Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

The weapon abilities and looks do not really need to be connected anyway. When the time comes we should have two separate task votes, I.e.

That would be deeply unsatisfying to me. The story has focused on this a fair bit and I think it's very important for it to have thematic coherence.

If the weapon was going to be moon element this might be compelling. Instead it is a shard of material that absorbs everything, and that just doesn't scream moon to me in any way so trying to make it moonish just seems off.
New Moon ?
I'm also concerned that the narrative focus of a chakram is multi-target, as opposed to the single target focus of a dagger. What we really need this thing for is punching up against ridiculous tanks we couldn't otherwise hurt, so I'm more in favor of a focused weapon.
Chakrams are thrown weapons, like shuriken or darts. Only in video games or movies do you have silliness like having it bounce between different targets.
It's like saying a handgun is a multi-target weapon because Lucky Luke, or whatever western movie's protag, does ricochet shots.

The new moon helped us get a shard of material, it doesn't make the material in any way moon aligned. If the New Moon quest had led us to a silvery material that seemed to shift or change then I would be saying we should double down on moon themes for it, instead if led us to a shard of material that is for leeching the qi and blood out of things, so trying to make a symbol of the moon out of it just seems pointless.

Similarly, getting stuck with a terrible weapon because it looked cool would be deeply unsatisfying to me. Besides, themes are pretty flexible, you can easily spin most abilities onto most weapon chassis.

...
A disk made of dark material is the perfect imagery for it.

Hmmm I for one wouldn't mind an actual sword rather then something exotic here. I'll look for concept art that fits what I'm thinking of as I'm horrible with descriptions

The sword
Black sword. On hit absorb the qi present on the ennemy sword forcing them to pay qi if they want to have it active.

The Sheathed Sword

A sword and sheath combo. The sword is meaningless. The sheath is the real danger. When we pour qi into it, a shadow of a sword appears on the ground, as though there were a flying sword above it. Want to hit someone, it cuts them and does both Shadow and sound damage.

Since Ling Qi always does things a little backwards I feel like her flying sword should be neither flying nor a sword.

Edge
A perfectly symmetrical double sided blade without a hilt, without a tang. It devours light, qi, and blood voraciously without discrimination.
Element: Darkness
Attribute: Dexterity+Manipulation
On hit, absorb qi, dispel buff, ap/semiperfect damage bonuses

Hungering sword of the coiling mist.

A twisting obsidian blade that releases a mist between its coils. It pulses frequently, sending small burst of boundless Hunger, coveting all before it's glorious sight. The holes that line it's white bone hilt release a terrifying inhuman whistling screech as it soars through the air.

Status effect - left to QM as I would love to see what he could do with this

Edit: did I do good senpais D: it's my first time trying to be creative like this ~~

Black Nail

Darkness/Death

Improved Semiperfect Damage.
Improved damage to unaware targets.
Improved damage to targets near death.
Aggravated damage.

A thin, perfectly black stiletto, nearly half a foot long. It is physically painful to look upon, and seems to shift and move even as it keeps perfectly still. Its thrusts can slip through even the heaviest armor, and the wounds it leaves cause debilitating pain, and heal only with great difficulty.

Shade's Reach

An oily black guandao that has thin white-gray stripes criss-crossing its handle and blade, and that casts its surrounding into low-light, resembling that of the last stages of dusk, just before nightfall.

When this domain weapon strikes an opponent, it reveals its insidious nature by applying a debuff to the target's perception and its speed.

Shadow in the Dark
A small black blade that seems to devour everything - even the sound of its passage. Darting in and out of the shadows and fog, it is deceptively hard to detect, stabbing into holes in enemy defenses and draining their life before they know it's there.

Ability: rolls stealth every turn to check if it is detected. If it wins the clash, it gets a sneak attack against the enemy, with art bonuses applied.

Other than that, dunno. Bonus damage is kind of a necessity - maybe also some kind of debuff effect?

There. Get all the Synergy :p

I was so tempted to make a suggestion considering all of the edgy and chuuni suggestions out there. Probably would've been called "Last Surprise" because why not.

But Chron's already got a Ling Qi (tm) name done, so I don't feel the need to put in work so lol

Tailor's Regret
A single, large sewing needle which reflects no light. It weaves through the boundary of light and dark, slipping between enemy defenses and perceptions unpredictably to do its work. Seeming to evade detection the harder one looks, trailing umbral threads, bone-piercing cold, and the fresh well of blood drawn are the only hints it ever existed.

