Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

The double AE is an improvement, believe it or not. Previous iteration had a chance to set us back in our breakthrough. If both attempts failed, it would have meant not being peak in both at the end of the week.

Wait, what? Breakthrough Week 2.0 double-cultivates AE? WTF?

That is terrible. We aren't even doing a stealth mission this week, and you are doubling up on AE? Gross.

Tbf 2.0 does have a stealth mission (Fu Xiang's). I have no idea why we need to double up on AE though.
Breakthrough 2.0 does have a stealth mission and it only double cultivates AE (which we do want to rank up) as a secondary if all our breakthrough rolls succeed otherwise those go to getting back to peak. No idea why he put the stealth successes on AE first though.

EDIT: Can anyone remember the location of the Emerald Sea province in the Empire? North, South, East West?

It's the southernmost province, with forests at the very north of the province and mountains lining the south all the way down to the border otherwise known as The Wall. The mountain ranges of the souther province cut off at the east, but they go on in the west all the way to the Murderjungle.

Gonna weigh in from my lurking cave.

People. If we break through, FVM, TRF, and AM are unlocked. If we break through, AE/AC/FVM give free successes to spiritual, via black pool. If we break through, we get a ton of bonuses to cultivation and combat ability. Current non-breakthrough majors are so bad people voted for a ten point sect mission. Please, break through.

@yrsillar Earlier, you said you couldn't attach social minors to breaking through. Is attaching the puzzlebox minor to breaking through acceptable?

She feels like she rules because other capable people (like Meizhen and to a lesser extent Jian) aren't interested.*

A bigger part is they can't. Meizhen is temperamentally unsuited. Combat power notwithstanding she's never been interested(in fact its counterproductive to her goals) and has limited people skills outside of being unstoppable and scary.

Han Jian is...well he's barely managing his official and legal vassals as it is.

So aside from Cai, it would have been like the 2nd years. Anarchy around small nucleus.

They could have denied her success, but they could not have taken it from her...and denying her success is not even in character.

Meizhen would always have been Sun's enemy and thus barring a monumental fuckup by Cai, is a given in her camp.
Han Jian probably would have stayed out of it entirely unless Xiulan was drawn in by Sun and dragged the whole group in.
She rules because she made it more beneficial for everyone to be under her than against her.

2 more Sect Points means that we'll be able to immediately go to the Third Floor when we breakthrough and start poking around there.
Going to the 3rd floor immediately after we break through means we would be doing it without having seem whatever is in the music box. Given that it is highly likely to be a music art, I definitely want to know what it is before we spend fifty sect points picking up an art to boost our OTHER music art.

[x] Plan Breakthrough: Start!

Consolidation on the more popular action. We need to break through. I don't want to instead of that end up wasting more time on the fluff asking about Cai and that sort of thing. If it's anything like the last social option it doesn't lead to anything we don't already know or suspect, and we already have a good relationship with her.

People understand if you don't talk to them when you meet them later and you've done a breakthrough. Breakthroughs make you better at just about anything you care to mention as well as allowing for further progress in certain areas where we are presently stopped up. It's irresponsible to neglect our breakthrough just to peptalk our friends unless they're about to do something stupid and possibly die or whatever right away.

That said, for social options I am partial to meeting Gu Tai because we've basically neglected him this whole time he's been over which was in part to meet us. Don't want to anger the Gu family even though the Meizhen/Cai bandwagon won't let us do the desert exploration.
[X] Plan Our Friends Will Understand if We're Busy

As can be seen with strategy 2 and 5 actions there is no chance of getting double breakthrough, though I don't think most want it. There is a 67% chance of getting Green completely however. Whichever strategy we use, it is pretty safe to assume that reducing the action count will decrease the chances of actually succeeding. I've seen 45% thrown out as the total chance we have to breakthrough to green with Start!, and as another assumption that it is the true value I think its a pretty reasonable number to get by reducing the action count by one.
That is not correct. My fifth action goes to recovery, which is equivalent to a breakthrough action unless all 4 breakthrough attempts succeed. That difference has ZERO impact on the chance of getting to Green, because if we got 4 successes we've gotten Green already.

To put it another way, if we fail any of our Green checks, we get to use the recovery action to get back on track, which is what we would have done with the 5-action plan anyways.

In other words, our odds here are in fact ~67%; not the 45% number that people seem to have pulled out of somewhere.

It also doesn't specify what to breakthrough except through slightly obtuse context
Wat.
-[x] Breakthrough Priorities: Prioritize breaking through Green. In case of failure, wait until we've tried to recover; then continue. In case we can't proceed further towards Green due to either failure or success, start breaking through towards Bronze.
This is "slightly obtuse context"?

[X] Plan: Last stop before Breakthrough Week 2.0

Because cultivating a friendship with our potential boss is important and Zhenqui might have found something useful for us. Plus getting Fu Xiang's task out of the way is good as well, it's been two months after all.

[x] Plan Breakthrough: Start!

This one has more traction right now. And I really want to make a proper start on breakthrough. It'll benefit us in many ways.

I'll admit I think part of my apathy toward Cai is that we've already spent a lot of actions on her and got very little interesting out of it. Useful perhaps but not particularly interesting.
That is true, but imo it's more a point against QM writting than anything relevant to the vassalhood descision itself. I mean beyond the fact that any other offer will always fall short of CRX's on the materialistic side of things, and political power. Ultimately what we got from those minors was OOC info from CRX PoV chap to become IC Ling Qi knowledge, some (very limited) insigth in how she treats her minions, and direct benefit from her before even accepting her offer.

Huh.
Stellar Shadow Tools:
A set of fine scouts instruments, including lockpicks, wires, etching tools and brushes. Provides a three die bonus to all larceny checks which would involve tools, and a one die bonus to avoiding the effects of failed disabling attempts.
So for something that cost 300RSS+ (140+ 1 Grade 3 Core), this is fairly underwhelming. I guess that Larceny Increase is meant to be really hard @yrsillar?
