[X] Plan Politics, the Necessary Evil

I want for smaller plans to have some chance but I don't want to bother with the ash nonsense now that we have the bow one to focus on.

Oh wow, both leading plans have great things. Going out specifically at night and looking for an art that can play our music for us. I suppose I win either way. I like that sort of vote.

Thank you.

I mean, we already don't have time for everything we want to do. Between training our foundation with Physical Cultivation + Spiritual Cultivation + EPC, training our new attack art, and taking missions, we literally don't have time to deal with another art. We haven't even opened any meridians available yet! So how do people look at that and go "yep, now is the time to go grab a new art"?

I wonder if Ashen Shadow Art can do the music playing for us.

Ehh probably not till high high levels.

[X] Plan For Progress

@PrimalShadow Can't you add "Buy the Heaven-equivalent of Clear Wind and White Hart"? Both are basic pills, we know that because of Gushing Spring and Flowing Rivers, shouldn't be a problem and well worth it for FSA.

Why not drop EPC for Investigate?

I'm proposing my own plan! With Blackjack! And aesthetically pleasing cultivators!
I admit I don't think it'll gain much traction...
[x] Plan Serenity
-[X] Use From Inventory: 2 red stones, 1 Clear Wind Pill, 1 Qi Expansion Pill, 1 Darkmoon Pill, 1 Snowy Peak Pill, 1 Star Light Elixir
-[X] Buy and Use: Steady Growth Pill, Flowing Rivers Pill, White Hart Elixir, Bear Marrow Elixir, Channel Cleansing Pill (26 red stones)
-[x] Train by hunting with Han Jian and his group
--[x] Falling Stars Art
-[x] Train at the vent with Suyin and Su Ling
--[x] Spiritual
-[x] Train with Bai Meizhen
--[x] Argent Mirror Art
--[X] Speak with Bai Meizhen, her... intense training methods have made things a little awkward between you
-[x] Cultivate on your own
--[x] Meridian (arm)
--[x] EPC
-[x] Make sure Gu Xiulan does not bite off more than she can chew with her scheme
-[X] Spend more time with Han Jian fleshing out your understanding of noble politics
-[X]Attend the next 'government' meeting that Lady Cai has called

FSA, spiritual and EPC for obvious reasons.
Meridian to prepare for Ashen Shadow, or the next stages of FSA or whatever else gets supported in the future.
For the Meizhen training+social action I went for the Argent Mirror Art. I know it ticks up on it's own, but I want to bump it a little and from the character sheet it won't require a new meridian next stage so that can be left a little afterwards. May also help with Meizhen's fear training awkwardness since it specifically helps against stuff like that. And possible composure boost for delightfully friendly politics.

You may now commence nitpicking and telling me where I've made horrible choices and mistakes. :p

Why not drop EPC for Investigate
  1. Because progressing EPC of one of the most important thing we can do here. Higher levels of EPC give us a good number of extra dice, and taking a pause from cultivating EPC will noticibly delay getting the level.
  2. Because if I did I'd lose a good number of voters.

As for pills, I think we need a Market minor action to unlock them.

A secondary issue with AM is while it might not need a meridian for level 2 it might need one for level 3, and it probably needs a blank meridian in order to 'train itself'. I'm not a fan of having to open yet another meridian next week or lose the 5 auto-success.

@yrsillar in the update, 1/3rd of the bonus physical rolls successes should go into Qi shouldn't it? We used the Bear Marrow Elixir after all. That's (30/3=10 successes to Qi). This should leave it at 22/29 instead of 12/29.

I'm in favor of opening a Meridian a week in general, but yeah, until/unless we have more Argent Arts, I'm perfer letting it train itself. There are two many other things we need to get done.

Fair enough on EPC, but I do recall buying basic medicine would be a free action. It costs us nothing to try. They probably have like, a big tray of basic medicines around. "I want a 3 RS and a 6 RS Heaven pill, thank you".

Also, why switch Guandao training out? Han Jian said that we should eventually pick up a bit of Spear and Sword. Guangao's inherent bonus is fantastic, we can fight two opponents with no penalties.

Inherent AP is great, but I'm pretty sure we can buy AP1 on a heavy melee weapon like guandao pretty easily, while its own special ability would be far harder on a spear.

Lets keep that mastery ticking along till it's at least 2.

Speaking of meridians...
1. Shouldn't we have +2 auto successes on the arm meridian opening this last update?
2. Is plan Ash Burst planning to open a meridian in the archive action, or displace/compete with existing arts by training in either ASA or a hypothetical music art?

Because we might get bonuses to other weapons, because we don't know what sort of arts or weapons we might pick up, and because we aren't going to be using a Guangao until we pick up a melee art anyways.

The bonus is nice, but all weapons have bonuses that are nice.

It overlaps for now. Over the next two turns we would first open a Lung, and then another arm so we could have both at once.

