Somewhat unrelated to the current vote: it's just occurred to me that even if we aren't often going to use some of the Social Science subjects we've backfilled this turn, it'll be interesting to see what effect easy access to those subjects has on the development of the Library-We.

People have been talking about finishing scouting with Eike and Kazador for a while now. Safely blooding Eike, along with an opportunity for Dwarven interaction and Xeno-Affinity or Waaghbane pickup, make it an attractive option- and with the Elfcation in Naggarythe set for next turn, now is the best time to get that extra point in intrigue and scouting proficiency, imo.
Since Scouting is an intrigue action, training with Kazador and by extension blooding Eike might be something we might have more chance of doing in a turn where we want to focus on Eike's Intrigue - like for instance, also taking an action to train up our Infiltration, or inserting EIC agents somewhere (like maybe Marienburg?), or specific Grey College lessons like Interrogation or Assassination. That way she has a chance of learning quite a bit.

I definitely want to do that sooner than later, ideally next turn.

Yeah; a while back, some people were championing acquiring Ethics and Philosophy subjects for the library during our purchase rounds for Eike and the Librarwe, and between the Nuln copypasta and the backfill, we've got a full +10 in those. It's nice when things work out.

You're thinking of the Orbs of Sorcery galaxy flex, which all the plans do. I assume that after we make them, there will be a vote about whether we deliver them immediately or whether we wait until the book is done.

EDIT: Wait, you might be thinking of Aksel's river leyline method, where he causes rivers to carry magic as we command by using a pile of mundane rocks and sacrificing a fish every now and then. It's a completely deranged "built it in a cave with a box of scraps" means of magical mega-engineering, and the thread loves it.

On a completely unrelated note, if Mathilde's Elfcation leads to a sequence of events that somehow lets Teclis actually visit the Colleges again like he wanted, will that on top of her many other accomplishments lead to "Mathilde has broken the College Favor system" like when reclaiming K8P led to "Mathilde has broken the Dwarf Favor system"? Or would she need to become Supreme Matriarch to reach that level?

I don't know, part of the reason we broke the favor system for dwarves is because we were an outsider who did so much for them that we may as well have been one of them (albeit, one without a Clan).

But we're already a wizard, of course, so anything we did for the Colleges would be seen as rightful and proper, wouldn't it? If, say, a Lady Magister or Magister Matriarch or Supreme Matriarch kills the Everchosen, that's pretty impressive and probably merits a reward, but it might not merit breaking the system.

Maybe it's impossible for us. Maybe you can only break the favor systems outside of them. Like, if a Dwarf went and saved the Colleges from certain destruction, maybe they'd break the College Favor system somehow? That's a funny thought. A singular dwarf might have difficulty making such a gigantic difference...

We did not technically break the dwarf favor system all the way. DF still exists, if only in the form of a transitional currency we use to spend AV for the Runesmiths. What we did was make it so that we would no longer generate DF for most acts in the service of the Karaz Ankor and conversely that we would not need it for most of the things we used it, like getting rare books.

I think Boney has implied before that part of their reasoning was the sheer disconnect between our actions and how they would perceive Ranald.

Like, they looked at Sigmar and went 'Yes, the Manling Thane performs great martial deeds in honor of the closest thing they have to Grimnir, this makes sense.'

Then with Mathilde it's like, 'He's the god of… thievery? Why do the Manlings need a god of Thieves? What else? Spying? Chance? Armed mobs? This seems like some Thaggi Krut, where does fighting daemons with a greatsword come in?'

So they started looking for other possible reasons, asked Ranald if she was a Dwarf or something, and he responded with some bullshit.

It's been six hours since the vote opened, and there are two clear frontrunners. Major shifts in voting can and have happened (winning plans have been written and risen up from nowhere significantly after the opening of voting fairly often), so I am not by any means saying "you should give up hope and vote for one of those two." If someone wants to come along and disrupt the entrenched voting blocs, by all means, go for it, Ranald smiles upon you. I am saying, however, that you might want to think about which one of those you prefer, particularly if you are one of the multiple people who is currently voting for both plans (which you will notice is very similar to voting for neither) -- I was one of those people myself, so I picked my favorite.

I love the 'explore the Ward of Storms' action in Plan Ithilmar, Enchantment etc. but I'm meh on the other two WEB-MAT action. I love the Ghyran nut action of Pondering Orbs and Nuts, but I'm meh on the arcane mark action. However, I much prefer the intrigue self-study action for Eike, so I'm approval voting for Orbs and Nuts (Eike shouldn't be on the KAU action btw).

Alas, I will not be around for most of the vote and so I will not be able to drop my approval votes when the Father Sweep finally begins, but I'm sure it won't make a difference because the Father will win by such large margins.

I kinda miss it though, Used to be we could spend DF if we wanted to see Phoneix Crown. But now we need an actually good reason instead.

Honestly once we study Carstein ring notes I will probably start eyeing the runesmith favor we got. Only right for us to spend the favor we got for advancing runesmithing for advancing our enchantment knowledge really.
 
As the author of Plan Pondering Orbs and Nuts, I am not particularly attached to putting Eike on the KAU action. I have approval voted the variant plan with that removed (Plan Pondering Orbs and Nuts (no Eike on KAU)), however there are a notable number of people only voting for one or the other. I encourage those who are only voting for one plan or the other to approval vote both until the variant plan catches up. Once the variant has caught up, some voters can drop their vote for the original plan without worrying about either plan losing.
