Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Nice post Chris but I have a question sinds I don't know the minutiae of american politics : won't these concerns about Rubert Murdoch also apply to Bruce sinds he is also a Republican or do the liberal half of Hollywood know that while Bruce is a republican he's at least a (very) liberal one while Murdoch is... Murdoch?

In my view, people in general are less worried about Bruce because his political actions so far have been pretty benign feel good stuff in refugee aid, environmentalism and veteran welfare. Plus Lucasfilms released All the President's Men which basically tore into Nixon and Watergate so a lot of people probably figure that Bruce isn't a die hard partisan because if so he wouldn't okay a film about Watergate when America had moved on.

I'm still very much against the idea of anyone but Bruce making this film, so consider me a vote in that direction.

Recognizing that including you there seems to be five people who are for Bruce directing Kung Fu Kid (six if you include Overmind's original plan) I have decided to switch it to Brian De Palma making Undercover.

However, as one final argument in favor of Brian doing Kung Fu Kid, here's the text of my PMs with Magoose where he answered my questions.

Kaiser Chris said:
So in regards to Brian, can he make a good Kung Fu Kid?
Magoose said:
Yes and no.

If we served as producer yes.

Without us… it would be a toss up.

Can we serve as producer for Kung Fu Kid while also working on Moonlight Diner?

I'm fine with Brian directing Kung Fu Kid so long as we remain the producer. Your arguments have merit and have convinced me.

I'm not really concerned about whether or not Brian could make a good movie or not, my issue is that I think this film is far too important to Bruce to allow anyone else to make it. It's our Star Wars in that regard, if you remember George's neuroticism about that earlier in the quest. He made the script not long after Bruce Lee died and used it as a way to get over his grief, he specifically got the blessing of Linda to do this film, we were originally going to act in it before we aged and bulked up too much for the role, it would be Brandon's first film and he would be the lead character on top of that so I think it would be good if we were there to support him, and a bunch of other things along those lines. It's a deeply personal film for both Brandon and Bruce and overall, it strikes me as incredibly wrong to have anyone else involved in the production, let alone actually making it other than Bruce.

Solomon Kane and the Shadows of Africa:
it has the potential to be very interesting if we do it well because correct me if I'm wrong but all or almost the Hollywood films of this era taking place in Africa are at best very cringe or ignore the black people as extras or at worst horribly racist, making a good film set there with a leading black character who is not an antagonist (N'Longa) or servile could earn us some attention from the Afro-American community and the African public

Undercover:
Sound like a story that deserv to be told abd an good way to get some PR with the feminists

The Taxman Cometh:
How petty is the IRS?
Depending on the answer we might want to have our accounts checked and have a war council with Mike before releasing this film.

One thing i don't get is isn't the producer the guy/company who give the money ?,the shouldn't all of those be produced by lucasfilm ?

So in regards to Moonlight Diner, what should be the budget? I put 6 Million for the budget since I figured it would be more expensive than normal considering the large ensemble cast and the special effects necessary for ILM to do its magic with the werewolf, but I have been known to inflate budgets in the past. Anyone got any ideas?

We already got John Henry and Small Giant set to release next year so we'll still get plenty of love from the Black community.

Considering the IRS is already the most hated government institution, I don't think they're gonna unleash hell on us with Taxman Cometh since it's first an absurdist satire film. So long as Bruce pays his taxes and creates jobs then the IRS won't give a shit.

The Producer in addition to being the money guy is the person who manages the budget of said money and all pre and post production. The producers listed on the plan work for Lucasfilms in contract, so we give them money for the budget and in return they get a portion of box office gross in addition to their salaries.

I think you're about right. In comparison, John Carpenter's The Thing was released in 1982 and was done on a 10 to 15 million budget. Considering that the entire story of moonlight Diner is done in a single set (The Diner itself) and there is only one Creature Effect/CGI needed (The Monster) I think that the budget works just fine.

Though I don't know who will be cast there, so perhaps we should think on which stars we'll get. Perhaps we should increase it by a couple of million now that i think about it.

[X] Plan Lucasfilms Synthwave

In the future we should try to start collecting IP so that we can fill a theme park of our own. Though we know that Star Wars and Conan could probably have lands of their own. Especially since Conan can share its land with the future Prince of Persia films.

Alright, new plan, time to make something of the Irish car brands until we can get DeLorean later down the line as a luxury model:
Hey Magoose, how much would it cost overall to buy all three of these car brands [for the purpose of merging them]? Nothing really came of them IRL, but with the timeline all shook up, I'm wondering if the cost stayed low so we can buy them on the cheap, or if they've gone up in value?

@Magoose, since we can do Pacific Rim as an animation, can we also do it as a live action movie in the 80s? Do we have the technology?
Not a chance in hell. It would be decades until we have the tech to do something like that.

Gone up due to… lots of stuff.

Doing the math, carry the one, realize I'm bad at math, play BG3 and wonder how to get Gale to stop hitting on DU!Tav, he's with Shadowheart, realize I forgot what I was doing, sees the math problem, cry, eat ice cream, go back to math, carry the one again, realize I've got Kronk's voice in my head doing his Hannibal impression, eat more ice cream–

Would $30 Million be enough for one, or all?
Enough to where we would have trouble buying them.
D'oh.

"Carrie? Carrie honey I've got a mean man on the phone telling me I can't play with their cars."

I am going to troll a little bit for paramount to see how they are doing:

Paramount: D100 => 93

Oh no! They got wise and found some talent that no one expected!
