Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

Sorry but I don't think so...
I believe trying to sell the vent location without having a second one or Li Suyin and Su ling being stronger has a really high chance to go wrong
Except we have Meizhen? We shared the location of the vent with specifically so that she'd be with us to stop people (Huang Da for instance) from preventing us using the vent? Heck it's entirely possible that Suyin and Su Ling will agree with you after we bring it up and we'll instead go hunting together for another vent we can sell/rent out.

no. educate yourself

Also, this is a completely nonsensical claim. Slang for what exactly? you tried to dismiss his entire argument by the claim that he dared to use the invalid (according to you) rhetorical tool of "scare quotes". which he didn't. He used normal quotes
From the very first link

"Scare quotes, shudder quotes,[1][2] or sneer quotes[3][4][5][excessive citations] are quotation marks placed around a word or phrase to signal that a term is being used in a non-standard, ironic, or otherwise special sense"

That's exactly what he did.

Exactly, that is the correct definition.

He didn't use scare quotes, he used regular quotes. You can tell because it was neither a single word nor a phrase.
It was a complete sentence and a full sized argument. Scare quotes don't work that way, that was just normal quotes.

I am glad you are at least no longer confusing the phrase "scare quotes" and "slang". Good job on learning the difference
That's exactly what he did.
No, I already explained to you. He quoted a full sentence, not a single phrase. It was neither a singular word nor an idiomatic phrase (while technically you can have phrases which are not idioms, those are typically not susceptible to scare quotes; and regardless it doesn't matter because he used a full sentence and not a singular phrase). and as such it is impossible for it to be scare quotes.

Oh my God. The noble group does not give a shit about our other friends. The only reason they'll not just up and take the vent for themselves is us. The sheer amount of hostility this will generate is incredibly obvious. Do not hint about the vent to anybody, for fucks sake.
Mmmh, if Han Jian was that type of person... I doubt he'd offer a random commoner girl that approached him in class a tutoring on how to actually unlock her Qi. Xiulan, Fan Yu, and Han Fang clearly take directions from him, and probably do not want to disappoint him.

The only way that I can reasonably see that he would turn around and try to push Su Ling and Suyin off is somehow the duo is harming the ones he is supposed to lead, or somehow bring harm to his home region. He is trying to be a leader, and a good leader. But Su Ling and Suyin are not barbarian horde at the gate.

Is winning a spot to Inner Circle worth such drastic change in mindset? Probably, if it is only offered once a lifetime. But the spots at Inner Circle are offered every year, 16 spots, 8 martial, 8 production.

It's not like it is the end of the world if he or his cohorts failed to get entry in the first year. Will that stop them from trying their best and stacking their deck? Definitely not, but probably not something that he'd burn bridges and toss honor for.

Will the relation in the vent be strained? Possibly, but Meizhen herself stated that the vent is a grand prize, and it is something that clearly can be shared.

So far, cultivation at the vent is not done daily, but once weekly. If relationship is too strained, they can go differing days.

Hey, look, Huang Da uses the vent as well, but Ling Qi and company never crosses path with him.

Was the vent diminished by Huang Da perusing it when Ling Qi is not around?

... +shrugs+

Anyway, back to Bai clan, so the scattering was actually the embargo... So, it is not like Meizhen requires political help, but instead requires safety net. Well, Ling Qi's presence has already given her a boon, in form of Cai Ren Xiang's intervention that one time. Then there was the Vent, and possibly SCS help to her own Art...

And I believe most of the plans are going to check on her request, possibly also on the reason why she is looking harried.

Wut.

How the hell did you arrive there? "Because Ling Qi didn't convince them to sell access to their unique advantage over all the others, they'll hate her?" Are you kidding?

They're twitchy, almost paranoid about people they don't know. They really don't want to give possible competitors a leg up, and are probably quite afraid of other people kicking them off the place. Their interest in trying to 'sell' the location is probably less than nil.

Move it around a bit - do you think Ling Qi should sell the vent's location to her competitors? Kang Zihao would be happy to pay some stones up front for the location, I'm sure...

I didn't. I said other people did, and they made their views known, and I need those people if Social Animal is to have a chance.

Argue with them, not me.

Alright, moving on to talk about the far, far future. If we are Late Yellow and Late Silver, will we still have a good shot at being one of the eight to make it through the tournament, or should we shoot for Green/Bronze? Also, because of the crunch in action economy before the tournament, how much are we willing to invest in formations? We are unlikely to become experts in it and I don't see us using it all that much before the tournament.

Speaking about politics and alliances, should we spend any extra actions on trying to create new ties and new alliances, or just maintain the ones we currently have?

I think it depends on the progress the others make during this time period

If we don't ally the Suyin Group and the Jian Group we'll probably have to eventually drop one of them as allies, because we can't afford enough actions to juggle three ally groups. Expanding further is madness.

Welp since my favoured plan seems to have little support I might as well change to the lesser evil

Oh come on what the heck is wrong with Social Animal? We aren't going to have the actions to dedicate to Han Jian's Social Link after this and people won't vote for it anyway. We either eventually merge our allies into one group or drop them because we can't keep running around stretched thin.

The one day thing is just a narrative thing. I believe it was mentioned at one point that we spend more than just the one scene on some actions.
Still didn't see Huang Da. :D

Still, thanks for the info, but I will continue backing the opinion that the Vent is not easily diminished, unless shown in the narratives.

10+ contenders from our year, 4+ from higher years seems a reasonable guess.

Bai, Cai, Liling and Ji Rong will almost certainly be green by then. The higher years will also likely all be green. That's 8 green contenders.

We're not a pure fighter, which means, while we can and should work our specialty to win 1v1 battles, I doubt we'll be reliably punching above our weight class.

So yeah, with 8 as the number of green contenders on the low side, it's fairly unlikely we'll see any shot at a win if we aren't Green.

Of course, it's possible I'm underestimating the breakthrough difficulty, but we could easily ask Meizhen if no one else.

I guess we will have to observe our concurrents.

If/when they begin to break through to green/bronze, then we should do it as well.

Luckily we should have enough contact with them to notice when they get to higher cultivation stages and most certainly when they break through.

However, if this is a single bracket elimination tournament than it is possible that some of the greens would have to fight themselves in order to pass.

Although, the more that I am thinking about it, the more likely it seems to me that the tournament structure is going to differ from a typical single elimination tournament. The sect wants all the people who are the best cultivators in the inner sect, which means that the tournament is probably going to be rigged somehow to allow the people who are green an easy way in. It wouldn't make sense for a sect who had members becoming green and then have to wait another year to try again merely because they had to fight another green. So the brackets might be similar to March Madness, but the cultivator's rank is where they are placed. This would mean that the top cultivator would fight the lowest level cultivator practically ensuring their entrance into the sect.

Or, I could be overthinking it and worrying about something so far down the line that it doesn't really matter to us at this moment.

Or the tournament is the final evaluation and the instructors pick afterwards based largely on performance there.

You don't need to sound so aggrieved. I hadn't even read that vote with its mess of if clauses. My only issue with it compared to the other 2 is that it doesn't actively cultivate Argent Soul. Otherwise it's pretty good.

Except it does? It uses the Argent Elixir, which adds a third of all physical and arts cultivation to Argent Soul, and it cultivates two arts and physical.

Sure we can. Han Jian and his pals just have to stop being huge babies. Which I'm pretty confident they will do.

There's no urgent crisis looming unless we make one. No reason whatsoever we can't cultivate physical with them, spiritual with Li Suyin, and hunt critters with Su Ling for contribution points. Relationships built on practical mutual advancement tend to maintain themselves.
