Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

So, I have never made a plan before. If I have forgotten something... slap me with a fish.

[ ] Plan: Get on with it
-[ ] Expenses: To be determined (definitely Blood of Father Sky and Milk of Mother Earth)
-[ ] Major x 6: Attempt Breakthrough (Green until 3 successes, then Bronze. Recovery as necessary.)
-[ ] Minor: Cai Renxiang has something important to announce. It seems you will need to attend a council meeting

Basic idea: Get this over with, nothing is on fire.

Holy crap, is Renshu secretly a female bomb-maker in the service of a dragon? Because I'd have sworn that was a timestop bomb.

As for actions, speaking with Han Jian about Argent Storm is a good idea - it's one of our few passive physical defenses.

Only 2 rolls ? You want to spend 3-5 weeks on breakthrough ?
And one roll each of green and bronze ? At least make them both green so we can use whatever breakthrough bonuses it'll give for a couple extra weeks.

Not at all, I plan to go full Breakthrough next week, but doing two attempts this week should make it easier to pull off a double breakthrough next week.

[] Protoplan tricholysis
-[ ] Pills: lol I dunno
-[ ] Major: Attempt Breakthrough
--[ ] Green
-[ ] Major: Attempt Breakthrough
--[ ] Bronze
-[ ] Explore and Train with Golden Fields
--[ ] AE
--[ ] Attached Minor: Zhengui is up and around again and didn't get to do much on the raid. Go hunting with him
-[ ] Major: Train at the Vent with Su Ling
--[ ] Recover from failure (Spiritual>Bronze) or else AC
-[ ] Attempt to placate the Dragon of the Valley
--[] Attached Minor: Meizhen has done a lot for you, tell her about the Dragon and the Valley, let her do as she wants with it.
-[ ] Minor: Cai Renxiang has something important to announce. It seems you will need to attend a council meeting
-[ ] Minor: Your feelings regarding Gu Tai are... conflicted, maybe you should speak with him a bit. You know where he is staying.
-[ ] Minor: Zeqing has been quite busy, but you received a message inviting you to meet her... at her home?

The more manageable Meizhen action, maybe.

And of course Gu. seriously just let him show up one more time and shut me up
Sounds good. Though I'd prefer another contigent recovery action.
* Ignore all else, breakthrough at max. Only gets three social actions, extremely likely to break through ASAP.
One, actually.

A lot of people were planning on going full breakthrough this week, but decided a few minors just needed to get picked. How do you know that won't happen again?

"I had intended to collapse the structure," Meizhen replied simply. She stood on a thin branch, which somehow flawlessly held her weight without bending. "Then trace the trail of his escape method, should he have one."

Ling Qi grimaced. "Wouldn't that have good odds of, well… killing him?" She pointed out.

"A terrible tragedy indeed," her friend replied without looking away from the lake. "I of course had intelligence indicating that he was elsewhere at the time, and that a cultivator of the earth element would be hardier."

Ling Qi looked down and sighed. She didn't doubt that her friend could get away with an excuse like that.
Meizhen's judgement wasn't compromised and all our concern about her risking herself by breaking the sect rules was wasted. We really need to start trusting our friends more.

There was a rumble from the entrance was water swept in, pulled by a flaring of her friends qi, and lakewater flooded into the room on a wave that failed to touch her.
Whatever else he was going to say was choked off as a dozen thin spears of water slammed into his back and erupted from his chest, spraying her with dirt and clay.
Nice! It's rare I get to see my speculation borne out so quickly, but I'm happy to have been right about her possessing a high-volume offensive water art.

Unfortunately that irritation only grew as they reached the last of their targets, and found it silent and empty, stripped of everything of value, with no clue as to where it had all gone.
This, unfortunately, I'm not happy to have been right about. Better than even odds his real body was in there too.

On the other hand, if Meizhen went with her original plan, she'd have thought we killed Renshu--and as we would have never brought his puppet decoy to battle, we'd not made the connection.

He would have successfully faked his death and had plenty of time to prepare a counterpunch without opposition as long as he kept his head down.

As things stand, our adjustments to the plan meant that we actually made him hurt for no significant loss on our part. He lost his big storage cache, and he burnt his puppet decoy and decoy residence without successfully shaking us off the trail. Sure, the trail's gone cold now, but he's been choked out and we still know to be on guard for him.

EDIT: In other words, he planned to fuck over a Bai--and his scheme didn't take because the Bai was willing to let a normal person take the lead. Which meant that his masterstroke was largely parried.

