The Night

"Mr. Luthor, we have arrived" Mercy says as she parks the car near Lionel's summer home "I noticed" said Lex sarcastically take in a breath he says "Stay in the car this won't take long" Mercy nods Lex takes his folder and makes for the front door while admiring the night sky.

He is let in and is informed that he can find Lionel in his study thanking the butler, he is not disappointed there he is as imposing ever with a glass in one hand and the other an award he didn't deserve, he turns and see's Lex "Ah the prodigal son returns at last how was the business trip" looking at him all you might see is a father honestly pleased to see his son return but Lex know that was just a mask a facade at least he can say he learned something useful from the man daring to call himself his father without acting like one. Sometimes I wonder is he a worse father or worse husband something to think about I suppose.

"The trip was pointless you should have sent someone else, it was a waste of my time which I could have use for more in important things,"

Lionel just sips his drink not caring in the slightest "Is this all you wanted to talk about so you could whine in that case I will need more alcohol" he places the award down on the desk refills his drink.

"No that was not why I call you for," he puts the folder on the desk takes out some paper and showing them to Lionel "I want to ask you do you honestly think I wouldn't find out," Lionel takes the paper scrolls though them and scuff at it "So what people go missing all the time why do you care did your heart suddenly grow three sizes and now you care about those beneath you,"

"No my heart didn't grow what I care about though is this would be bad PR for the company if they found out that the boss is murdering his employees and do you want to know the worst part is you were sloppy some employees fear you might strangle them but I guess that comes with old age?,"

Lionel turn around furious backhands him "How dare you speak to me like that I thought I disciplined you better guess I was wrong,"

Lex wiped his face and smiled "Disciplined me you had to be there for that instead of shipping me off to boarding school and the few times you were there you only taught me one thing and that was how to hate now back to the reason I came here,"

Lionel turn away in disgust "It matters not they are replaceable everyone is replaceable even you Lex," as Lionel says this, he makes eye contact with Lex "there are hundreds if not thousands who would throw them self's at my feet to become my heir don't forget Lex this is my company I built it and I will do with it as I damn wish,"

Lex still keeping eye contact says "Was mother replaceable too" Lionel eye widen and then chuckles to himself "So this was the real reason you wanted this meeting, so what you finally got the courage to face your old man come to tell me I am awful father, do you think I care the answer is no now get out I don't want to see your face anymore every time I see your face I am remanded of that scared little boy crying into mommy's shirt and saying how the other children were make fun of your bald head you were and still are pathetic" Lionel turns and walks away he doesn't see Lex going for the award on the desk the first hit Lionel didn't feel the pain yet more shock than anything really he touched his scalp his fingers were bloody he tries to say "Lex what-" but it cut of the second hit falling to his knees than the third on his back and the fourth the killing blow fifth through seventh was just to be sure.

Lex get up makes a drink for himself "You always know how to push my buttons didn't you" afterwards he got his flip phone out and called Mercy to come to the study.

Mercy arrives and is witness to Mr. Luther calmly drinking while on the floor laying what was Lionel Luthor in a pool of blood.

"Ah, Mercy you're here you want to know what's funny," Lex point at Lionel "He cut the breaks of his fathers' car so he can get the life insurance which he used to later create the company now my company I suppose and now I killed my father will my son kill me too I wonder," Lex chuckles to himself

"Mr. Luthor-" Mercy tries to say but is cut off "Stop that Mercy just call me Lex and be frank with me "Lex says "Very well Lex you won't have to worry about your future kids if you know treat them right like normal people" Lex continues drinking

"Lex are there anyone else in the house?" Mercy questions, Lex shakes his head "No only the butler, Lionel wanted someplace away from people, everyone who works here has to commute and you not need to worry about the butler for three reasons one I will pay him more than Lionel does two I am more stable than Lionel and the last but the most important one is that he values the safety of his children and has been around Luther's long enough to know not to cross us and besides we need an eyewitness to tell my true so Mercy would you be so kind and take Lionel body and make it look like an accident" Lex said

"Lex you can count on me" Mercy says. Lex smiles and walks to the window admiring the night sky while behind him his father's body is being dragged away, he turns to Mercy and says "oh be careful of the carpet" Mercy just stare at him "Of course Lex" Lex smiles and thinks to himself I should really give Mercy a raise one of these days.

