Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

Who could have imagined the wife of a former Ministry of Integrity spy could be manipulative!

Was there a point to this comment?.

I dont really want to sign up with someone who will only tell us what she wants to, but will not tell us enough to actually understand what we're getting into.

And that's pretty much every interaction with her up until this point.

It's probably a flying sword. Gleaming stuff in a pond? That sound like a call back to the lady of the lake.

If it's actually a flying sword, this would mean that we are Arthur.

The Mu spirit beast is a giant owl. Owl that are associated with flying and knowledge. Which would mean element wise heaven and wind. Which are our bloodline elements. Also giant, which would explain our hugeness.

And our background is supposed to be the clichee option. Can you do more clichee than being born to a love between a prince and a commoner?

Please, @yrsillar tell me I am wrong about our father.

My beef with Hidden Moon is that we won't be able to use a significant part of whatever we find from it.

Depends on what the reward is.

Certainly, we could get another Art. We got one when we did the Grinning Moon's quest.

But we also picked up two Grade 3 Cores, two Sable Light Pills, and an Abyssal Earth Pill.

Regardless, the Grinning Moon's reward was stuff we can take. I wouldn't be surprise if the Hidden Moon's reward is something we find. Like maybe a Cultivation site.

I wonder if we might get back the Bloody Moon's interest once we enter military service.

"True enough," he agreed. "But my phrasing was deliberately grating. I had heard that the current crop of talents was a quarrelsome bunch, but it seems that may have been exaggerated. No matter," he made a sharp gesture, dismissing the subject. "I am Liao Zhu, practitioner of the Soaring Sanguine Crescent, the Twinned Star Discourse, and the Sable Moon's Veil. Introduce yourself."

Ling Qi straightened her shoulders unconsciously, the young man's words felt odd, they were commanding, but she couldn't manage to muster up any offense at the blatant demand. She supposed sharing the names of her arts was fine. He could hardly teach if he didn't know what she was cultivating.
So, upon rereading the update. This part struck out to me. I feel that Liao Zhu is using a social technique as there is no way that this isn't odd.

No other tutor needed to know what else Ling Qi cultivated, even if some of them figured it out. It seems like she is rationalizing a response that she has little to no control over. Interesting. It seems like an information gathering technique? Compel a person to answer the question that is posed truthfully. She seems to try and follow the format that he set out, but that could simply be that Ling Qi is mimicking him in an unknown situation.

Not really clear on how Phantasmagoria works. It doesn't affect allies with the area of effect at all, positively or negatively? If an opponent fails the Perception test and can't tell which is the real Ling Qi, is she considered in stealth?

I wonder if there can be thematic conflicts between different Expression arts if they are used at the same time. The emotions aroused by revelry for example seem to very different from those of Forgotten Vale Melody.

[X] Hidden Moon

No contest. I know all options are in character or they wouldn't be provided, but it's substantially easier for me to see Ling Qi getting invested in this route than the others in consideration both of what Xin has done for her and in her interests so far.

Additionally, as a reader I prefer digging up secrets and getting up to skullduggery than the other options. I dislike scenes like the moon rave where it's all about folks getting intoxicated and doing foolish things and I'm tolerating rather than enjoying Zhengui scenes for the most part up until he becomes substantially more mature. That leaves one choice remaining to represent what I'd like to encourage.

[X] Mother Moon

Either of these are fine for me.
I have no horse on the moon race now, Bloody was super interesting. Grinning's sister, and the patron of our tutor, many of us were hoping she'd show up.
Ling Qi actively pulled Meizhen back from hurting someone she knew was bad news (YR)—good way to lose the interest of the Bloody Moon.

Also, you know, Hidden moon is all about finding and hoarding secrets.
Or finding and exploiting secrets, which we love doing. Our first jade slip, the trial locations, etc. Learning secret or lost lore is great, especially for someone with no family art library or cultivation tradition to draw on. The hidden moon is the one most likely to set us on the path of finding new arts or other cultivation knowledge.

Liao Zhu
Moon tutor!!!!!! He sounds attractive and I'm immediately invested. You probably could have written him even more to my taste, @yrsillar, but you'd be hard pressed.

Anyway, guess who did art of her new husbando. Not necessarily finished, but I might just stop here cause I have no time to do anything anymore and this was mostly quick, rough, and dirty~
