Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

I quoted two people, so unless i'm remembering wrong and you've decided to start speaking in the third person. Your post had nothing to do with Lu Bu. The other person was asking why people were voting for the Jian. Lu Bu was not involved except as maybe a wrong guess that person made.

Given that your being really touchy today I won't double back to requite your post because surprise another post has appeared that works just as well after your post.

CircleTheSkies was asking why people were voting for the Ji a Chinese Halberd and he did mention Lu Bu in his post
... where the heck did the ji come from, anyway? Did a bunch of people think "oh, that's unusual, let's go with that!"?

Oh. It's "Lu Bu time!" ... oh god >_<

Meanwhile a Jian is a sword.

This is the person you should have quoted
Can't believe I watched that the whole way through

[X] Bow
[X] Chinese Halberd/Ji

Suppose if we're going for melee anyway polearms fit wind better plus we get to follow in the footsteps of Lu Bu

I'm not railing against persecution, I'm just annoyed at you messing up your argument and chosen examples.

[X] Heavy Polearm
[X] Bow

Because a girl always needs weapons that are bigger than she is, for the sheer fuck you of a two meter tall stick.

Wow, that's... something.

@yrsillar, are you sure you want to do it like that? The Ji is much more spear, and in the lighter side of the spectrum rather then heavy like the larger halberds and glaives. It even uses some spear techniques from what I understand. Like, if you're dividing swords from sabers, that's a weird set of things to bundle together.

Huh, yeah, on further searching it looks like I was mixing things up there.

OK now that that's cleared up, anyone who doesn't want unarmed (28 votes), Sword/Jian (25 votes) is the closest to beating it.

When I originally created the vote for the Ji/Chinese halberd, I apparently actually wanted something like the glaive or heavy polearm. So, yeah..... Sorry about that for everyone who wanted a heavy polearm and voted Ji because of me.

I'm going to change my vote though because I don't believe we should be unarmed, and that change is going to be

[X] Heavy polearm
[X] Jian

The reason being is that bows seem pretty safe, but I don't think we should be unarmed, but I still really want a glaive heavy polearm.

Now I'm starting to wonder if there was discussion about further training into unarmed leading to some sort of additional unarmed insight. o3o

Because other than bodychecking that one guy down the well, I don't think we've punched a single person in the face, and that's honestly terrible. Has there been chatter about unarmed martial arts competitions or the like? Cuz' that'd be interesting.

Otherwise... I'm not sure I see the logic? We're apparently asking Han Jian to show us some weapons and then we tell him, no, that's okay, I'd prefer to practice some hand-to-hand?

Ooooor, maybe we're asking him to use a weapon on us while we've been disarmed (worst case scenario: flute broken, out of knives) versus someone with a weapon. That'd actually be a pretty neat scene.

One word. Grappling. I will grant you we should avoid it whenever possible, but even 'stab then when they grab you' isn't really always the most effective tactic in the world of xianxia.

Alright then I read his post wrong, I'd thought that he'd written Jian instead of Ji. If i'd noticed it was a different weapon I probably wouldn't have quoted anyone at all. A simple wrong weapon post would have cleared this up a lot faster.

So we're going for a... wrestling sub-mastery type deal?

If the end result is Ling Qi casually clotheslining someone while playing her flute and not even having to pause while playing I am all for it. Nevertheless, for the sake of the vote, I am going to have to throw in my support for our leading armed masteries. :V

Not that it changes anything, my previous vote was Jian and Shield.

[X] Heavy polearm
[X] Jian

What is a Guai? A kind of gauntlet weapon?

No. It sometimes get translated as tonfa, but that's misleading. It's a kind of cane used as a weapon - depending on how it's held, it can act like a hammer or staff or tonfa, though it's actually a very simple weapon in design. It's associated with Shaolin Monks.

I believe I posted a video of one over here.

Also, flying swords! I still want a flying sword! Who else wants to actually fly while standing on a sword?

If you aren't pushing for something for a purely cynical reason, why is it no one has suggested the Guai? We no it's a weapon that gets used here, it can act like a Tonfa, club, short staff or hammer.

Has a good history with monks, is a martial arts weapon, and it looks like a cane at a distance playing into the whole 'subtle/hidden' weapon thing. Though I don't think that actually much of a thing. Still is cooler then 90% of what we could go with.

Why go with a heavy pole-arm that doesn't really fit us? A sword is boring but fits everyone, a Gaui is cool, probably less good then a sword for arts (but so is everything), but thematically fits our 'lowly' origins and has the whole versatility thing going for it.

Also, given how important FVM is to our current fighting style, I think we need to strongly consider investing in a back-up flute. Or a back-up instrument.

Everything else (besides the egg) is expendable, but we lose our ability to make music and we are not in a happy place.

Eh, we're planning on picking up an art for that circumstance. I would rather turn the flute into a talisman that's hard to destroy, since it's a personal treasure.