??? has foiled your plans once.
What plans of ours has been foiled? I don't think we've gotten up to anything much yet for it to even be called Foiled.
We really could have avoided this had we went for the option to try and recruit the assassins, because if that option succeeded, then our mystery mastermind wouldn't have had the opportunity to murder the assassins in prison and make it look like we knew about the League of Shadows.
Do we not? I mean, we did break them to the point of revealing the name of their hide out. I was completley convinced that it was, in fact, us who sent that message.

It's important to know if that wasn't us, then we'd know, IC, there is in fact someone else playing us here. Ra's wouldn't write himself a message after all.

Huh, I wasn't familiar with the "New" version of Luthor who inherited the company. I thought we were the Luthor that grew up in the Suicide Slums, and cut HIS father's brakes and used the insurance to make the company.

I think instead of pushing Space, we should use this interview to draw attention to the LexCo Prosthetics. They did get overshadowed by the L-Phone, and a lot harder for Lois to act like fully-functional prosthetics are a bad thing. Like, is she really going to act like people with missing or malformed limbs don't want new ones?

@Erumpet: Given LexCorp actually did make revolutionary prosthetics that are equally as functional as normal human limbs, we probably should draw attention to it. Space is something too far off in the future for anyone in-universe to take seriously.

Otherwise yeah, covering L-Phones and the Environment are good points. Remind Lois that we seriously revolutionized society in just three months, draw attention to Pamela's genius, and when Lois inevitably doubts we're going green- immediately prove her wrong with Turn 3.

I figure the murder hobo who killed the assassins is Deathstroke, Merlyn, or Nyssa. You'd need to haveknowledge of the inner workings and current objectives, a reason to piss off Ra's, and be a killer.

i think it's Lady Shiva or Vandal Savage, and deathstoke is just a mercenary now

Okay I see a lot of grammer errors. Particularly very little capitalizations, commas, periods in conversations. If you want someone to be cut off mid conversation add (-) like this "Alright Mr. Lut-" Like what I did in Money Does Grow on Trees Omake. In short, add more capital letters, commas, periods.

Lessons with Lex
Lessons with Lex
Contrary to what some intrepid, yet biased, reporters might believe, Lex cared for his employees. He knew every one of his employees' faces, their names, their family members, and their relevant skills off the top of his head. Admittedly, not a difficult thing for the smartest man in the world to do, but it still was something he took the time from his incredibly busy schedule to do. Because Lex cared about his employees much like a king would care about his subjects and how a particularly effective king would know each of his subjects' strengths and weaknesses.

So, when Lex learned of the Assassin situation from his ever dependable right hand woman, Lex knew that she would assign the task of interrogation to Alex Gibbons and Dave Moore, who had training in interrogation techniques and worked under his father's reign of (then) LuthorCorp. His father was very different from Lex, being a man of rage and brutal thuggery who ruled by fear and money rather than the healthy mix of loyalty, fear, and self-interest that Lex preferred to cultivate. Lex had once seen his father choke an employee to death for truthfully reporting that the employee had failed at an assignment. Inefficient and inelegant- it would just cause future employees to avoid telling him the truth. No wonder it was so easy to get rid of the older Luthor.

But, Lex was disappointed when, a week later, Gibbons and Moore had gotten nowhere. When Mercy came in with her usual saunter and told him the news, Lex hadn't gotten angry. He'd asked for their session to be piped into his office and watched. Their technique was good...it just was something that wouldn't work on the pure fanatics that the assassins were for this...Ra's al Ghul? Lex knew what had to be done. Should this be a teaching opportunity? The question was the loyalty of his own men.

"Gibbons and Moore. How loyal are they?"

Mercy looked at the display of her two men interrogating the assassins. Then nodded.

"They're loyal, Lex. They helped clean-up the bodies of the Assassins who didn't make it, even the one in the elevator. Not a peep to their families, the press, or the police. And, they were here when your father was running things- not a word from them at that time, too."

Lex didn't move for a moment before he got up.

"I think it's time that we had a word with our guests, don't you think? And...bring plenty of ammunition."

Mercy just smiled.

When Lex entered the interrogation room, he saw the widened eyes of surprise and fear in his employees, and the angry glares of their captives. He understood both- failure wasn't something that Lex took kindly from himself or from others.

"Have you gotten anything from the prisoners?" Lex asked, already knowing the answer.

And then, Alan Gibbons began to try and lie to Lex. And this...annoyed...him. Did his employee think that his employer, a man who revolutionized an industry in a few months, was an idiot? Or, did his employee think that he didn't have the maturity to take the failure of an employee? Did Alan Gibbon think Lex Luthor was anything like his father?

