I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

I dunno how good is it for finding enemies (idk if daemons have heat signature and lot of enemies are cold blooded), but it should help with finding cracks in tunnels and for finding friendlies.

If that rune doesn't end up as part standard equipment for Rangers i will eat my beard.
Heat vision (or future upgrades) + talismatic eagle vision + piercing sight on a telescope would be perfect for scouting

Tbh I don't think a gem with adamant properties actually exists right now. The T4 gem that we got this turn doesn't have those properties, and I doubt any other will. We need something that is as durable as Adamant and resonant with Runes in a similar way, and that's a really tall order to meet.

Instead I think its more likely that there are five forms of Gromril in this quest:

Raw unrefined gromril and Pure Gromril.

Adamant, which we know how to produce. And a sidegrade off Adamant which is transparent and crystalline, to incorporate a version of that very old 1st Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay lore which described Laihtero as: a transparent and crystalline metal, sometimes softly luminous, as the third form of Gromril.

And then Glimril, which we've now seen and know is not crystalline.
 
It's been awhile, but if a second item plan of mine making it into quest reality isn't a reason to catch up, I don't know what is. I love the spin soulcake put on the original description. The fire effect was surprising, but really cool. Now I just need to see the Hearth Guard's reactions!

Normally I like voting for the unpopular option, but we already have pretty solid darkvision and portable light sources—a rune for greater darkvision is not much of a game changer.
 
On that note, tentative idea for a ring for Otrek: MBrotherhood/dawi/grimnir. Helps him learn to fight good, lets him borrow fighting skills until he learns and there's probably synergy between dawi and brotherhood skill sharing. And even afterwards, it should help him be a better leader since Ancestor Grimnir is about all aspects of fight good, not just hit good.

I'd probably go with MRoBrotherhood, ARoGrimnir, ARoGrungni.

As Grimnir and Grungni are literally brothers, and the ancestor runes adapt their effects based on what they're placed on.

Grungni, according to the wiki, is also revered as a great teacher, which probably also synergises with Brotherhood.

And while not as much as Grimnir, he also has a warrior aspect, when wielding Drongrundum.

I hope that the Heat Vision Rune allows us to continue to poke at expanding the electromagnetic spectrum. Hopefully it is the path towards radiowaves, which would be a communication gamechanger.

if anything cold blooded enemies should be even easier to find, they're all about soaking up heat from external sources and maintaining it for as long as possible to stay warm.
 
Thanks for another good update, soulcake! I'm enjoying how Karstah is developing and it's nice to see some different emotions from Snorri too with him seeming a bit lost after all this attention around the hammer. I would have liked to see Snorri or Karstah interact a bit more with the Drakk. We did hear a bit about them in Pt1, but it would be nice to just read about Snorri hanging out with Grimgal or something 😊

This is better for industry (brewing(!!!), food safety, forging, chemistry, etc) and war, imo:

Kinda sad because Heat Vision feels like the better option on the face of it, but Dark Vision's focus on Hysh probably means it's the better path for pure light, which is what would be best for my idea of open-air light-based communication for that Challenge.

Honestly i may need to look at the Rune of Torsion. Car equivalents are definitely....too much I think.
Yeah, probably. I could see ways to make something sort of like it work, like ensuring the creation of vehicles with it would be super expensive/cumbersome, so big, runic artifact tank type things could serve as the core of the largest, most storied caravans but be well beyond the means of most dawi, but car equivalents is...eh...
 
-- Incomplete? Rune of Dark Sight [Talismanic]: Must be inscribed on lenses. Allows the user to see in incredibly low light conditions. (props to @Carcer , independently submitting these Runes like a year or three ago)
well i havn't seen that one coming,neat to see it being used.

maybe i'l give a shot at thinking to a few new ones in the incoming week.
