Person of impeccable tastes (for destruction)
[X] Toward the moonlit peak and its unseen players, calling her to join the serenade.
Tactical vote for now.
Also, why do people constantly insist that Ling Qi cares about freedom? She repeatedly mentions about disliking being forced to do whatever, but I don't recall freedom itself actually being important to her (as opposed to her decision to rise above her origin as a street rat and her pathetic efforts sacrificing everything for saftey).
Is this mentioned in the text and if so where?
Freedom is constantly harped on as one of the highest personal ideals we can strive towards in our society, and so we project. Most people don't seems to really be willing to grapple with the fact that for Cultivators, part of being free is the freedom for my fist to not stop at your face, the freedom to take offense and protect personal pride with others lives, or the freedom to not care about the lives around us, or beneath us. To watch our homeland fall into war, and say that that is the concern of mortals and walk away with a song on our lips.
We're also not good at seeing relationships as entanglement. It's not the normal western way of presenting them or looking at them.
If you ignore all the negative aspects of freedom, it is appealing, and has appealed to Ling Qi before. She's just chosen against it, to be a shield to her friends, and an ally to those who have helped her.
Some people think it will lead to Ling Qi 'Awakening her Cloud Nomad Heritage', which seems neither likely nor desirable at this time, but they obviously disagree.
