Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

I admit seeing the Delay Announcement just makes me want to see more of Joe in GG Beetleburg.

Will Cannon be Derailed?
Y'know what would be funny? If canon kicks off entirely un disturbed and Joe stayed in Beetleburg, got a teaching position at the university (what's left of it) and eventually ended up as the town's primary defender after the Pax Wulfenbach detente collapses…

You missed my point entirely here. When I said human I was referring to the fact that Joe is physically speaking no longer a human.
Whole conversation you talked about mental age, memories, disconnect from humanity and perception, where physical entered it? Why would it even stop him from looking at humans in romantic light? Hadn't stopped Dragon, and she never even was a human.

Also, he IS still physically human. Perks are additive, not replacing. Remember how Joe became a demigod by being 100% human and 50% god. Fiat does not care about making sense. Okay, there is that Life Fiber hybrid thing, that's not fiat backed. Still, mostly human.

It would be, IF Joe can stay out of Trouble? The Clay's are Next Door & Clanks & Hetrodyne Minions will be Riled. Screaming "WE HUNT!"

For all that they are Dumb, they have EXPERIENCE! In Spades. ♤

When I said "other humans" I was drawing attention to the fact that Joe is running around with a disguised body that isn't.

I was two paragraphs into writing a reply to clarify my statements.. then reread my previous post and realized that earlier I was arguing as you thought in regards to how his powers may prevent him from looking at the potentially romantic encounter. My bad, a loss of comprehension on my part due to posting without rereading in this heat.

Though I'm not seeing how you believe Joe's powers don't effect the way he views people. He has a power that lets him feel emotions in real time, he's a powerful telepath, he possess another ability that tells him when others are being deceptive etc. Seems impossible for that not to influence someone's perspective when interacting with others.

It's Joe's greatest Superpower. The power of Denial. Also called burying your head in the sand. The ancient technique of plugging your ears and going lalalalala. The power his whole Semblance is based off of. Oh, and an iron will to respect others privacy as much as possible. More then likely. No matter how his lovely godly relatives might interfere. Simply, his perspective isn't influencing him because he doesn't want it to...well, except Revival...that isn't something he can tune down or turn off unlike his other senses. But it is still something he can choose to ignore when he wants to out of respect of privacy.

Doesn't change that he can become romantically involved with folks though if he wants to. But that is the kicker. If he wants to, but that's not a choice that his powers make for him.

Okay, it seems our conversation is build on mutual misunderstanding. Still, there is a couple of points you made that made me think, so I will write down my thoughts. At this point, it is less of me arguing against your points and more thinking a loud about topics barely related to what you said, but hey, no one can stop me now.

So, about that "disguised body" part. Again, just look at how Joe himself sees it:
Chapter 105 said:
"Still rocking the dragon god cyborg look?" She asked as she looked up at the combination of my Gigas form and Cyborg Hindu Godbody.

"It helps with the training." I explained. "Easier to manifest your true self if you aren't maintaining layers of obfuscation."

"And this is you?" She asked, gesturing up at me.

I smiled at that. "It's as much me as any other form I can take." I explained. "Everything that's come together from all of my powers isn't more or less of who I am, it's just a matter of balance." I focused and shifted back to what was my general default human form. Bronze and gold faded from my hands and my skin lost its clay like texture. The elaborate plates on my legs melted away and my feet shifted away from their draconic shape.

Not concealing aspects of myself so much as shifting how they were expressed.

"Are you getting philosophical on us?" She asked jokingly.

"No more than I have to in order to make this work."
Him talking about layers of obfuscation might appear a bit contradictory with all that "Not concealing aspects of myself so much as shifting how they were expressed" idea, but that is after a bit of time skip, the whole of which Joe spent thinking about what he is. I interpret it as "layers of obfuscation" is the way he saw it before, and "not concealing" is how he sees it after thinking about it. Also, it's worth noting that Joe's body is not disguised as a human, it changes to be human. Joe is a shapeshifter.
Chapter 104 said:
"You get back to it when you can." Mr. Laborn said. "You seem to be holding up well enough."

I shrugged, concealing any reaction to the comment. Shapeshifting had gotten my build to a level comparable to when I was actively training at the gym, but there were several other factors that I couldn't suppress even with my best efforts. Aphrodite's blessing, my new demigod body, and a power that was literally called "Perfect Hair" all added up to a rather distinct impression.

Tl;dr version - Joe is not inhuman disguising himself to be human, he is human capable of taking on an inhuman form. Which isn't even anything new to Worm, Changers parahumans exist. And Cases 53, for that matter.

Anyway, other part:
Though I'm not seeing how you believe Joe's powers don't effect the way he views people. He has a power that lets him feel emotions in real time, he's a powerful telepath, he possess another ability that tells him when others are being deceptive etc. Seems impossible for that not to influence someone's perspective when interacting with others.

Flufferton's answer is part of it. Joe restricts his expanded senses most of the time. The only time on my memory he used them all out is in his confrontation with Butcher, and even then it just confirmed his judgement, not changed it.

And that is the other part - I never said that Joe's powers don't affect the way he views people, I said that they do not change it. They supplement it. Being able to feel emotions and know when someone tries to manipulate him did not make him think differently of people he already knew, and it doesn't influence his judgement of new people any more than hearing their voices or seeing expressions on their faces does. Yes, there is an influence, but it consists of giving him more understanding of other people, not altering his "perception of other humans", the judgement he makes from that newfound understanding still 100 percent Joe, same as before he got powers.

