Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

Great update!
And Ji Rong just cannot catch a break, can he.

A new storage ring!
Too bad we did not get any clues about the Argent Art...

One nitpick:
@yrsillar
Talent 6 + 5RSS + 25YSS + Tutor 15 + Pills 6 + Spine 4 + Zhengui 5 + Site 6 = 72 dice
10 8 9 8 5 2 10 4 2 3 5 8 10 7 10 7 2 3 4 3 7 2 6 4 3 2 8 7 8 9 7 7 6 7 4 10 9 5 5 2 8 2 10 9 8 1 8 2 5 1 6 1 4 1 7 6 2 6 5 9 6 3 7 1 10 1 3 10 5 9 1 4. 35 successes

Rerolling 6
9 2 10 4 5 4. 4 successes. 29 total
124/150

If I am reading it correctly, it should have been 35+4 successes, so 39, not 29.
This would make it 134/150

Or am I missing something here?

...and ninja'd...

speaking of which ... @yrsillar with the size of the dicepool involved, its probably easier if you just convert the rerolls into extra dice. The only difference would be in rare cases of extremely improbably successful rolls

I don't think we need a tutor action this week since there's only TRF and FZ left to cap.
imo the 5 minor should be Xiulan, Meizhen, MaSuMa, Zhengui, Box:

[] You never did get to go out have a night on the proverbial town with Xiulan, see if she's still up for that
People were voting for it a little while ago, and it has been some time since we last used a minor on her. And a few people voted for it last week.
Though there is the possible option "(Major) Wolf Mission with Xiulan"
[] Meizhen has been disappearing more often, she's even too busy to train this week. What is she up too?
same as above ? might seem a bit pushy but it has been some time since we last used a minor on her. Just need to phrase it nicely, so Cui doesn't get too pissy.
[] Invite Su Ling to join in and spar with the Ma Sisters. She could use some partners closer to her level, and more friends besides
last week we had 46 votes for the plan with this one. We should probably do it now that they had a week off to work on the issue.
[] Zhengui's pyre had begun to dim, shrinking no matter how much fuel you add. You should be there when he emerges
pretty much mandatory. i really don't want to have him pop up and be alone.
[] Work to unlock the Puzzle Box
No matter what is inside it's probably best to have it before the Breakthrough.

[] Speak with Han Jian, about Argent Storm and the Golden Fields. What is his home like?
useless since we won't be leveling up AS before the breakthrough
[] Work on formations with Li Suyin, with the Vault Warriors mastered, you can delve more deeply into the Pale Manual
kind of like above: we don't have the time to cash on whatever is in it before breakthrough
[] You've learned what you can from simply observing Cai Renxiang. Ask her about the capital and about herself
More a case of not enough room for it than anything else... and we did just spend an action on her.

Changes to FSA:
Passive Effects
-Reduces all environmental penalties to ranged attacks by four five.
-Increase maximum range of bows by fifty sixty meters
-Adds two points of armor penetration to all bow attacks
-Adds three die to the users pool for all bow attacks

Luminescent Star: o
Cost: 4 5 qi
Gathers and infuses elemental power into an arrow to be fired, adding five dice to the offensive clash and adding three four additional damage on a successful hit. This additional damage may not be blocked by basic qi absorption.

Disruptive Star: oo
cost: 4 5 qi
A more complex technique, focusing on the heavenly aspect of the art, the user's arrow crackles with latent electricity and when it strikes home, disrupts the enemy's qi and nerves from the shock. Adds three dice to the offensive clash, and on hit reduces enemy speed by five halves enemy speed for two turns as well as forcing a four success resolve test. On failure the enemy loses the effects of their lowest ranked persistent technique.

Meteoric Shower: ooo
Cost 7 Qi
A honing of the archers ability to fire quickly, explosively increases the archers speed for handful of moments, allowing them to unleash a blindingly bright volley in the time of a single shot. Allows the archer to fire up to four arrows with a single clash at a penalty of four dice. Targets struck must succeed in a Wits test of two successes or be blinded. Successful attacks add one additional damage each, which may not be blocked by basic absorption.

