Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

I am now kinda hoping one of the minor option for next week @yrsillar will give us will be to challenge Kang Zihao for a duel. I want to see what his new wolf spirit beast is made of.

I don't really understand why the moon&music vote is winning. I can see both the sky and the forest fit Qi as a person but I can't say the same for the m&m? Can someone explain for me?

[X] Into the forest, full of life and joy. She did not want to leave her friends waiting.

I will be honest here, all other option interest me, they interest me a lot, so I might change later.
Do we REALLY want to be the person who rides a bone-abomination into combat during the highly watched sect tournoument? It isn't breaking the law or anything since we are using spirit beast bones, but the optics here aren't great...
would be awesome though.

Ling Qi wants freedom yes, but primarily she wants the freedom to choose. In our Yellow breakthrough we choose to carry all our burdens and weight with us.

I vote that we choose our friends. The people who we have connected with, in our resolution to both try to be a better person and a better friend.

If it wasn't for the music I'd be all over the moonlit peak option.

[X] Into the sky, unfettered and free, to visit where ever she wished, at the time she wished.

So, some comments about this "Black Loom Gargantuan." It is totally going to be worth 1 green stone for a minute of combat. If we break down a minute of combat into turns of 6 seconds each (typical D&D round) then we have 10 turns of this thing in play.

Something else to potentially consider.

From what we've heard, Green Stones may not function like Red and Yellow. We know they're needed to cultivate certain Arts at Green and we should all remember the Dragon had a Green Stone on him. It's possible that Green Stones are more stable than Reds and Yellows and wouldn't be completely drained out.

Alternately, we may need to look into other ways of powering formations.

We know this thing was originally designed to run off of ritual sacrifice. We might be able to research alternative fuel sources for Formations other than blood sacrifice or Spirit Stones.

This is the way I want for Ling Qi to grow, a life path alongside friends and Zhengui.

Yeah.

A forest and a camp fire is a pretty strong Zhengui connection, as he's Wood and Fire, so I suspect it will be less about Wood or Fire arts, as it's about drawing power from our bonds. He's our most mystically 'visible' bond, but I suspect this will help us go full Persona.

Always go full Persona.

Only not? Every step along the path we're discarding part of our mortality, our ability to choose. Every commitment we make here is permanent, it says someone about what the nature of the Greater Spirit Ling Qi would ascend into. Each of the paths is a priority, and will effect to some extent how we see others.

I sort of group them like this.

Antisocial
  • The village is full of marks to use and hid among.
  • The sky is empty of others.
Social
  • The Mountain is full of secrets to win from spirits
  • The Campsite is with our friends, guarded by our Spirit Beast.
It's why, while I consider Friends better, I'm not bothered by Moon.
Interesting. I was thinking of it as the village as Yin social, forest as Yang social, mountain as Yin asocial, sky as Yang asocial. I don't think any of the options are truly antagonistic to socialization, but both the mountain and the sky have elements of isolation. And yet are not truly alone. The village and forest both fundamentally rely on the presence of others, however. Mountain's a bit both ways since there's mention of spirits, but the island peak itself is isolating and the spirits are hidden.... This vote is fun; it's great seeing the perspectives of others.

Yes.

Well, I can certainly try!

As her awareness was subsumed entirely into her pulsing qi, she found herself within a vision. In it, she sat on a high cliff overlooking a lake. Below her stretched a misty vale, silent under the light of the moon. The vale was a lively place, with a lush wood at its shore, she could see a bonfire under it's eaves, and she was sure her friends were waiting. A little village sat at the opposite shore, the tiny lights casting long shadows, and in the center of the lake sat an island, tall, narrow and mountainous, stretching high toward the clouds as if to grasp the silver moon, from it came a familiar tune.
We can see here, a vale lost in time. Only Ling Qi can see it, and it is quite possible that only Ling Qi will ever see it. Her friends are in the forest, safety is in the village, freedom is in the sky, but there is something connecting all of them.

The mountain between the forest and the village, wilderness and civilization, risk and safety. The mountain scrapes the sky and connects it to the ground, freedom and responsibilities (to the village or friends). It is the mountain that connects everything in this vale together, it is the mountain that bridges and provides the central pillar to all that we currently see.

The mountain is graced by the moon, a sign of change, of night, and of our patron. From the mountain comes a familiar tune, either FVM or a tune we remember our mother playing. However, we don't know who is playing, and that is one thing different from the village or the woods. In the woods lie or friends, in the village lie protectors, in the sky there is no one currently, but in the mountain there is someone. We don't know who it is, but wouldn't be neat to find out?

Less symbolically, music has been a big part of Ling Qi's life even before she left her mother's care and headed into the streets. In fact, a flute was one of the only things that Ling Qi took from her mother when leaving. So even before desperates struggle to survive, music has been a part of her life. And the love of music might have spawned at the same time as the love and need for freedom.

Another reason would be that people like music for Ling Qi.

Hmm, let's look at things through the lens of desire.

Village is Ling Qi's desire for safety.
Forest is her desire for friends.
Sky is her desire for freedom.

So what's mountain? A mountain, moon, music, spirits...

Clearly it is her desire to be like Zeqing-sempai!

Let's do this!

[X] Toward the moonlit peak and its unseen players, calling her to join the serenade.

Tactical vote for now.

Also, why do people constantly insist that Ling Qi cares about freedom? She repeatedly mentions about disliking being forced to do whatever, but I don't recall freedom itself actually being important to her (as opposed to her decision to rise above her origin as a street rat and her pathetic efforts sacrificing everything for saftey).

Is this mentioned in the text and if so where?

Flying is good, but Moon AND Music?

Always go for the music vote, fluting people to death is hilarious.

Yes? Yes, I totally want to be that person. Summon our worm abominations and our bodiless gnashing teeth and ride the Skelemech in a cloud of burning ash and spite.

Friendship is Magic!

Although I'm okay with moon winning really.

I'm torn between this and the forest + campfire one. I'll put my vote tentatively as the music one first
