC if it doesn't rise.
[ ] Learn about computers
DC 14
Roll 48 + 18 (Felicity learning stat) + 15 ( Carol learning stat times coop score with Felicity rounded up)
Total 79
Astounding success
Felicity has once again proven to be able to get past the blocks that have plagued your scientists when dealing with computers. As such you are quite happy to note that you have begun advancing in the field. Soon if this pattern continues, you will be able to overtake Kord Communications and become the primary company in the rapidly expanding digital world. Carol has asked to be allowed to focus on her own company once more and she has earned it even if you do feel Felicity has done most of the heavy lifting for this project.
Results: Carol requests to go back to improving Ferris Aerospace, Learn About Computers subvote
Nice. We have good things we can have Carol work on. Maybe we can further lower A.M.A.Z.O. DCs this way.
@King crimson , does this request of Carol refer
specifically to "expand Ferris Aerospace," the specific action? Or to aerospace actions in general?
[ ] Develop combat robots
DC 21
Roll 7 + 19 (Rebecca learning stat) = 26
Bare success
With Rebecca's intelligence you figured having her develop combat robots would be a cinch. However you miscalculated. Not everyone can so effortlessly master any new subject. As such Rebecca's lack of familiarity with robotics has left you with a rather lackluster result. While the combat robots created can move and fire lasers, they have terrible aim, shoddy tactics and are not too vulnerable. It's something and serves as an excellent proof of concept but with Rebecca's lack of knowhow on what exactly to do the results are far below what you were hoping for.
Results: Combat robots which are not durable, have terrible tactics and bad aim have been created
Mook Mark One battle droid activated. Roger-roger.
We need a better killbot. Sic Rose on them, at least she'll have fun beating up the killbots.
Or we could have Rose and Cassandra team up on them. They can have
lots of fun beating up the killbots.
[ ] Test to see who can wield the Sword of Beowulf
DC 0
Roll 68
Important success
The Sword of Beowulf is a powerful magical artifact you have acquired through less than legal means. Legends state that whoever is pure of heart can wield the sword and will never fall in battle. You have begun testing it. None of your employees could remove the sword from its scabbard. You were unable to remove the sword from its scabbard. Oddly enough Cassandra could only sometimes pull out the sword when she was told to do so, but was incapable of retaining it for long or pulling it out without orders. You have much to hypothesize about.
Results: Learned that nobody besides Cassandra can pull out the Sword of Beowulf from its scabbard and that she cannot maintain her hold on it for too long and cannot pull it out without being ordered to do so. Cerise Orielle and Carol Ferris have not been tested to see if they can wield it.
It is probably just as well if we don't hand it to Cerise.
We need to study the sword. And we need it to NOT be Cerise who studies the sword. Rebecca has a project.
[ ] [Mercy] Coach Rose on the responsibilities of her position
Roll 18
Mercy knew how to get to Rose. While she was some kind of supersoldier thanks to experiments on her dad, Rose was still just a teenage girl with a penchant for violence at the end of the day. And the Graves family had plenty of experience dealing with those. As such she managed to break things down for Rose and engaged with her. Mercy liked her little mini-me and was confident that she could get Rose to value what she had set up. By the time she was done coaching her Rose had become far more loyal to LexCorp and understood just what was expected of her and how not to disappoint Lex while still being able to enjoy herself.
Results: Rose Lex coop score +0.1
Ahh, very good!
I should write an omake featuring some quality time with Rose, Mercy, and Mercy's great-aunt Mildred who lives on the Eastern Shore.
Mildred makes a fine role model for a girl like Rose, if you ask me.
[ ] [Pam] Teach Katherine about Botany
Roll 16
Pamela enjoyed spending time with her significant other. She wasn't sure quite how to feel when Katherine had asked her out. Still she decided to give it a try and it turned out to be working out amazingly so far. Katherine was so sweet and caring and attentive to Pamela that she couldn't help but feel happy. Her girlfriend was an amazing individual and so the fact that she tried so hard to please Pamela was so different from what she was used to but still fantastic. Pamela's previous relationships had been extremely one sided with her giving herself entirely to the man and them taking her for granted. Katherien tried to engage with Pamela and wanted to do what she could to make her happy. For example, Pamela had tried to teach Katherine about botany. Katherine wasn't particularly skilled at the subject and a lot of the words flew over her head but she never complained about how Pamela would go on and on about some subjects. When Pamela asked why she was so patient with the subject even though she wasn't the most interested in the subject or could quickly grasp it, Katherine calmly responded that she learned about the subject and listened to Pamela patiently because Pamela cared about botany and she cared about Pamela. It was all rather sweet. Katherine would most likely never make a great botanist but she made for an excellent girlfriend and she made Pamela happy.
Awwh.
[ ] [Kane] Try to teach Pamela self-defense
Roll 6
Katherine was worried for her girlfriend. Pamela was beautiful and intelligent but she didn't know how to handle herself in a fight. Metropolis was certainly safer than Gotham but there were still dangers here. As such she tried to teach her girlfriend some self-defense. Turns out this was unneeded. Apparently Pamela had powers now that let her fight on a level normal people could barely compete with. These powers were the culmination of her research at LexCorp. Katherine was a little unsure but after Pamela had demonstrated the uses of her powers Katherine became convinced. With the powers she had gained Pamela was just as safe as Katherine. Apparently her girlfriend was smart beautiful and strong. Katherine idly mused how lucky she was as she went back to work.
Results: Katherine learned of Pamela's powers
Double awwh.
