Ahh. Yeah that. Now I remember. Hmm.
What's the thread's running theory on our unique talent? Besides Diplo+ with Spirits?
My old theory, based on our ??? breakthrough bonus was that every completely mastered art with a different elemental focus would let us get -10 xp and some sort of bonus xp to any skill it was associated with.
Given Ling Qi's absurd proficiency with the bow, I think it might actually be the Cloud Nomad racial trait, whatever that is. I still want at least one art completely mastered that isn't air though, just to see if my old theory has any merit to it.
What I'm confused by, is that if she's ethnically a "barbarian" then people would notice and most likely insult her accordingly. But nobody comments on Ling Qi's ridiculous height and her dark skin (which is not very common considering we don't know any other dark-skinned imperial citizens so far).
Well if she is descended from the Cloud Nomads then we have a big in to Trolololol Flight strats which are like, "I want so bad I will literally give a kidney" levels of want for me.My old theory, based on our ??? breakthrough bonus was that every completely mastered art with a different elemental focus would let us get -10 xp and some sort of bonus xp to any skill it was associated with.

Right now, most of our information on the Cloud Nomads comes from @Humbaba's omake in which case that ??? bonus might let us master shamanism, give us a bonus to preparing spirit beasts as food, give us bonus rapport to any spirit beast that's a bird and so on and so forth.
Old theory wouldn't make sense since we had darkness mastered, right? At least for its cultivation level.

I don't believe in the cloud nomad theory, though it's not impossible. I think the "like the wind" really does mean something though, but possibly that our dad was a wind spirit or something?Old theory wouldn't make sense since we had darkness mastered, right? At least for its cultivation level.
Re: Cloud Nomad - Well, our mom did say "as the wind," which I thought was an interesting choice of words. She's being coy though. Might not be able to learn what's up until we see our mom in person (so after the year is up).
I'm thinking that while it's not because of it, for our breakthrough to green we'll need at least a wind art and a ranged weapon sufficiently trained if we don't want that trait to degrade. My old theory, based on our ??? breakthrough bonus was that every completely mastered art with a different elemental focus would let us get -10 xp and some sort of bonus xp to any skill it was associated with.
Do we know if the Birdy is big enough to ride though? When this originally went down, I pointed out that Zephyr's Breath was the only art we mastered to completion. I still consider it a semi-plausible possibility, but not as interesting as the Cloud Nomad heritage.
There is a Crimsonwing Condor that's harassing people on the Job Board.![]()
Love the idea of spirit ancestry, might explain our apparent affinity for them, but with learning from Su Ling that it means having to subsist on cores at the very most we could only be distantly related I think. Maybe her dad was some random blue eyed wind focussed cultivator or she's just spirit touched? I do want to try and fit in more wind arts to see if that helps us explore this trait though.I don't believe in the cloud nomad theory, though it's not impossible. And yeah, we also had darkness mastered, and it's not like ZB was "completely mastered" either given it's just an art divided too.

If we want it to evolve further, we probably want a wind art mastered to peak yellow/Silver and a ranged weapon trained to 6.

@Codex - Well... Guangli has dark skin too, right?
We are still 20-30cm taller than the next tallest person in the sect though right? ;_;Yeah he does. There are a fairly large fraction of folks in Emerald sea with Ling Qi's darker coloring.

Wasn't that before our growth at silver?Han Jian is specifically noted to be taller than us. It's one of the things that drew Ling Qi to him at first.
That was just Ling Qi trying to lie to herself. We all know she is still much taller than Han Fang Gan Guangli. Minimum height is the nice Ice lady we just met.Han Jian is specifically noted to be taller than us. It's one of the things that drew Ling Qi to him at first.

Pale skin is probably more common in the interior provinces and is considered "Lady-like" i.e beauty standards.I knew Guangli was a Gamagoori expy, but I don't think his skin color was ever mentioned, so I assumed he was white like everybody else (that we knew).
Oh well, that was informative. It still confuses me why Ling Qi's mother says her skin is "too dark" if it's common? Like I wouldn't think dark skin is an unattractive feature, and it's apparently common, so what's the issue?
The answer to: How tall is Guangli? Taller than you.
Like muscles on women dark skin was often viewed negatively because it suggested that they had to toil in the sun to get that complexion/physical fitness i.e. they were commoners and labourers. Ladies were meant to be frail and doll like. Not really sure why it (or if it does) apply to cultivators but as a seemingly highclass prostitute Ling Qingge would likely care about that.I knew Guangli was a Gamagoori expy, but I don't think his skin color was ever mentioned, so I assumed he was white like everybody else (that we knew).

