I can imagine them doing that.
I can imagine them doing many things.
Up and including discarding some Kazumis down the line, not because they witched out while fighting other witches, but because their cooking was awful.

I remember someone in the comments asking "Are you sure Urobuchi's not writing this?"
And they told him: "Nope, Hiramatsu is just another flesh mask for that crazy bastard" ( I paraphrase)

They put... a lot of importance on food.

Not quite Nasu levels of detail, though.

I always though the Saints modified/launched the Giant Forks that litter Arzt's barrier when they did that. It also is a callback to the Fork Arrow (or would that be a call forward?) that Anri used for her ransom note message.

I still thought the posing was really, really, stupid though.

Don't badmouth your own team like that, Kazumi!

Mmm... a couple of the 'arrows' are those forks, now that I watch closely, but the others are actual giant arrows.

Before I go to sleep, two thoughts:

[]Shrug uselessly: All you can recommend Hijiri is headpats.

Because Hijiri headpatting Niko in her time of need cannot go wrong. I mean, it helps with us and Mami (Although we usually use our chin.)

In all seriousness, yes, I think a physical sign of comfort would do some good, if Hijiri was willing to give it. Thought how much depends on how much she's uncomfortable from not wanting to be there, and how much from not knowing what even to do.

[]Privately: Find out whether and in how much detail Anri told Hijiri about the circumstances of her contracting.

Anri's loose lips could sink many ships, and this could determine just how loose they are. (Though, if anything, our conversation with her has probably made them far looser.) Plus knowing whether or not she's laid out that verbal torpedo barrage against Hijiri gives some idea of who's going to be collected and who... won't be, should worst comes to worst.

Regardless, on whether this in particular is deemed worthwhile, one way or another we need a solution for this not to end in flame and tears.

  • [X] Thank Madokami
[X] Gauge situation, offer to extract Hijiri if desired, delicately remove if so
-[X] Privately, politely offer to listen if Hijiri wants to explain what happened
-[X] Regardless, be supportive and hopeful
[X] Ask Saki for her Grief Seeds, explain you were examining all of them with intention to make another Clear Seed
    -[X] Cleanse Arzt Kochen
[X] Explain to everyone why you want to save Anri: Though you've never felt pain like her, you know how easily anyone could end up like her. You're honestly not sure how you'd handle losing one of your friends, but you do know you'd want someone there to help you.
[X] Privately, Kazumi & Mami: Later on, you might ask to talk with Anri privately. You don't want to upset her, nor to let her upset them.
[X] Offer for Hijiri to search with you, she knows Anri best and you're committed to saving Anri.
[x] Take a photo of the Hijiri/Pleiades hugpile.

    [X] Gauge situation.
-[X] Offer Hijiri to help extract her from the hugpile only if the hugpile remains undisrupted afterwards.
--[X] We don't have a good phone. Ask Mami to take pictures instead.
[X] From here onwards, refer to Yuuri Witch only as ALL CAPS. At least, inside your head.
-[X] When ( if ) hugpile ends, ask Saki and Kazumi to clear ALL CAPS. Elaborate, that your knowledge and Grief Sense offer insight on the nature of the Witch. You heavily suspect that having this Seed specifically will be helpful.
    [X] Privately, Hijiri:
-[X] Don't ask what happened. Unless Niko or Kanna decide to share, it's not your business.
-[X] Be supportive, remain hopeful that some progress was made.
-[X] Kindly ask to share any information she might've withheld: say that Airi is suffering, too, and you'd like to help her if you can.

You know what. Yuuri was the worst.

Think about it. By Kazumi's and Umika's logic, people who don't finish their food are bad guys.

Yuuri? She made it to the finals of a cooking tournament.

And she didn't finish.

Instead, she went somewhere backstage, and fucking up and Witched out.

During the finals!

Like, come on, girl! You were almost done!

Nah, Yuuri gets a pass since Arzt Kochen is still attempting to cook, she's just trying to cook using the diseased organs of those with her Witch Kiss... which sorta kills them.

But she still finishes the meal! and that is clearly the most important point.

I wonder what Sabrina would think about her sense of humor, if she could look inside deep enough.

Wishes work by giving abilities based on wording and/or intent, and Wishes for even non-Madokas can still easily create things ex nihilo. In addition, for Magical Girls like Sayaka, their powers are disproportionately strong compared to their Wish (aka "Heal one hand" equals "Heal anyone at all super fast"). Thus if Anri does have a connection her powers would handle it. Plus it would explain how she's still raging so much... But I also acknowledge there's no way to confirm prior to encountering her. So overall, it would make sense but even if that isn't true Yuuri would still be secure & spared her suffering.

...Yea no. You're really underestimating how HORRIBLY a witch suffers, and really diminishing Airi's agency and character by trying to turn her major complex into an external force.