Also, worth noting that before, from the previous context of conversation, I thought we were talking about effects of power granted mental age and inhuman abilities on Joe's perception of other people. Therefore, I used how Joe doesn't see Ms. Gartenberg and Doug differently, as an example of why I think Joe's powers don't affect the way he views people in regard to age or skills. As in, he doesn't think that elderly are younger than him, or lost context of general human abilities enough to think less of someone for being worse in things that effortless for him.

This is painfully passive-aggressive, and entirely unnecessary.
You're trying to tamper with forces you do not understand. HEADDESK phenomenon is beyond our comprehension and safer to be left to its own devices, tormenting the one its chosen. It's a shame that we had to sacrifice TriviaFreak to this wretched curse. Well, it can't be helped, I suppose.

Man chapter by chapter I look forward to one simple thing.

Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

Joe: I’m Eidolon but better, have infinite resources and incredible tech which can be exchanged for obscene amounts of cash, and I am working to reshape the world as a space-faring super-society once I destroy the Endbringers and kill Scion (who is evil btw). Family: I knew this would happen...

I've always wondered how would his family react.

I think OP hit the nail on the head tbh, so at this point I'm more interested in how Joe would handle the fallout of being exposed to his family.

Quite likely by setting boundaries and then quickly needing to go no-contact, but it's also fun to imagine how Apeiron would go no-contact and make it stick.

Belligerent phone calls and emails? Goes straight into the Super Scientific Solution spam filter.
Show up at my apartment? It's split into two separate Textures - one for the Celestial Forge and friends, and one for uninvited guests.
Show up at my job? Too late, I started a Patreon for Boundless Music just to get some legitimate income on my tax forms and now I'm making bank working from home.
Show up at the gym? Lol, lmao.
Try to tell people your delinquent son is Apeiron? Well I'll lift the curse on my secret identity so you idiots don't get killed, but Survey already started spamming social media with fake Apeiron reveals so you'd get lost in the crowd.
Try to browbeat me into listening to what you guys have to say again? Mental Fortress, no diffed.
I can do this all day. Hold on, my six Triumvirate-Tier parahuman friends who don't feel averse to threatening you are calling.

You're forgetting the fact that he is literally pen pals with Lucifer and the eldritch horrors from Fallen London. And considering the fact that Star Trek dealt with alternate universes, time travel, and more to the point of having them actually have regulations involving them..

And can't forget the Doomsday Weapon skills from G.I. Joe and the potential for Dr. Doofensmirtz -inators being possibly built, he has so many options for back up. Including the different versions of himself alongside his clones.

Joe looks at his mother. "The Greek Pantheon are better parents than you."

Nah, they are in a totally different reality.

I never got along with my younger brothers until I went off to college for 4 years and got married and rarely returned home except for Christmas. Who knew that it only took seeing them once or twice a year to get along with them? Not having to put up with them or live with them daily? It made my life much nicer.

Joe needs a perk that banishes his mom to a different reality and only has vague contact with her when he decides to get her drunk across realities. Suddenly, he'd be getting along with her far better. I could see him feeling responsible and going looking for her though.

How about his mom and younger sister getting banished elsewhere when his mom goes to visit his younger sister and cape crap happens that has nothing to do with Joe?

I could see Joe putting in tons of effort trying to track them down. Depending on how it was done and where they were sent, I could see him having difficulties with it. If they were merely sent to one of the ones that Cauldron has access to it might be rather easy to track them down. Then again tracking them down across dimensions isn't really something he can do. It's something Tetra could do though she would have needed to meet them beforehand, which hasn't happened.

Interesting idea. I'm following a Harry Potter fanfic in which AU!Harry basically repressed and decided to ignore anything to do with the Dursleys. Years after the defeat of Voldie Harry is fighting a resurgence of Grindelwald's followers when suddenly Dudley shows up to plead for Harry to help him save his daughter, who is magical and has been kidnapped by the group Harry is fighting.

It's hard to ignore family and associated trauma when the situation forces you to focus on them.

Threatening Joe's family would also allow this story to meet another mandatory requirement of every superhero. Still needs to meet his evil twin/clone, though.

Interesting, what's it called?

So I was just thinking about the multiple divinities Joe has had dumped on him and how his pantheon (the Forge) would work out, based on their known traits so far and came up with this:
  • Apeiron, god of progress, technology, the forge (also the Forge), and fire
  • Fleet, god of movement, coordination, and the wind/air
  • Survey, goddess of knowledge, divination, and lightning
  • Garment, goddess of fashion, industry, and light
  • Lethe, goddess of memory, art, and water
  • Matrix, divinity of construction, repair, and earth
  • Proto Aima, goddess of connection, growth, and blood
  • Kataklyzein, god of war, weapons, and death
Basically how I think people who see visions of Apeiron would end up canonising the team. What all do you think? Seems like a pretty solid lineup to me….
Also, where do the Kerbals and Titans fit? And the Undersiders, especially once the public gets the full effect of their new gear.

Due to a recent obsession with Hades 2 this has made me wonder what blessings the forge would give to Melinoë on her runs.