Possible abilities:
-bonus on stealth rolls to stay hidden despite attacking/allow the attempt a certain number of times per battle
-bonus damage from stealth
-bonus damage in low-light/darkness
-bonus dice in low-light/darkness
-range extension via shadows
-targets spiritual defenses instead of physical
-high armor piercing
-'sewing' shadows to the ground/entangling; this is entering 'this should be an Art, not a weapon effect' territory
-leaving an 'imprint' of the weapon or agitating/freezing threads in wounds that cause damage on subsequent turns
-threads drain qi over turns?
-uses stealth as an attribute
Basic theme for this is whatever craftsperson Cai gets is a bit too eager to play up to the themes of her clan for her new first gen Baron vassal. So a mixture of overeagerness and a -mostly well meaning- patronizing view of Ling Qi's autonomy in light of her status as a new noble and being a fresh-faced Green and all. It's possibly an ill-fitting tool, but it's an artistic and thematic masterpiece- at least, in the craftsperson's view, and that was their objective in completing the commission: impressing the Cai heir. The Lady Ling just gets a little bit lost along the way of the process.

I went with "Tailor's Regret" for the name because can you imagine having a sewing needle that slips in and out of shadows and isn't reflective? Your feet would be pincushions after a month because there's NO way you'd find it with any other part of your body once lost.

Ohno, this post is too big.

Hunger. Or Void, etc

A single black shard of eternity that drinks in everything, light, Qi, blood and life. Piercing virtually everything, it devours all in its path, draining Qi and life as it carves and consumes huge quantities of both from its prey. The touch of the void is not easily endured.

High AP and DV, consumes bonus health and Qi per touch (includes defence. Would be durability of other flying swords?), inflicts shock/horror effect on failing test of Stamina/Resolve/Wits?

I mean whatever QM finds relevant, not all lol.

I actually really like this. A further advantage of the design is that we could stick it in our hair and be stylish.

Also thumbs up on going with stealth synergy. A sneaky flying sword that benefits from things like mist and our stealth abilities would be great, and would open up a lot of fun build opportunities and incentives. It also aligns very well with Ling Qi's desired approach to stabbing people - i.e. shoot them from stealth.

Night Fall

A brace of obsidian throwing daggers which appear cracked, as if on the verge of breaking. From the cracks leaks a dark fog that consumes heat and light. The longer the battle lasts the more the fog permutes the battlefield. Should the wielder wish it additional daggers can be plucked from the fog, thinning it and lessening the drain, but giving them another dagger to join what are already present.

I like it as well, except for the tournament and other occasions where we are in opening combat against peers or betters, their flying sword will be attacking us unopposed while ours sneaks up to stab them. Great if we can keep stealth, not so much if they find us.

Funny you should say that. Because I was just thinking about this.

Like, the needle idea of @AbeoLogos is really cool - good armor piercing, but not the kind of thing to leave great gushing wounds or do massive damage. But then, people have been really keen on qi draining, which fits well with our style and the umbral shard. So I thought - what if it had bonus qi damage? Logically, qi damage is much more limited than normal bonus damage or bonus unblockable, so we should be able to get more of it, or afford more expensive other abilities. I.e. if @yrsillar is willing to give +4 bonus unblockable then he should be willing to give more than +12 bonus qi damage.

But there's a problem with this. Flying swords don't have qi, so our sword would get wrecked by other swords - unless it doesn't fight them. If we have a stealthy sword then it could sneak around and attack them instead of their sword. Now, what about us? Well, remember - we're a tank. We can totally take a flying sword attacking us once we've got our buffs up - it's not a big deal. We're also good against projectiles. So not getting into a flying sword on flying sword duel might actually be the best thing for us.

So, something like:
  • High AP
  • Bonus Qi damage
  • Ability: rolls stealth every turn to check if it is detected. If it wins the clash, it gets a sneak attack against the enemy, evading their flying sword to attack them directly.
This would fit us really well, would be a really cool unique style, and creates interesting gameplay and build incentives, as well as potentially working really well.

Dusk Ring
An unadorned black chakram that seems to devour any qi, light or blood that enters its vicinity. Dexterity+Expression. Darkness. Qi Drain. Armor Penetration.

I like the concept a lot, but the name is kinda plain. I'm falling asleep with my phone in my handa here, so all I can odfer is one ajective and hope someone will feel inapired.

"Stilling..."

The idea is that while Ling Qi plays/sings, her chakram silences the scoundrels most loudly disturbing her performance.