The music art search is not for picking up an art this turn, it's for finding out what those arts look like, since we proc a art search when checking out the archives, but already know what art we want. Therefore, we're using it to feel out what those arts would be. That way we could have Meridian slots open in advance of picking it up, as we don't know if such an art would be heart, lungs, or arms.

Heart is for 'aura around user.' Musical aura.

Lungs is for 'shaped qi constructs.' Shaping sound into music.

Arms is for 'projecting energy.' Projecting music.

It could be any of those, or even something else, and we don't know.

Finding out this turn just simplifies it for us for when we decide to go for it.

Well! Looks like the whole "Li Suyin, is that you" speculation was way off, and someone (*cough*Kang Zihao*cough*) is trying to set up Ling Qi. And, as it turns out, Cai Renxiang is not happy at someone trying to use her against someone else.

I wonder if she suspected that it was someone trying to frame Ling Qi (or was Ling Qi herself), and that's why she assigned it to her. Intriguing… it puts her "or else I'll do it" in a different light - if it *was* Ling Qi, assigning her to stop the attacks would cause them (of course) to stop without needing to take 'official' notice and punish Ling Qi. Not unlike how people were thinking Li Suyin should be 'invited' along on Renxiang's task, no? Might make those who were hard on Cai Renxiang for this matter think some more about it, I would suggest.

I'm feeling somewhat happy Ling Qi *didn't* go about burglaring - could've made framing attempts like this easier to sell.

(Okay, it might not be Kang Zihao - it could be some 'lesser' cultivator with an appropriate art + talisman or what-have-you who's trying to cut away the branches above him or her. But it *does* fit - taint the Bai by showing her second as an unreformed thief, either in Renxiang's eyes OR just in the eyes of the public.)

Ah, Gu Xiulan… unhappy over people ignoring her (and a bit over not progressing as fast as Ling Qi - note to Ling Qi, try to avoid bringing up the topic in the future, it's still a bit sensitive). Useful information on the older disciples, by the way - some might be stronger than the top of the new class, but other might not be (according to Xiulan, of course). Hmmm… you know, it might be worth trying out. Certainly such a fight (if the opponent isn't vicious) would be free of serious injury, and it could open up future actions with the more experienced outer disciples that might benefit Ling Qi. Hmmm...

Li Suyin's finally found her determination, it looks like. She'll be joining the medicine hall and perhaps she's figured out some goals. Her demand of Ling Qi is expected - and the latter being there to prevent shenanigans or interference was likewise.

Now, the drama aside, the rest of the week. Double meridian opening, with a lucky find pill that meant that Ling Qi got 14 overflow into Spirit *and* qi. And Ling Qi seems to find archery rather soothing - interesting… and hunting is becoming profitable, with 20 red stones and 3 beast cores for the action.

Sable Crescent Step - so close. So *very* close. Spiritual cultivation is up to 77/120 - far more than I expected from this week - and Physique is climbing at a pretty good clip as well.

Formations requires brushwork, eh? Good to know. And the info dump is *very* much appreciated by me. Advancement reminds me a bit of Exalted thaumaturgy, actually. Alarm and Thieves' Bane can be defeated by sufficient stealth - and, as a matter of fact, I think Ling Qi can hit that threshold now.

A total of +2 (and change) qi this turn makes Ling Qi a happy camper, I wager. And Eight Phase Ceremony continues to have hidden bits and mysteries - and, intriguing… it's an art directly granted in general, and has variations based on which aspect grants it (I wonder if there's eight variations? :p).

Now, the effects. The bonus to cultivation and qi advancement is less than that of a capped Argent Soul - not unexpected - but it's actually pretty close; I'd expect it to match Argent Soul by the next level . Adds to Yin art cultivation (a pity Falling Stars is yang, there). Another 'virtual' yellow stone - between this and the vent, Ling Qi can easily enough cultivate at speed stone-free. And Grade Two spirit bindery unlocked, as hoped-for.

The art also gives dice to sneakery at night - interesting; I hadn't thought cultivation arts would offer that kind of bonus. I wager this is the "Grinning Moon" variation, and the others have bonuses to different activities at night. I wonder if Ling Qi might be able to learn the others as well… :p

Finally, attributes and skills. Strength and Stamina leapt ahead with a dot each. Dexterity needs plenty still, but I could see Ling Qi hitting cap well before hitting Green. Intelligence is getting pretty close - another week of formations, perhaps two will hit it.

Resiliance training is hard on Ling Qi *and* Bai Meizhen, but a dot is gotten. Heavy Polearm is usable now, albeit barely, while Archery and Unarmed improves.

All in all, a pretty solid week of advancement; combined with info on tutoring and such, there's much to think on for planning.

I'm not sure if we did open two meridians. It has two arm meridians there, but we only have two arm meridians total on our character sheet, and we opened a arm a turn back.