Ummm... no, that's not what that passage suggests at all. It suggests that Bai Meizhen was setting up plausible deniability - if he escaped, she'd track him. If not, oh well, so tragic...

Of course, what would've actually happened was that she would've thought him dead, Ling Qi would be anxious and worried over her getting in trouble (possibly got in an argument over it), and Yan Renshu would've successfully faked his death.

Sooo... she wasn't being irrational, but she was definitely aiming for a kill if she could get away with it.

EDIT: I think, at this point, Yan Renshu is probably going to lay low. If he had successfully faked his death, I would've put it at nearly a certainty - lay low, turn in his project and surprise... he's in the inner sect, haha, fooled you all.

Now he knows that his enemies know he's still alive, so he might give up on laying low. On the other hand, he might decide that next time they might actually get him.

We would have noticed when we went to loot his puppet factory and found it empty.

Alright. In the interest of simplicity, I'm going to propose a breakthrough plan. Which doesn't sacrifice minors, because we need the minors.

[x] Plan Breakthrough: Start!
-[x] Use from Inventory: Blood of Father Sky, Milk of Mother Earth, 3RSS, 1YSS
-[x] Purchase and Use : 3RSS, 1YSS, Steady Growth Pill (6 RSS) Sturdy Oak Pill (18 RSS);Total: 37 RSS
--[x] If cultivating spiritual: Flowing River Pills (6RSS), Soaring Spirits Pill (6RSS), Soul Concentrating Elixir (8 RSS); Total: +20 RSS
-[x] Other Purchases: replace the Escape Talisman and anti-scry Talisman we used
-[x] Breakthrough Priorities: Prioritize breaking through Green. In case of failure, wait until we've tried to recover; then continue. In case we can't proceed further towards Green due to either failure or success, start breaking through towards Bronze.
-[x] (MAJOR) Attempt Breakthrough
-[x] (MAJOR) Attempt Breakthrough x2
-[x] (MAJOR) Attempt Breakthrough x3
-[x] (MAJOR) Attempt Breakthrough x4
-[x] Train at the vent with Su Ling
--[x] (MAJOR) Cultivate Spiritual if we fail a Green Breakthrough Roll and lose Spiritual XP; otherwise Cultivate EPC.
--[x] (attached minor) Work to unlock the Puzzle Box
--[x] (attached minor) Work on formations with Li Suyin, with the Vault Warriors mastered, you can delve more deeply into the Pale Manual
-[x] (minor) Cai Renxiang has something important to announce. It seems you will need to attend a council meeting
-[x] (minor) Meizhen is right... the two of you should probably talk, it seems there is still a lot you don't know about each other
-[x] (minor) Zeqing has been quite busy, but you received a message inviting you to meet her... at her home?

We can't get three social actions with a full six major turn though, because the minor reduction is taken out of our freebies. And we can't hook minors onto Breakthrough attempts.

5 Majors and 3 Minors is what we get if we decide to use all of our Majors on breakthrough--which is still an option I suppose. Not the most optimal choice we could possibly make, but a solid chance of achieving at least one breakthrough.

Guys, given how much we screwed over Yan Renshu this week we need to go after him before the trail gets even colder than it already is.

I reccomend we spend one of our non-breakthrough majors on tracking him down and attach Meizhen's minor to that, given she's almost certainly equally anxious to hunt him down.

Hmmm... it's possible. And it's the kind of Ling Qi gesture (foolish, endearing yet ambitious) that Meizhen is pretty accustomed to. It could come across as "I don't think I can do this alone, could you help me again please?" though.

Well I certainly think it is an IC and while your argument has some merit I personally think it is exactly this kind of stuff that actually resulted in us being friends with Mei in the first place. And I think that exploring the mystery of a dragon is a far better adventure (and less likely to be viewed as needing her help) than most things we could do together.

Not at all, I plan to go full Breakthrough next week, but doing two attempts this week should make it easier to pull off a double breakthrough next week.
if you use attempts on this week, then it isn't a double breakthrough anymore, it's a two weeks breakthrough.
Which logically is worse than single week Green Breakthrough this week and single week Bronze Breakthrough next week.

That sounds decent. We could get some of this blob of minor actions done and still finish with breakthroughs in week 38.
It should be noted that we can get a bunch of our minor action blob done even without this. I've proposed a breakthrough-heavy plan, with 4 breakthrough actions and 1 recovery action, which doesn't sacrifice minors at all. The only shortfall minor-wise is that one of the minors is the Li Suyin action, which isn't a top choice - but in total we still go almost full steam ahead of minors, AND we probably break through to Green this week.