Falling Star Shot: ooo
Cost 6 Qi
Infuses an arrow with the force of a heavenly bolt, in a display of raw power that crushes defense and leaves the target reeling. Adds seven dice to the users offensive clash, and deals five additional damage, as well as increasing the users DV by 2 for the purposes of this shot. This bonus damage cannot be blocked by qi negation. Cover and other obstacles do not grant bonuses to defense against this technique, as the arrow twists and weaves with the archers will. A full enclosure still prevents targeting.

I have to ask, @yrsillar... isn't Falling Star Shot like Luminescent Star but better in practically every way?
LS is a 1-dot technique which gives +5 dice and +4 unblockable damage.
FSS is a 3-dot technique which gives +7 dice, +5 unblockable damage, +2 DV, and immunity to cover/obstacles. That is a net gain of 4 dice, 1 unblockable damage, as well as other bonuses, all for the cost of 1 Qi. With that sort of trade-off, would we ever actually want to use Luminescent Star?

@yrsillar no minor for moonbox?

There also seems to have the heart meridian action missing, and the beginning of the week's physical cultivation wasn t counted in the physical overflow from FSA (we should have 129? Before heart meridian).
Already said by Arkeus, but just to repeat since @yrsillar hasn't said anything about this yet:

We had an action to open a heart meridian with SuSu this week, and it doesn't seem to have been rolled. With such a jam packed week it's easy to overlook something, but I just want to make sure it's addressed :)

@yrsillar forgot this one:
--- [X] Give the pen (from Renshu's base) to Suyin if we haven't already

Also, multi-attacker penalty should be 2 or 3/attacker since we have AC. Unless our allies are out of range or Ji Rong has some defense against that. (I also though the downgrade to 1/attacker penalty is per full realm, not per stage)

EDIT: also forgot the heart meridian roll if nobody mentioned it yet.

With Zhengui coming out of hiding this turn, doesn't this put extra importance on doing the dragon action? After all Zhengui is going to make up a good chunk of our combat prowess during the tournament given it's 1v1 battles, and enabling him to get access to that site in general should greatly boost his cultivation speed which should be valued highly, perhaps even in excess of the benefits towards Ling Qi's cultivation given she has multiple valuable sites while this one is perfectly suited for Zhengui. Then there's the further incidental benefits of getting to know the Dragon, who it's been speculated is the progeny of a spirit bound to one of the Sects Elders.

As a summary for those who don't want to go through it manually, FSA5 gave us two big bonuses.

First, Disruptive Star now halves speed, which is huge. It is only for two turns, which is a shame, but even so that means the speed debuff on this technique can actually make a big deal in fights.

Second, we got Falling Star Shot, which is basically Luminescent Star but better in every way. It is altogether ridiculous. For the cheap, cheap cost of 6 Qi, it deals FIVE bonus damage, with 7+(ooo)=10 dice to the attack roll, and on top of that DV for the attack is boosted by 2, AND it ignores cover/obstacles. This is now our best technique for punching up thanks to the high dice total and the bonus damage.

Do I read right and Ji Rong has 60 Qi ? I thought that Yrs said that he has ~45
Ji Rong
25 dice_Multi 3-Sleep 2. 20 dice
6 4 1 3 3 10 6 4 7 2 5 5 9 9 4 1 3 1 6 10. 5 successes. +2 auto.

2 total+2 encircling winds. Bonus damage of 2
3 negated by armor. 3 negated by qi
42/58
apparently he has 58Qi.

But what annoys me more is that he somehow Qi absorbed attacks that should not be possible, ie LS:
This additional damage may not be blocked by basic qi absorption.

We also need more armor penetration, and armor ourself, if even a late yellow has 8 armor.

I'm not sure how you got 60.

From the snippets you quoted, Ji Rong negated 5+3+4=12 damage with Qi, which costs 24 Qi total.
There's a steadily decreasing count from 58 as the combat log goes on that I'm pretty sure represents Ji Rong's Qi. Since no other single person in the fight is getting so thoroughly and totally whacked as consistently as he is.

On minors.

