Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

Also reminder, we are cultivators.
If you see an Azoth stage cultivator walking around with a fishing pole, you can be damn sure he'd beat the demon king with it.
Mortals not considering something a weapon means nothing to a cultivator.

I object to the idea that Ling Qi would have straight up died against the bats when she didn't even bother to use some of her own techniques. Sure, with Meizhen the fight was a cakewalk. But that doesn't mean it automatically goes the other way against Ling Qi. It also doesn't mean that she couldn't stealth her way through another approach to the encounter—the main reason she didn't wasn't because we didn't think she could, but because people didn't want to leave Meizhen.

I wont say never. But I do think that having 2 unlvled attack arts are no good.
Rise FSA as high as it will go for our cultivation lvl and I am fine with another attack art...

Sad sadness. People don't get that ASA goes with a fourth letter: P :p

As I said before, we can keep pushing it without making a big deal of it, and once our Lava Tortoise hatches and we start getting fire bonuses (which I suspect will include discounts on the use of fire techniques rather then merely bonus dice to cultivate)... well, it will start looking appealing even to the doubters.

I don't mind getting another attack art in the future, but it should be when we have time to actually train an art and when we actually need an art - and not merely where we get our first look at sample arts and decide that we HAVE to have two of them simultaneously.

We don't really have enough arts that we're practicing now though. It makes art days inefficient. We should always have three arts to work on, and I don't count Argent Mirror because it's leveling itself.

Basically this. @yrsillar did a great job of making 4 extremely attractive arts, but we shouldn't be blinded by how good they look to forget everything else we are doing. We are a bit of a in a crunch time almost all the time, and it's better to just take as little 'new action drains' as possible. I'd argue the same about tutoring btw: I would rate 'exploring' actions as much higher on the priority lists than them, and while they are a bit of the new info we just got, that doesn't mean we have to rush for them either.

Action economy is a painful thing, but a thing all the same. Hopefully we'll be able to put Physical/Spiritual on the backburner once they hit late and that should free us for focusing on arts a lot more, especially as by that time we'll have enough sect points to be able to know how third floor/second floor work, and how upgrade arts work, so we can make measured choices.

The goal is to be just barely strong enough to do everything we want to do extremely well, as "being overlevelled" doesn't get us anything but is instead a waste of time compared to increasing things at the right time.

In all of one week, when we hit Mid Yellow, we will have three arts to work on.

(Also, Art days only need to be a thing when we have decent Art medicines, which we currently have precisely one of, not counting the Sable Light Pill).

...I'm kind of agog people aren't pretty much already calling it on Xuan Shi being the guy who set Ling Qi up to be framed and punished, because it seems kind of obvious to me.

He pretty clearly was the one to punish Ji Rong in a way that sets back the guy's cultivation big-time and while it's possible that Lady Cai explicitly told him how to punish the guy I'm guessing that if the punishment was super-official she'd either send Gan Guangli or do it herself. Xuan Shi didn't really seem to be hers at the prior meeting, if you will, he seems to have his own agenda. Yes, he said 'how dare you offend Lady Cai'. But that may have been so Lady Cai couldn't object.

And yes, Ji Rong's punishment in itself wasn't really against the rules. But you can bet your ass if Ji Rong wasn't in good odor the other powerhouses in the Outer Sect would give the hairy eyeball to someone who 'not-cripples' their enemies in a way that seriously prevents them from competing in that way.

So then we investigate and- lo and behold! Ling Qi is guilty of breaking Lady Cai's rules too- that evil little peasant- oh wait we're Ling Qi. Um. Awkward. Wait, this is a HIGHLY SOPHISTICATED FORMATIONS-BASED ROBOT? Well, gee, I don't know what sort of formations prodigy would be capable of producing something like this. Presumably somebody who wants to sabotage the competition, perhaps somebody looking to compete for those eight Inner Sect slots who doesn't feel confident they can just flatten their way through the competition by brute force.

Someone like Xuan Shi.

Now, Ling Qi hasn't done anything to offend him. Ji Rong hadn't really done anything to personally offend him, only maybe-sorta offend Lady Cai if the guy taking bribes wasn't Robo Ji Rong. But Ji Rong was in his way, and Ling Qi is most definitely in his way if he wants to get into the Inner Sect via combat rather than production. For that matter, if Xuan Shi has ambitions, it's entirely possible that Lady Cai is also in his way, and making some powerful and dangerous people the victims of her misplaced 'justice' is part of a plan to take her down.

Four, if we include AM. We really don't need more art for 'Art Week', especially if we get ZB+. We already arguably have too many arts as we need for optimal training, but that obviously doesn't actually mean much.

Oh no, you misunderstand. We, or at least I am incredibly suspicious of Xuan Shi and am conscious of how this whole affair brings Ji Rong's punishment into question. It's just that, well, we've got an enraged Cai Renxiang following up on this so aside from bringing up our own suspicions there's very little for us to actually do. We've got our own fires to put out right now.

Edit: And of course, there's the matter of the Archive Pass, something that Xuan Shi would desire greatly, and it wouldn't have been too difficult to misdirect Ling Qi into thinking he wasn't reading actual cultivation texts. That is of course contingent on the fact that said 'misdirection' occured in an omake. If Xuan Shi wishes to go the combat route the arts within would be invaluable to support his considerable Formations knowledge.

Ji Rong makes for an easy mark for a frame up, or even an unreasonable exaggeration of actual rule breaking.
