Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

Don't be purposefully obtuse. We escalated it by how we utterly stripped them. There's a difference between taking a winners portion of loot, and a shakedown, and we did the later. Now apologizes are sort of pointless, no oil is going to smooth these waters, but let's not pretend we weren't poor winners or that we didn't know we were escalating the feud to the next, more brutal and unforgiving, level.
Ahaahahahahah no.

There is no fucking difference. Don't pretend there is.

Hmm, yeah, we're going to be focusing on our breakthroughs for the next two weeks, so we don't need to empty our inventories entirely.

@yrsillar , how much are the Qi Foundation Pills worth?

A Meizhen action was available since Week 10. We're not advancing Xiulan's "SL" rank per se either when we choose to spend time on her, we're just choosing to spend AP on her.

Anyway, if we only have 3 accessories, I think we're still probably keeping the Hawk Talon Armguards. Our wind art is quite good what with the ATW and the daggers. I don't see any particular need for a battle flute. At most, it gives +darkness rolls, which we can already pick up a talisman for, +expression, which we can train, but the DV's going to be low. I'd rather stick with the daggers for now. We could replace the Hawk Talon Armgards with the Blooming Heart Brooch, I suppose. The brooch has a much better coverage and we'd only lose 1 die on defense.

(I'm assuming Brooch affects FVM too.)

I really like the boots but with only 3 slots, they don't make the cut. And in any case, the anklets will make up for the speed increase at least.

That leaves 1 slot - the river veil isn't as good as the sash, even if it's cheaper, and it only affects FVM at the moment unless we pick up Crimson Flowing Water Art in a few weeks. Probably better to pick up Starlight Ribbon and/or Blooming Heart Brooch. Maybe both since we're hopefully breaking through soon-ish.

I...don't think you can have two accessory/1weapon, I think it's 1 weapon, 1 accessory, 1 armour.

Anyway, I think it's best to have Knives, Anklet or Heart Broch, 50 spirit stone gown currently. Veil is also tempting.

I am also tempted to sell everything but anklet and comission a talisman. A powerful Flute (not battleflute) would make a great weapon.

(sighs) Well, the twins at least are still focused on Gu Xiulan. I'm still feeling rather sorry for them, to be honest, and would have preferred Ling Qi spare them their equipment, aesthetically speaking.

Ah, well, what's done is done.

So, of the talismans... the anklets are definitely useful for Ling Qi (and probably not for Gu Xiulan); even more speed and inititive and cutting the cost of Sable Crescent Step's active abilities. The sabers... well, Ling Qi doesn't practice the sword, but with that cost discount they're mighty tempting. The Pin is also useful, and the sash is too.

The idea of veils and sashes for a costume is... not a bad one at all. It certainly fits with the moon arts theme (and both such arts) along with the air affinity. At the high end of cost, what kind of clothes are we talking about, @yrsillar?

There is. That's why it was offered. You're usually better then this.

Only one accessory slot, two at yellow/silver.

@yrsillar How much would we be "losing" by comissioning a battleflute instead of, say, a sword?

Are we to expect a similar performance from the Mountainheart Guais as from any other weapon made purely for max damage?

Can we put things up for auction? Say, the Lifespring Staff or Mountainheart Guais, "Auction time four weeks, minimum sale value 15 yellow stones" or some such?

[] Let Xiulan get you fitted for a gown
-[] Spend 50 stones
[] Sell
-[] White Hart Vest
-[] Lifespring Staff
-[] Lotus Root Pin
-[] Warrior's Sash
-[] Mountainheart Guai
[] Buy
-[] Starlight Ribbon

Had 9 red stones and gained:
+55 Red Spirit Stones
+2 Yellow Spirit Stones
+3 Qi Expansion Pills
+2 Clear Wind Pills
+1 Lesser Storage Ring (10 Slots)
+15 stones worth of Pills (did we find out if this is our half or the total?)
With the limit we should go for quality so best gown.
Anklets and Sabers we could possibly use, limit on gear should be extended next turn anyway
Starlight Ribbon is just about better than Armguards since we have more and more expensive Darkness than Wind aligned arts. Anklets I'd say are our best accessory but I want to keep the Armguards anyway. So using Anklets and Ribbon
I'm happy to go along with pill choices

@yrsillar, if we take something like Heart Brooch or veil, would we get the Qi reduction both from overpay of techs as well as techs? By that I am thinking of Mist of the Vale, where we can pay +2 qi for 2 allies. Would it save us a total of three Qi? (1 for Mist of the Vale, 1 for Ally A, 1 for Ally B)?

How does gear work? I'm confused. If we can only have one armor slot then how are we using the Vest & Armguards?

*Shrugs* Honestly, I'd forgotten Gui Xiulan is a 'desert rat'. And apparently she's from a somewhat disgraced family. That's hugely relevant- no wonder she was willing to associate with Ling Qi closely.

In context of that, I honestly don't think we would have met a better response by failing to loot them thoroughly. They're going to keep provoking Gui for being an outsider, she's not going to take any sass, and a feud with those core-province kids was in the works no matter what we did.

It'd be interesting to see how Gui would do hanging out with Meizhen- I get the feeling after the posturing they'd get along really well. Uniting the 'Outsiders' would be an interesting way to go...

It's kind of a mstery box option, so I can't answer that directly. At fifty stones it'll be a damn nice outfit quality wise though.

Battleflute would have lower DV than a sword with a similar enhancement level, probably around the staff or the knives level of DV. Mountainheart Guai are pretty close to the max damage level you can expect at this stage though, yeah.

Edited in a question, could we put some stuff for sale? Like the Lifespring Staff and Guai?

Or get a better value through a direct "trade" action (commissioning something), with Xiulan as tag along?

Could you give us a basic breakdown on weapon types, and what to expect from them? Is there a greater weapon type that benefits from dexterity? That ignores armour? A weapon that could do ranged and melee duty?

Maybe we should start learning how to use a sword. Those sabers are really quite nice. I especially like the fact that it lets us do melee at range, mitigating the main weakness of melee; the other guy gets to hit you back.

Armguards fill the talisman slot? They just gives bonuses to wind arts.
They are a talisman.

We have 1 weapon slot (tho we can switch mid battle), 1 armour slot (vest/gown), and 1 talisman slot per level of our highest cultivation. So 1 at red/gold, 2 at yellow/silver, and so on. Next week, if the breakthrough goes alright, we should be able to equip two.

And we're double posting again, but oh well.

It wasn't particularly laid out before this update, but yeah, that's the reason Han Jian winced when she brought that story up.

Gu's family isn't disgraced btw, it's just general regionalist sentiment. You know westerners are viscous barbarians, folks from golden fields are ruthless and poor, core province folks are effete wussies etc.

I will admit, I'm not against the idea of learning sabers as our melee choice, they're incredibly underused in the genre as something other than something for the protagonist to show the superiority of the sword.

It would fit our whole shtick so far too of "Yeah, I'm a support specialist, but for some indescribable reason, I grow faster with physical Cultivation".

But it really has poor synergy with our build, especially since FVM is just so good but requires both hands.

Seems you missed this in the flurry of posts:

Also, what can we expect of a Flute Talisman (not battleflute) that's focused on cost reduction and added dice for 50 spirit stone?
