Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

[X] Toward the moonlit peak and its unseen players, calling her to join the serenade.

Tactical vote for now.

Also, why do people constantly insist that Ling Qi cares about freedom? She repeatedly mentions about disliking being forced to do whatever, but I don't recall freedom itself actually being important to her (as opposed to her decision to rise above her origin as a street rat and her pathetic efforts sacrificing everything for saftey).

Is this mentioned in the text and if so where?

Freedom is constantly harped on as one of the highest personal ideals we can strive towards in our society, and so we project. Most people don't seems to really be willing to grapple with the fact that for Cultivators, part of being free is the freedom for my fist to not stop at your face, the freedom to take offense and protect personal pride with others lives, or the freedom to not care about the lives around us, or beneath us. To watch our homeland fall into war, and say that that is the concern of mortals and walk away with a song on our lips.

We're also not good at seeing relationships as entanglement. It's not the normal western way of presenting them or looking at them.

If you ignore all the negative aspects of freedom, it is appealing, and has appealed to Ling Qi before. She's just chosen against it, to be a shield to her friends, and an ally to those who have helped her.

Some people think it will lead to Ling Qi 'Awakening her Cloud Nomad Heritage', which seems neither likely nor desirable at this time, but they obviously disagree.

Not voting because I'm fine with either the forest or mountain option. But putting a tally in here.

Actually, seeing the tally I've decided to vote.

[X] Into the forest, full of life and joy. She did not want to leave her friends waiting.

...

Y'know, I may have never mentioned this before or given any inkling that I had opinions on the topic, but here and now I reserve the right to complain when the inevitable backlash of not gaining any Argent Art breakthrough bonuses hits after we learn what they were. Because that's how this works, obviously.

Dark: Ling Qi receives a two die bonus against all attempts to dispel darkness arts. Ling Qi receives a 2 die bonus on all offensive clashes using darkness arts
Darkness continues to be awesome.

My preferred elemental spread is Darkness/Wind/Wood at the moment, so I'm tempted by the village, but that doesn't seem possible, so I'll stick with wood.

That offensive clash bonus makes me think we should pick Darkness when we finally get our new melee art.

Oh, I'm already bitter about losing out on it, but it was hard to spend actions looking for it. That would require a write-in action, which is always harder, and it would be an action with no progress attached. We would be finding out what we had to do, rather then doing what we had to do.

I like darkness/wind/wood too.

In this case, I like the aesthetic argument someone made a while back that we should pick water for Bai route, fire for Gu, and wood if we go Cai route.

Tentatively moon, though I may switch to sky if it starts leading.

So, some comments about this "Black Loom Gargantuan." It is totally going to be worth 1 green stone for a minute of combat. If we break down a minute of combat into turns of 6 seconds each (typical D&D round) then we have 10 turns of this thing in play.
That thing will basically be a fixed installation once built. Hauling it around with us to fights would require a wagon train, so aside from the tournament it won't see much use. I'd rather invest action in things that will be useful all the time rather than just when we have enough warning about the location of a fight to haul that thing into place.

Our life is way too unpredictable for that kind of fixed defense to be appealing.

Well, it doesn't have to be stationary. We know that Meizhen had a tablet for storing the amount of water that could be found in a lake (might be hyperbole there) but strong storage formations do exist. Buying one of those and plopping this monstrosity into it might be feasible.

Another possibility is upgrading it so that it doesn't take as many spirit stones. With its size, it can move around something fierce.

A third possibility is selling it after the tournament, I bet we could make a whole lot of money selling a "mecha" monstrosity that took part in the Sect's outer tournament. A rich noble that failed to get into the inner sect this year might pay big dollars for something like that.

Torn between this and peak; both interest me more than the other two.

Eh, I for one'd be a bit miffed, particularly if the bonus was good, the art was actually in Ling Qi's reach or is no longer accessible. But the "Perfect Breakthrough" bonus salves quite a bit, the free meridians too, and the "Imperial 8" bonus is going to apply to Argent Arts anyway (and the wind bonus to Argent Storm).

EDIT: And Ling Qi successfully breaking through, of course. "Success has many fathers, failure is an orphan" and all that :p

Definitely not a dinosaur. Summoning skeleton dinosaurs requires the foreign dark arts of polka.

Well, some people HAVE been asking that we look for a second music art...

So, am i the only one having an irrational desire to go back to the first trial site and reanimate Zhenguis parents corpse for use as a Bone Mecha armor for him?

Shit would be cash.

Also, what i imagine to become Zhenguis battle theme. He will probably look and fight much like that 600 metres tall heavily armed and armored land battle-carrier later in his cultivation. Also the name "Spirit of Motherwill" fits.

I'm more about forest because I really like our friends and would like to have the connections we make be able to benefit our cultivation in more ways than material, but I dislike the sky option (for the same reasons) more than that.

While it gives prioritizes freedom, freedom like that was basically never in the cards for us unless we were going to go barbarian after the sect and explore whatever we wanted while avoiding imperial hunters.
I ain't into that.

Moon mom is nice too and shes an easy second, a first in most cases. Music I care about less but I can dig it anyway.

Darkness is also meh, I'd rather not embrace more of that portion of our history.
Embrace the other side of darkness - mystery and mystique, rather than stabby stabby cower and live in an unsightly manner avenger boy.

Forest is ahead of Sky at this point.
