We don't need to all in on breakthrough this week though. It was a prospect, but that was before we got several high importance Minors showing up.

Plus, if we don't do the Fu Xiang quest now, we're probably not going to end up doing it next week either, which'll put it at almost two months since we were asked to do it.

Not doing it this week means not doing it a month, not almost two months.

More seriously, we knew we would have several high important minors showing up. This is nothing new. For example, here is what our minor choice have been for the past month:

If the reasoning is "we have too many important minors now, let's do it next week when we won't", this will never happen. Either sacrifice important minor, or vote for PS's pan... and if Alectai's plan win this week, @PrimalShadow will certainly do another 5 actions plan next week. And it will win, because people won't want to again do 2 breakthrough week... but won't want to sacrifice minors either.

This week is enough of the norm, minor wise, that if the reason for not voting for PS's 5 breakthrough action plan is because 'better use of the drugs next week', it won't happen.

I will vote for ANYTHING other than "last stop before breakthrough". I don't get the reasoning at all. For one thing, it has a 30% chance of cultivating AE twice, which is a total waste of dice. I also don't see why the favor suddenly needs to happen right now. We're going to do it in the near future, and we'll do it more than 3 months before the tournament easily. And that's the real deadline after all.

QM always found more crap to send our way in the form of new minor action. every. single. week.
There is no reason to believe next week will not also have new urgent minors too.
Imo anything with less than 3 breakthrough attempts on green is a bad plan, four being preferable, to actually accomplish anything this week and free up stuff for the following week(s).

I believe I have 6 points from my 3 omakes. If I put them all in Archery, is that enough?

I've made it clear why I want to talk to Gu Tai. Both to give him one last chance to make a case for himself and to give him some face before we inevitably turn him down.

I wouldn't mind [] Last stop before breakthrough 2.0 winning, but it doesn't have my preferred minors and if we succeed breaking through I'd prefer to do Yan Renshu or the wolves than potentially do AE twice.

I don't like [] our Friends will understand as I think that if we're going to go full breakthrough the puzzle box, and probably even Meizhen are less urgent than visiting Zequing, given she was busy last week and suddenly invited us to her home this week.

Eh, what it boils down to is that the mandatory Minor is basically Main Story Progression, while the other one is finishing up our "Get to know our possible (And increasingly likely) employer before we take the plunge" line. I don't actually consider it to be a Double Cai like some people do as a result.

I'll admit I think part of my apathy toward Cai is that we've already spent a lot of actions on her and got very little interesting out of it. Useful perhaps but not particularly interesting.

I find Cai a very flat character, with most of her interesting actions feeling like they could be shared by other, more interesting characters. For example I feel like the law actions could have been covered just as easily by Meizhen, or Suyin or even Xuan Shi. She just feels very flat to me. She's a Satsuki expy without a lot of the traits that made Satsuki interesting.

Satsuki initially made a good villain because she was extremely charismatic, but also extremely hateable with the horrific system she set up. She became much more sympathetic with the (very well done) reveal of Raygo's sheer evil and Satsuki's goal to bring her down. But it also revealed that despite her personal competence she was outmanouvered, her plan failed badly and she had actually done more damage to the people who wanted the same thing as her in her quest to bring down her mother.

Cai simply doesn't (to me at least) have the same sense of sheer prescence and 'awesomeness' that Satsuki had. She feels like she rules because other capable people (like Meizhen and to a lesser extent Jian) aren't interested.* And whilst she's exchanged that for much more overall competence in society building (and desire to build a decent one) I don't feel like we're going to get too much beyond that without making her the focus of a truly concerted action campaign and sacrificing time with all our other friends.

I also think part of the problem is that we haven't really seen any of Cai's truly awesome moments in her campaign against Sun Liling on screen, whereas Ling Qi has been involved in a lot of the victories against her. Probably Cai's biggest moment was bringing the hammer down on the massive pack of Liling's followers that we had gathered into a big ball behind us. But partly due to player choice we didn't see that. Cai and Meizhen taking down Liling? Didn't see as we were unconcious after saving the day from Qi sucking flowers. Kang Ziahao's capture was good strategy, but no real action. Fu Xiang and us were responsible for her getting the blackmail to get the second years to back off. We invaded Renshu's base and caused the split (maybe we could have seen Cai's grand speech?). We got intelligence back on Sun's fortress. We didn't get to see the raid on the fort because we were instrumental in keeping Sun Liling away via awesome rolls.

We'll also get to see what the peace deal was this week, which I'm actaully more worried about now because I reread Cai's interlude where she admits she's terrible at intrigue, while Sun Liling is at least fairly good and we know she didn't call in the people who are really good at it to help her out.**

*The lack of other consistantly present and truly viscerally hateable villains doesn't help much. Sun Liling, Kang Zihao and Yan Renshu are perfectly fine villains, but vastly less present and anger inducing than Nui or Raygo.
**Actually her getting a relatively bad peace deal, whilst personally infuirating might make her more interesting as a character. Forcing her to deal with an angry council and face up to her faults as a character to grow.

What are your thoughts for PS's plan?

From what I am seeing, while I want and am voting for 6 actions breakthrough, PS's plan has all the important minors but Gu Tai's, and if we aren't willing to ignore this week's minors we aren't going to be willing to ignore next week's. No minor this week are particularly more notable than usual.
 
@yrsillar I would like to put 3 points into Archery and 3 into Manipulation please. Using up all my points from Cute Grinning Moon, Cat Qi, and Cat Qi 2

Overall it's a pretty good plan. I'll probably swich over to it if Gu Tai doesn't get any more traction (doomed optimism).

The potential issue with it is that if it doesn't do well on breakthroughs we've fallen even further behind on our major action backlog (an issue with all heavy cultivation weeks) and is slightly less efficent with the breakthrough pills than a 6 action week. It leaves Yan Renshu alone to hide himself better for a week (which is an issue with every plan tbf) and still leaves the favour for Fu Xiang hanging. Last stop 2.0 Does at least make some progress on this front, which I'm more comfortable with due to getting our new tool and (hopefully) paves the way to a 6 action week with the meds next week.

Actually on review @Alectai Is there a reason you're dedicating EPC's successes to AE rather than recovering from breakthrough fails first?
 
Wait, what? Breakthrough Week 2.0 double-cultivates AE? WTF?

That is terrible. We aren't even doing a stealth mission this week, and you are doubling up on AE? Gross.

If necessary, I can put two omake points of my own where needed.

I actually really like the idea that she asked Meizhen for our tea preference being the explanation for the change in tea. But yrsillar has since said, either here or on discord, that she just has a wide variety of teas and the change had nothing to do with Ling Qi.
