as currently your syntex causes a bit of a mess when making the tally

Freedom in this case is more in the zen Buddhist sense than the western sense. At least as I understand such things, limited thought that understanding is.
Except it explicitely say "Wings to carry our weight in the sky". It's accepting our roots but lifting them up.

Fuck no, Those main actions aren't subvotes.
Right, this makes sense.

The morality of xianxia is that the freedom and face of the protagonist cannot be impinged on. That's the source of the revenge/protectorate desires; they're all couched in terms of the 'wings'/freedom/'awesome main character doing whatever they want' actions. The revenge/protectorate stuff is the result and not the source.
This is not your typical xianxia
Is it bad that I find Huang Da's earnest creepiness sort of refreshing at this point?

No pretenses, no lies, no ambushes. Just genuine, honest creepiness. I can respect that.
honestly so I do

Yes but look into the reason why the author wanted it, and that was because he didn't want action bloat that required him to write a lot of things. And breakthrough counts as a personal training action anyway, so I'm not sure what your point is?
:wtf: ... So to avoid action bloat you want to replace the action (FVM) that would take one roll and a throw away line with the tokens, that are most likely a more major action. Then you somehow manage to put a really involved process as breakthrough on the same level as personal training action... It really is to early in the morning for this...

Please choose a Social or Mental Attribute to increase by one. Incremental progress will be maintained. In addition do not forget to vote for Ling Qi's answer above. Use the format
[][breakthrough] to indicate this, as separate from plan votes.
@yrsillar so the breakthrough choice is separate from the weekly plan vote.
can you clarify if the stat gain choice is also separate as well?

So, I am hesitating to switch my cultivate alone action from Spiritual to FVM, simply because if we fail Silver breakthrough I'm going to cultivate physical with Argent Elexir, so having a FVM action is better in that case.
I approve of switching, as much as SCS is the heavy weight when it comes to numbers, our entire combat style is based around FVM, and the latest jump was phenomenal.
Yeah, Strong Enough to Carry is not about lifting others, it about being strong enough that those ties no longer tie US down.
I have no idea how others arrived at different conclusions, unless they didn't read the previous paragraphs.
Now I am a bit worried that we somehow missed a chance for +1 talent. Maybe high enough Qi+More masteries...
Highly doubt it. That kind of thing would have a gigantic, flaming neon warning sign above it, "don't go Yellow before 30 Qi".
People are talking (elsewhere) of replacing Gu Xiulan action with sun and moon token though, so I'm expecting someone to post such a vote :(
Yeah, that'd be foolish, we are in the best position so far for talking to her.
Of course if we are super lucky like that one emperor who found a freaking DRAGON to bind as a spirit we should go for it. Epic beasts are epic.
I wouldn't count on it.

However, I'd advise the people whom are excited about the wolf to read carefully: First, it's a level 2 beastie, well out of our league for now. Second, it's an Ice spirit. Not a Wind or Darkness one. Less the mystical wolf that's associated with the moon and more the one that's associated with implacable winter.

But seriously, I'm of the opinion we should sink like 100+ stones on a super bow next turn or the one after at the most. Our "Possible unique ability" from CharGen seems to obviously be focused on Wind, which lends itself to projectiles.

Also, we should have about as much Qi as Bai Meizhen, Cai Renxiang and Sun Liling.

Holy shit son.

As soon as we get Silver, we will be able to walk around the same playground they do. Tier differences in cultivation are crushing, but a bit of luck can overcome small stage differences.

Not that we would be as strong, far from it, but the jump from 6 auto sux to 1~2 is enormous.

No, it's completely and utterly logical. If you'd read the author correctly he was specifically limiting us to 5 social actions, with all the new additional actions being personal training actions.

Is breakthrough a social action? No. Is it an action where Ling Qi personally trains herself? Yes.

Do you actually need author clarification on such basic language?

Yea, ice spirit is completely and utterly unsuited for us.
We need a dark, wind, water, sonic... or better yet all of them.
Like... an aquatic owl-bat

We're going around in circles in this point.

I'll try to make this as simple as possible, because it's 3:30 AM and I am beyond tired and sick and not very eloquent even on my best days.

Roots=/= friends. Guilt and desires for power and so on are not friends. The requirements of street life are not friends.

Roots = earthly concerns.

If lifting roots was the same as "elevating" or "empowering" them, you'd also be metaphorically increasing your earthly concerns. Concerns that are explicitly weighing you down.

Do you see how this makes the metaphor fall apart?. It's like saying your going to be strong enough to shoulder your responsibilities so you can make your responsibilities weigh more.

@yrsillar, a couple questions. First, our charsheet has our base Qi at 16 when it should be 24. Second, the +1 to stealth from our Darkness mastery, is it 'beyond' our stealth ability in mundane skill (so 3+1) or is it +1 to mundane skill, so is included in our cap of 6.

:wtf: ... No really not worth it dont really have the energy for people like you right now... go and do whatever you want.

Ling Qi also have 2 Yellow Spirit Stones, use one?

Honestly, once we get to Silver I think we should do one quest a turn unless we are going full on drug. The quests seems a lot of fun, and they probably push us into 'event time'.

Main issue seems to be we lack ability to investigate things well so far... We need that wind head meridian sensory art :)

I think also hunting with Su Ling should help us a lot in learning the necessary skills.

Rimefur Wolf: A second grade spirit beast, a creature of ice and cold, the Rimefur wolf is normally a pack hunter of the deeper mountain valleys, but this one appears to be alone and far from home.
Not even Water, but just straight up Cold and Ice. Rimefur Wolf.

I wouldn't jump on the first spirit we find to bind. First time is special after all.
Argent Vent gives Yellow Stone.
... Are you saying that the "provides one stone" ability of the vent would provide one yellow stone worth's if we are able to use those?

I am pretty sure secluding yourself in a cave to perform a cultivation breakthrough is a cultivation action not a social action

*Players finish hudling as they come to their infinitely wise decision*
"DUNGEON MASTER! Where in this town can I buy an aquatic owl-bat!"
What do you mean they don't have one! This is so unfair! Bai gets a snake and Han Jihan gets a tiger, but I can't get an aquatic owl-bat?

Yes, yes it is.

The problem being that the wings of freedom and our roots are depicted as being opposing factors. Which is why I compared freedom to the zen Buddhist sense of the word.

The strain she felt grew greater with each one, blossoming pain somewhere in the body she could barely feel. The contradiction in her own nature still twisted her thoughts though. Here in this state, she could think clearly in a way she could never manage while concious, and she wondered if she could truly have both. Her Wings and her Roots. Freedom and Connections. Would trying to hold onto both hinder her path?

Yes:
None of that is what drew Ling Qi's eye though, rather it was the broad crack in the stone of the cliff, from which a faint silver mist wafted. The edges of the cleft were lined with glittering red and yellow crystal that were all too familiar. They were obviously spirit stone, if more than she had seen in one place before and not carved into uniformity.
I am pretty sure secluding yourself in a cave to perform a cultivation breakthrough is a cultivation action not a social action
Don't say that :( :(

Yes, and 'Wings strong enough to carry her weight' means "getting both". It's basically the super ambitious path, that way.

EDIT: Not true, they are all 'both' in their own ways.

On the other pseudopod. QM's argument was that he wanted to avoid writing too many things a turn and a "cultivate alone" action is just a simple dice roll with no writeup

While breakthrough actions are huge writeups
