I dropped the Gretarian Push and changed a few other things to make room for an Intel Report. Starfleet Tactical doesn't seem the right reorganization to take right now, and if we take Explorer Corps we can promote Ainsworth in place, which we won't be able to do for Latriss. There's an argument for a second Foreign Analysis team instead of more intel reports but to me I'd pay over a hundred pp for another free report so, this is worth doing even now.

It can be done, but we'd probably need to put the Tiger Team on the HoH instead of the Cardassians and prioritize T2 forward defense projects over more valuable T3 projects, so it would have a real cost that arguably leaves us worse off for the actual goal that is supposed to be achieved.

Some of them are really very useful though, and we don't know which is which until we get them.

Besides, if you think a 25% chance of a Report that must be about a specific polity is worth 20pp, it's hard to say a 100% chance of a Report on any subject at all isn't worth at least 80pp.
 
Isnt pushing the Sydraxians a bit risky? Even if we can argue that they arent part of Celos anymore, it will piss of the Cardassians and with the big unknown that is the Harmony the situation is currently a bit awkward for us.

This is actually more unresearched slides than "all T2", but it represents half of the FD tree and doesn't force us into T2 only. Also, if we bought a FA team next Snakepit we could easily finish a 4x30-point slide in 6 years, no? So as long as we do that, we don't have to move Tiger Team.

Actually we'd just need to pick up another analysis team to cover that part.

The first level foreign analysis slide takes 5-6 years for a freshly hired level 2 analysis team to finish.

The Forward defense research is more of an issue, but we're already about halfway done with the T2 slides anyway.

It might just be time to throw our weight around a little and ask the Cardassians if they want to do anything about it. I bet they don't.

I think that getting free reports ever year on the HoH is a HIGH PRIORITY so I'm all down with putting Tiger Team on it. But SWB, your suggestion is a good one. Will implement!

This is sort of a combo goal, but I think putting it all together expresses a definite philosophy of a forward-leaning defense of the Federation. It also encourages us heavily to complete that Klingon Research and get a Foreign Analysis team researching the Harmony. It's true we don't yet have the option for a Starbase in the Gabriel Border Zone but I'm sure that will appear well before the decade is out.

There's interest in an alternative ambition along these lines. It's not particularly ambitious and thus would need more stuff like engineering and hospital ship goals, but it's something that's very aligned with the development faction in power. And while we all dislike N'Gir and trend expansionist/hawkish in our voting, that doesn't mean we're obligated to treat the development faction itself as an antagonist.

I personally am ambivalent between this and the forward defense ambition proposal.