Nein. Muscles of some description are holy things on the female body.
Oh lookie in before the thread mark! She did not really feel like dealing with a possible ambush from her fellow disciples tonight, so, sending the nectar into her ring, Ling Qi turned away and began to pick her way down the cliffs in the opposite direction from whence she had came. She had to assume any potential attackers weren't incompetent, so it was likely that they would at least find the start of her trail if she returned the way she came. The tunnel was out for obvious reasons as well. Besides, it would allow her to poke around the mountain for interesting things.
Event Roll 29
Ling Qi began her meandering descent, her sense of urgency having faded with the acquisition of the nectar, as long as she delivered it by noon she would be fine. It was actually rather relaxing, now that the snow was no longer coming down so hard, and the wind was no longer so driven. It was… tranquil. That wasn't to say she found her path completely unimpeded, but there was nothing that troubled her too much. She managed to shoot down afew more minor buzzards, and once found herself standing off with a silvery white mountain lion, who eventually seemed to decide that she was too tough a bone to chew.
She noted a few interesting things, like a herd of shaggy grade one mountain goats that might make for good hunting with Han Jian and the others, and a few places where plants she vaguely remembered hearing Su Ling talk about grew. She didn't bother collecting them now, as she would probably just forget about them and have them lose their freshness, even if she did manage to harvest them correctly.
+2 Grade 1 cores
She really was a greedy girl, feeling put out that she hadn't managed to find anything of real interest when she had already had a fortuitous encounter tonight. Ling Qi shook her head in bemusement at her thoughts as she carefully hopped across another ravine, her dress fluttering in the mountain winds.
It was beginning to warm up a little as she worked her way back down toward the treeline, and Ling Qi was glad for it. Even if she wasn't harmed by it, she was still soaked and cold, and would look forward to a nice warm bath when she got home. However, as she descended back into the frosted conifers that grew in this part of the mountain, she found that she had some luck after all.
Working her way through the trees, she had found a wide clearing atop a raised plateau, where soft grass and hardy wildflowers, apparently resistant to the cold grew. The light of the moon and stars seemed especially bright here
Starlit Meadow: +5 to Heaven, Sun and Moon Art cultivation. One fifth of successes added to qi cultivation.
Unfortunately, it seemed she wasn't the only one here. No, while she had explored the meadow, her instincts and senses had picked up the approach of heavy and numerous footfalls, allowing her to slip away and hide in time. What she saw chilled her joy at the find. It seemed the meadow was home to a rather large pack of Rimefur wolves. She counted at least fifteen wolves, all grade two in the group that entered the clearing. There was also a rather a pair of larger specimens, closer to the size of a horse than a wolf among them. One a heavily scarred and thickly muscled beast with blue white fur, and the other slightly smaller and sleeker, with black fur flecked with white. Her art could not read cultivation exactly… but she got the impression from their qi that they were not exactly far from grade three.
She didn't think she could take this group, not alone, and that was only confirmed when she found herself locking eyes with the smaller of the alpha pair. She fled at top speed shortly thereafter, blending with the darkness as the incensed howls of the wolfpack followed her down the mountain. Thankfully, Ling Qi was as fleet as a mountain wind, and was able to escape with the aid of her arts, even if it was rather taxing on her qi, forcing her to use a wellspring pill just in case.
-1 Wellspring Pill
It was the better part of an hour before they finally stopped chasing her, and her legs burned from the exertion. She had definitely been put through her paces when it came to speed tonight. She was glad enough to return to the more civilized part of the mountain after that, and head home for that bath. She exchanged greetings with Bai Meizhen, who was seated at their table staring at a block of clay as if it had personally offended her somehow, and then settled in for the night. In the morning, she took the time to cash in the common cores she had found. They were fairly low quality and she still wasn't great at harvesting, so she only managed to get five stones for each. Still, it wasn't bad, oddly, there seemed to be a rumor going around that a a dozen odd disciples had come limping into the medical hall early as one group, with nasty badly bleeding wounds. She wondered what was up with that?

She supposed it had nothing to do with her. It was time to start preparing for the next week.
