Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

Does anyone currently voting for FSA want both arts? Because if so, tell you what. I'm willing to make a deal with you.

If at least one person switches from FSA to ASA and pings me in response to this, I will commit to turning my vote and what influence I have in this thread to making sure we get FSA from the archive in the next couple of weeks. If two people switch, I will do you one better and commit to making sure we get FSA literally next week.

Come-on. Anyone interested in some compromise?

Sure.

@PrimalShadow

... ruining the beautiful tie.

HA HA! I've been waiting for this!

[X] Ashen Shadow Art

I've been considering for a while jumping ship anyway. Plus, I hate coin flips. I'm fine with both anyway.

Going to be honest I am not really interested because I don't really care which of these arts win. They are all great arts that are held by a powerful sect. The order in which we get these arts matters little to me.

I think you made the right decision. If your posts are just going to be justifications, it seems like you'd be coming at things from the wrong direction, ie. Make decision first, then look for evidence.

The entire point of looking into things before you make a decision is to make a better decision. Making decisions and than looking for evidence is something that weakens the end result. In fact it can lead to logical fallacies.

(it begs the question, reinterpreting the evidence to fit its conclusion rather than forming its conclusion on the basis of the evidence).

I don't care what you do but don't encourage others to only look for evidence of what they want to win when they are trying to put together a pro's and con's sheet for all of the options, because I need those sheets to help me decide things.

Do you dislike happiness or fun Alectai? Do you stand against the path of inadvertently messing with our BFF?

Please do not actively taunt the person attempting to pull out of an argument.

You joke, but it really is toxic.
.[/SPOILER]

Maybe you should also step away from the thread and cool down.

I mean only one of these options ends in combat split kicks that give Meizhen nose bleeds- there's really only one option here.

So, basically, if I understood right, taking FSA means that we lose 13 pill dice, right? While we can get ASA, use those dice, and then get FSA in a couple turns?

...

The optimizer in me is crying.

So is the child's soul, because holy shit ash constructs are cool as fuck.
Not taking Ice Wraith is straight up losing 4 dice and 5 auto-successes every training session alongside Wind's lower mastery requirement so I have no idea what you're crying about. Your optimizer is already dead in the water.

Your argument is shit. First, punching people is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY for a cultivator. If we do not get an attacking art we will die!

Second, I really don't appreciate you categorizing a well explained, fully fleshed out needed acquisition as a "shiny". Quite frankly, you can piss right the hell off with that.

Third, fetch quest? Stopping at a level? What quest have you been playing? If anything, we're going as fast as is physically possible.

Fourth, bullying Ling Qi? Really? The players that want to get an attack art are just as much in control as you. So, again, you and your derisive attitude towards anyone that disagrees with you can take a long walk off a short pier.

Calm down soon or you'll get yourself in trouble. You're making personal attacks and using foul language in an insulting manner, Which is clearly violating the rules if Sufficient Velocity, and I don't appreciate you stinking up the thread with your toxicity.

Take some time to yourself and take a breather. You need it.

Eh, actually, if you consider the name and the text, the idea seems to suggest that you have a second shadow, and it is made out of ash. It might leave trails of ash, but the ash left behind elsewhere (if not evaporated into free random Qi) is not the ash that is going to be used in the attacks.

A melee art which converts the users qi into a trailing shadow of ash

That would make it even worse then. The shadow would trail us so for to hit people with the debuff we would need to be in melee.

Which is a terrible position for us, but apparently Sun Liling build and ours are very similar and a downgraded version of her arts is exactly what we want, after all we always run to the ennemy to punch them in the face. :V

The only way for ASA to be competitive (for me) is if at higher level we can use it to make bows or musical instrument. But then a dedied wood art would probably be better, anyway ...

ASA is melee. We do not want to be in melee.

@yrsillar How would the trail of ashe work, exactly? Would we need to move around to spread it or is everyone around us going to be hit by the ashes?

For the record if Ashen Shadow Art wins I'll tentatively* support opening the necessary meridians to keep it equipped, and more importantly at least one arm for FSA next week. The following week I'll support getting the art plus the remaining meridian, and for the record the only reason I'm reluctant to do it entirely next week is efficiency towards spiritual/physical cultivation, therefore if someone can come up with a clever plan to include those I'd support it.

*As in I'll vote for it unless something serious comes up.

Please stop. Your posts are only ever angry.

What is it with everyone misreading me today? That is literally the opposite of what I've said. I'm really getting sick of this. What am I doing wrong that people aren't understanding me, and are then taking the worst interpretation they can?

If you carefully reread what @Seventeen wrote and what he was responding to, you'll find that he was not only aware of this, but also actively recommending against making decisions before considering the evidence.

These are clearly two different scenarios. We lose the 13 dice rolls because we are going to end up with both arts in the end no matter which we choose first. We don't lose the 9 dice because we were never going to get Ice Wraith.

Eh. Putting a rant in a spoiler is pretty close to stepping away to cool down.

not really it's better then Hangwind but I didn't see his post until after he had posted but it's still the equivalent of putting a big red button that says do not push in front of someone you know will push it.

Here is the problem: against fast opponents, we will be anyways. Look how Jelly Gal and Bifauxnen closed the distance with us.

May I interest you in an art that will disrupt their movement, then ?

[] Falling Stars Art
Yang, Heaven/Wind
Arm x2
Physical
An archery art which wraps the users shots with the currents of the sky and infuses them with the wrathful light of the heavens. Pierces through defenses and disrupts enemy movement and Qi. 5 levels

disrupts enemy movement

Like this one?

My bad, I meant 4 dice 5 auto successes.

That doesn't help the matter. We have no natural affinity with water, only wind, and our 'best' elemental site only grants 5 water dice, not auto-successes. We have 3 dice for fire, but both sites pale before the Celestial site's sites bonuses anyways.

We have water pills, but we should get pills for our 'new' elements next time we update shopping anyways.

God dammit people. Have you ever participated in a quest? There's no way in hell that the thread will manage to avoid distractions long enough to be willing to come back for FSA. Worse, even if we do, @yrsillar will offer several options again and this same anti-attack coalition will band together again to grab something else.

Well, I'm not exactly switching...

[X] Ashen Shadow Art

I'm less than convinced that not picking FSA will turn us all into suicidal lemmings. I agree that starting at high range only played a part in a minority of situations thus far. More importantly, not taking shots of opportunity will be a shame, but having low personal defenses is far more damming. I'd have preferred Ice Wraith, but what can you do?