[ ] [Roxy] Try to get Nygma's opinion on who Holiday might be
Roll 17
Roxy was always curious and good old Eddy was apparently both a fan of mysteries and from Gotham. As such she wanted to get his thoughts on the matter. So she called Eddy while he was busy digging up green rocks in the middle of nowhere. Eddy, grateful for the reprieve from the boredom was willing to talk to Roxy and not be constantly condescending. Eddy had two main theories for who he thought it could be, Sofia Gigante, the daughter of Carmine Falcone, and District Attorney Harvey Dent. Frankly Roxy thought that it might be Catwoman but she didn't have much proof for it beyond the fact that the guns left at the crime scene were lighter and thus more commonly used by women. Nygma had mountains of evidence for his theories and had constructed motives for both of his individuals but they'd both have to wait and find out who ultimately was right.
...Gigante.
I can't help but wonder if she married into the real-life
Gigantes.
Surely not.
[ ] [Karl] Mourn
Roll 17
Karl has stayed locked inside of his lab for days on end. The cameras have noted that his productivity is starting to decrease and he is slowly sinking into a deep depression. The lack of results with his work have only further driven him into despair. While mourning is healthy and he has been better since being able to do it he is still not entirely stable.
Oof.
We need to make progress on the project AND get him to a shrink.
[ ] [Cass] Try to get Grumpy-Mustache Man to play the Black-and-White game with her
Roll 9
Cassandra wasn't happy. The Grumpy-Mustache man refused to play the Black-and-White game with her. Cassandra didn't know how to make him feel better. Grumpy-Mustache man didn't want to be himself anymore and it bothered Cassandra. Why would someone not want to be themselves anymore? Sure pretending was nice but it wasn't ok to keep pretending for too long. Otherwise you would fail at games. Cassandra made sure to notify Father about her findings. He was the best at understanding people! Father looked at her with concern but let her know that he was thinking on how to solve the problem. Then he sat down and played the Black-and-White game with her. Cassandra lost but with Father that was ok because he wanted Cassandra to get better and she had managed that. She left the room to find the two headed kitty. He always made her feel better maybe he would make Grumpy-Mustache man feel better.
...Wait, who's grumpy mustache man again. Karl?
[ ] [Loomis] Get a license to carry a gun
Roll 4
Oswald wanted a gun. True he detested the use of force as a way to communicate but sometimes you needed it to get a point across or to defend yourself. As such he sought to get a license to carry a gun. Unfortunately due to the clerk in the government office believing baseless rumors about him Oswald was unable to get his permit officially. That was fine. He could simply create his own methods of self defence. Who needs a gun when you have technology like LexCorp's
Ah shit. We need to get
Loomis to a shrink too.
[ ] [Jinx] Write a short story
Roll 14
Jinx liked writing. Sure she wasn't really good at it but it was fun and it let her get back at the world or express herself in a safe way. Jinx didn't think she was ever going to make a career out of it but she did enjoy it. She ended up finishing her first story, Broken Mirrors, and hoped to get Mari to review it. She wasn't going to show the dumb teacher lady any of what she wrote because then she would get all smug that Jinx actually liked some of the lessons she made her do. Jinx was going to enjoy writing things.
[hug]
[ ] [Carl] Go bowling
Roll 1
Carl hadn't managed to go bowling for a long time. Sure it was a bit of an odd hobby but he still enjoyed it. Unfortunately he was unable to go bowling. Work kept him as busy as always. As such his bowling shoes went unused for yet another long stretch of time.
...What do you want to bet that the next time we have him upgrade our fortifications, he sneaks a bowling alley into LexCorp Headquarters.
[ ] [Nygma] Design Puzzles
Roll 5
Edward Nygma was a regular renaissance man. He could code, craft objects, create elaborate schemes and more. He wasn't just an incredible intellectual, although he certainly was that. No, he was an indubitable mastermind who could effortlessly create a magnum opus in any field he so chose to do so. Edward simply preferred cranial affairs to mundane material ones. In his spare time Edward liked to design puzzles and conundrums. They weren't particularly complicated, they merely required a meticulous mind and an insight into the nuances of objects but when he tried to market them as toys for striplings to exercise their intelligence he was told that they were overly complicated. Edward scoffed. Once again he was dismissed by a bunch of underdeveloped ingrates.
Hm. We should market them for gifted kids.
[ ] [Cerise] Attempt to buy art
Roll 8
Cerise was comfortable in her new home. The apartment in Metropolis was nice enough she supposed but it lacked that touch to truly make it her own. As such she sought to go and buy some art to liven up the place a bit. Unfortunately none of the nearby dealers had anything to interest her. It was mostly just modern drivel and photographs. As such she ended up exactly where she started.
Hmmm. A taste for classical artwork, perhaps?
[ ] [Cub] Figure out if the Not-Human's are multiplying (attempt to spy on Rebecca Cerise and Mari)
Roll 3
Janus was on a mission. He had to figure out why there were so many Not-Humans in his home. Then the small human came in and gave him neck scritches and meat and he decided he didn't need to investigate just yet. First he had to make sure that his packmate knew that he approved of the neck scritches and meat. Janus purred happily. After he informed his packmate about how good of a job taking care of the alpha in the pack would he go investigate what was going on.
Awww.
It has been a while since most of our hero's are working in a field they are happy with
I have an idea for Riddler if we run out of exploration action or he wants to do something inside, or a personal action
Have him work with Oswald to make a series of puzzles and toys for children to play with and solve, LexCorp can use them for kid friendly programming or to start for civilian products.
That is actually a good idea, since Oswald and Nygma get along well.