Like, look, this girl made a wish to abandon her entire identity, become her friend, and dedicate her remaining existence to tormenting and killing her murderer. This all happened before any hypothetical mind-link with Artz Kochen could've happened. This hypothesis is ridiculous.

Hardly be the first time a Magical Girl accidentally affected herself. I was never outright saying "She must be crazy because of her Wish". It really doesn't sound that farfetched, yet I've also acknowledged it is just as likely not present. Overall, I was mainly pointing out a potential benefit to clearing Yuuri now rather than later.

Except I don't think there's been a case where a Magical Girl's personality has been affected by the wish on accident. Kirika's wish was made to deliberately change her personality, and the reason her personality went off the deep end is because Oriko was pretty much forcing her to kill Magical Girls, which ended up breaking her.

Incidentially, have a cute crossover picture, everyone.
I'm pretty sure that, where I took it from, nobody will miss this.

What I'm wondering is whether it would be better to pilot an Eva or be a meguca. Because without someone like Sabrina around, both are rather awful situations to be in.

I've said it before, I'll say it again.

I thought we were the part-eldritch abomination artificial human, created as a result of one person desperately, obsessively trying to save their loved one, and central to a scenario in which the very laws of reality are turned upside-down?

Incidentally, I remember from a binge of Asuka Quest that SB!suka was like 80% Angel after going berserk a few to many times, and also the interference of Asuka's mom. Was that from canon, something original, or ripped from another fan work?

The pic?
You don't want to know.
I mean, I don't know where it hails from originally.
But where I took it from?
Well. The best explanation I can come up with, without you having to see for yourself
It was an angry Russian TvTropes site.
Edit: Maybe Faraway-R could explain this better...
Oh, wait you weren't talking about the pic at all, nevermind

I'm slightly wary of making a clear seed with the intention of dewitching later (at least, more than we have to) when we don't know what the potential pitfalls of the process are.
I half-expect that resolving this issue will involve dewitching Yuuri, so the motivation is completely legitimate. In addition, singling that seed out for research has the useful side effect of giving us an excuse to grab it later when we need to start doing science. On top of that, turning it into a Clear Seed guarantees that it'll remain in our control instead of being given to Kyubey.

[x] Thank Madokami.

[x] Hijiri:
-[x] Goals
--[x] Continue to undermine the foundations of her anger.
--[x] If Niko set things up right, guilt-trip her about hurting Niko.
---[x] Totally by accident, of course. You know nothing about any half-rate wannabe masterminds.
-[x] Potential specifics
--[x] Shrug. Helplessly smug - you told her that Niko cared.
--[x] She's still with you. Ask her to keep helping with Yuuri/Airi.
--[x] Continue questions about Airi from the various previous votes.

Basically, double down on what Niko's just done - keep Hijiri off balance and questioning her motives by asking her to help us deal with Airi/Yuuri. And she's done an amazingly good job of deflecting any questions about her historical behavior - we still don't even know what she might have been looking for in Niko's lab, or what she told Hijiri that convinced her about the "truth".

[x] ALL CAPS
-[x] Goals
--[x] Act to ensure she doesn't get thrown away or lost
--[x] Try to give yourself an excuse to get hold of her later if necessary
-[x] Potential specifics
--[x] Make her into a Clear Seed

Goals-focus, let brinapilot come up with something. We've talked about it enough.

[x] Hunting.
-[x] Goals
--[x] Keep your friends safe from infohazards.
-[x] Potential specifics.
--[x] You want to talk to her yourself. Crazy assholes are still redeemable.
--[x] Warn of infohazards. If they can't disengage, try to gem her and don't listen.

We've already vote for "warn them about infohazards" once or twice. I'm not sure why it's such a big deal now. Probably spill-over from the "LET'S WITCHBOMB EVERYONE" crowd. I think that we're pretty much safe if we just tell them that they shouldn't talk to Yuuri and that asking questions is a bad idea. Lean on "I have magical knowledge of many things" and "My teammate is a precog, I ain't gotta explain shit" if they get suspicious.

Um. Are the Pleiades Lichbombed at this point? Because that's a complicating factor if we want to KO Airi cleanly.
...Good catch, thank you. Hrm. Yeah, that's obnoxious.

Would the Pleiades have noticed that hitting a MG's gem with the antimagic laser is enough to drop the girl? That's probably a pretty straightforward answer, and between Kazumi, Sayaka, Umika, and (lol) Hijiri we can give every party one of those.

Would we be able to just silently gem Yuuri and not... let anyone realize that her body is dead instead of just very unconscious or in some kind of stasis?

That relies on us being given the body to maintain, which I don't think is a safe assumption, given the Pleiades are locals and we have a social event to get to which a corpse might spoil the mood of.

It'd be a heck of a way to introduce ourselves to the Shiogama girls though... :V