[] Zhengui's pyre had begun to dim, shrinking no matter how much fuel you add. You should be there when he emerges
[] You never did get to go out have a night on the proverbial town with Xiulan, see if she's still up for that

These two are absolutely must-haves. We obviously aren't going to miss the Zhengui action, and we haven't done anything Xiulan for way, way too long. Non-optional.

[] Invite Su Ling to join in and spar with the Ma Sisters. She could use some partners closer to her level, and more friends besides
[] Work to unlock the Puzzle Box

These two are high-priority. I want to see more of Su Ling and more of the Ma Sisters both; so this action is just a lot of fun as far as I am concerned. The Puzzle Box could be important pre-breakthrough, so we want to get started on that if we can.

[] Meizhen has been disappearing more often, she's even too busy to train this week. What is she up too?

I would prefer that we use our last minor action on this. I was against this action last week, because I felt it would be pushy. But this week, Meizhen is to busy to train, so IC I think we should swing by and offer our support, whether that support is material or emotional.

Maybe, but before all that something we should consider for the Bai action.

Sun Liling is currently in seclusion, and has shut off the rest of her faction with her. That means that, for her, her focus is on dominating her peer opponents through whatever means are necessary. The reason we've been holding off on breaking through for now has been due to a desire to stack up breakthrough bonii, so that isnt an issue so much for Ling Qi.

The problem is with Bai.

Time Bai spends hunting down Yan Renshu is time she isnt cultivating, and we already know that its beginning to affect the rest of her schedule given this weeks lack of options to train with her.

Which means we need to wrap up that dangling loose end sooner, rather than later, or else Meizing's plans to earn a favor by beating Sun Liling in a one on one fight are gonna go down the drain right quick.

apparently he has 58Qi. But what annoys me more is that he somehow Qi absorbed attacks that should not be possible, ie LS:
He might have more than basic qi absorption. That seems like a pretty simple sort of upgrade to defense, and posited enough by the system itself that I would expect it even to be common. Energetic and expensive, sure, which is why Ling Qi's version is her single Yang art.

Anyway, yrsillar only said that the scale was approximately rightish or something vague like that, so Ji Rong having a bit more Qi than that guessing scale figured isn't a huge surprise for me.

We need 5 qi to ignore one point of damage
5×12=60
It is 2 Qi per damage, not five:
At it's base, Qi can be expended in place of health to prevent lethal wounds at a 2:1 ratio. That is you may expend 2 qi to prevent one point of damage. If a wound would reduce Ling Qi to 0 health, this happens automatically.

~~~
We also need more armor penetration, and armor ourself, if even a late yellow has 8 armor.
Where did you see someone having 8 armor?
So for this week, we need to open a spine meridian for TRF 4, train TRF to cap it, and train AC to get to AC 3. We'll use a Highsun to get the meridian and to get a bonus physical roll that should cap physical as well. With that we should be ready for breakthrough! And we still have 2 free major actions. Now one might have to go towards getting a heart meridian if we don't get it this last turn, once yrsillar rolls for it. But otherwise, we need to figure out what to do with those two major actions. It makes sense to use one towards the dragon; as for the other, I guess I'd prefer taking a job, but we could also start spiritual breakthrough or cultivate AE.
apparently he has 58Qi.
We never used LS in this fight. We used Encircling Winds, which has no damage which cannot be absorbed by Qi. And we have no idea if other people were using techniques that cannot be absorbed by Qi; they probably weren't with the possible exception of GG (as the rest are kinda mooks), and he used an AOE attack which is less likely to have unabsorbable damage.
I agree with everyone saying the Meizhen minor is more attractive now. Before, it seemed meta/overly clingy as many people have brought up. Now I kind of worry since it's affecting her training. Narratively, not helping her, and having her training slow down due to overdoing Renshu, could cause her to fall behind Liling for the tournament.
It's speculation, but I think it's at least important to consider given the change in wording from last week. Ignoring increasing urgency in minor wording has hurt us before (i.e. RIP Su Ling tail :cry:).
You have all of my preferred minors, so if you make a plan, I can pretty much guarantee a vote haha.
