That changes a lot actually makes it worth it to do the runs more ships run because previously the way it was set up was one ship a year.
Yeah, I was thinking about it as the war starts in 2155, but does not end then so we would still want the other two being worked on, but this is better.

Apologies for making a vote with objectively better options and also denying the opportunity to have a higher shipbuilding tempo. The options are now distinguished by whether you are building two Stingrays at once or just one at a time, both ending on the same date so there aren't opportunity losses.
 
It was one hell of a warcrime. Romulans hit Coridan III in 2155 killing half of its 3 billion population, tainting or destroying half of its significant dilithium reserves, wrecking the environment for half a century, causing it to withdraw from the Coalition of Planets and leading to long lasting instability and exploitation by Orion criminal syndicates that would only be resolved when it finally joined the Federation in 2268.

...Like I said, if we're using that bit of canon here I'd rather avoid that if at all possible.

For purposes of the vote tally, do the old options we were given still count (i.e., a vote for the five-ship run counting as a vote for the six-ship run, while a vote for the old three-ship run counts as a vote for the new three-ship run), or are voters obliged to redo their votes?

With that new information in mind, then, two ships at a time instead of one seems like a decent use of our industrial capacity. It does still diminish how much industrial capability we'll have afterward, but not by enough to make me blanch too hard at the cost-benefit analysis.

We need more ships, yesterday, at the outset of war. Once we get to 2155, we'll have all our orders finished and can start planning what to do next - maybe a new class, maybe some combined run of NX class cruisers and Stingrays.

But as many ships as possible may help us to weather this coming storm a little better.

A ship in the stars is worth six in the yards. Newer, better things are coming, but right now we're in the establishment phase, and we don't want the trade lanes being taken out by the stellar equivalent of a Zerg rush.
 
Wait, it's currently 2153, and 2155 is two years away. If that's three years total, then how are we building two Stingrays at the same time? We have 36 Industry to spend and each Stingray costs 25 Industry. Either I'm missing something or this doesn't add up.
 
If Starfleet is going to make this about our "confidence" in our work, then we had best not show weakness on that score lest our budget be cut. Besides, the people demanded gunships uber alles, and the people must now lie in that bed.

Personally I believe 11 Stingrays and 4 Nx looks fine at the start(Our ships are superior to their OTL counterparts by good margin.) We either concentrate on quality(NX flight 2) or quantity(Stingray flight 3) trying to mix production seems like overly complicated(if possible).

I am guessing we are earlier in the year so we can build two in 2153, then the other 4 in the next two years.