That last thought got under Lex's skin, and angered him a bit. More than a bit. Angered him enough that Lex actually raised his voice and highlighted the extent of his employee's failure. Enough so that a small insult from his captive caused Lex to pull out a gun and shoot the captive in the head.

Which, Lex immediately regretted. Because it was a waste of another potential source of information. Lex took a deep breath and looked at Alan Gibbons and noted the fear and surprise in Gibbon's eyes. But, not disloyalty and anger. Good.

Now, to get back to why Lex was here: to teach his employee the correct way to interrogate a fanatic. Because, Lex cared for his employees.

"This is how you interrogate fanatics. It'll get you information in ten minutes that a week failed to get you..."

Nice omake, nothing to criticize.

I think that Lex might realize that there is a third party that is trying to start a conflict between himself and Ra's al Ghul. The Assassins stated they worked for him and, most importantly, the blood message.

"Ra's al Ghul, no more hiding in the shadows"

is different thant "No more hiding in the shadows- Ra's al Ghul".

It is a message to Ra's al Ghul not from. So, Lex could realize that a party is trying to get Ra's al Ghul to blame him for the murders and try to get him to blame Ra's al Ghul for the assassination attempt. Lex does have an intrigue of 21, after all.

I was completley convinced that it was, in fact, us who sent that message.

It's not you. The plan that was foiled was turning them into the authorities (you got framed in a very convincing manner).

[ ] Secretly fund radical environmentalists. It is good to have them on your side to both avoid them interfering with LexCorps projects and to unleash their wraith on rival companies or unfriendly governments

Dirty deeds done dirt cheap covers this through a subvotes.

I probably have an Intrigue of 5 and even I still got that this is a false flag without needing to know of Ra's perspective.

So, when Lex learned of the Assassin situation from his ever dependable right hand woman, Lex knew that she would assign the task of interrogation to Alex Gibbons and Dave Howler, who had training in interrogation techniques and worked under his father's reign of (then) LuthorCorp.

But, Lex was disappointed when, a week later, Gibbons and Howler had gotten nowhere.

"Gibbons and Howler.

I initially planned to name the characters Alan Gibbons and Dave Moore but other than that this is golden as an omake. Could you please change the name? You are still getting a Canon omake and 500 exp no matter what I just want to keep my references within the story intact.

@King crimson i did some edit on my omake but i am really tired right now so i will hopeful fix the rest later side-note i have 1000 exp now i am putting it all in Anthony's Learning making it 29 to 30.

@King crimson we have vandal savage what about his enemy the immortal man and also the Linear Men time cops

[ ] realistic holograms'

Edit we have hell what about heaven after all wasn't there an actual angel on the justice league in Grant Morrison run
The immortal man is not around (I personally think Vandal works better as a justice league villain). The Linear Men do exist (in a fashion) but because they are from the future you can butterfly who the protectors of the time continuum are. Furthermore they only protect the future from someone pulling things from the past rather than trying to prevent someone from altering history (due to the rules of time travel that anything in the past has already happened altering history cannot truly be done).

There is a heaven (the Spectre is a thing) but it is very subtle and works in mysterious ways. You'll have a lot easier of a time finding Hell messing with stuff than you will find with heaven.

It's not you. The plan that was foiled was turning them into the authorities (you got framed in a very convincing manner).
... We were? That seems like a terrible way to frame us. If we wanted the men dead, turning them over to the police to THEN kill them is the worst way to go about doing it. We should easily prove our innocence by pointing out, quite truthfully, we would have absolutely nothing to gain in killing them in this manner. If the sole goal was to deliver a message, rendering that scene in an alley way would have been just as effective with nothing to link the assassins to us.

What's more, that proves to us that there is a 3rd party here wanting to incite a war. Ras would not include his name if it was written to us, after all.

I might have used the word framed wrong. Someone managed to make it look like you killed the assassins in captivity in such a way that indicated you knew about Ra's all along and we're challenging him. ??? was deliberately trying to start a war between you and Ra's and has for the most part succeeded. Killing them in police custody ensured that it would be broadcasted by the news asap (leaving them in an alley would cause a time delay) and thus Ra's would swiftly receive the message.

The goal of ??? with the killing and the message was not to fool the public (they still don't know what's going on) but to fool Ra's (in which they have succeeded in making him think you were responsible and are calling him out).

You also lost any bonus turning them in might have given to your reputation with the authorities since the assassins were killed before the police could actually do anything with the prisoners.

Now our timetable for buying out the city & politicians just moved up, need a large PR spin to bury this mess. Good thing we got 400 lawyers to throw around.

Maybe we should consider running for president, it muddies the water and it's a PR generator.
